The Ellery

We loved staying here and in general, were so comfortable and happy. Excellent room, bed, amenities, etc. Super clean room and simple, elegant, modern vibe without being cold. The continental breakfast was good/solid and the coffee was good. It was nice to have coffee out all day.

We loved the photos of Smith alumnae in the breakfast nook, but it would’ve been cool to see a greater diversity of women graduates represented. Why not have Julia Child, Gloria Steinem, Sylvia Plath AND notable women of color graduates alongside them? The pet fee was expensive unfortunately, which made the trip more stressful. The only thing that would make breakfast better is if they had better gluten-free options. The gluten free muffins they had have super high sugar content and are dry.

The Ellery is fantastic. It’s a bit pricey but worth it as it’s such a great location since you can walk to Smith College. The rooms and beds are very comfortable and clean. It’s very quiet. The staff is always super friendly and helpful. We enjoyed chatting w lovely people at breakfast.

The stairs are a bit challenging with luggage but someone is always available to help with that. There is no standard hot breakfast buffet but there was a great assortment of hard boiled eggs, ham, cereal, toast, instant oatmeal, and some yogurt, etc.

We chose the Ellery based on it’s close location to downtown Northampton- it made it easier for us to walk everywhere and not have to worry about parking. The Ellery was charming and comfortable. The bed was so cozy! And the staff were lovely.

I noticed a random hair on our bathroom sink when we first arrived- made me question how clean our room was. The water pressure was also mediocre and the soap container on the wall was nearly empty (we could have easily requested a new bottle but at this point we were close to checking out). Our room was otherwise clean and comfortable!

The location was perfect; the staff (ALL of them) go out of their way to welcome and help; the rooms are clean and the bathrooms we used appeared recently furbished. We did like the quality of the shower/soap products, etc. There is more privacy in the car-accessible individual rooms and that can be a plus.

We were expecting a hotel, but it's really a hybrid-motel but with a lively and comfortable central reception/seating/dining area. Breakfast was so-so -- very good yogurt, excellent tea/coffee options, but no fruit.

The continental breakfast was very good. Big choice of quality items, nice fresh fruit, yogurts and coffee. The bed linens and bathroom towels were wonderful. very good quality The room was very clean and neat.

The room was quite small for the price, especially the bathroom. No place to put cosmetics, travel needs, There were no bars in the shower, which isn't a game changer, but would have been nice

Being a pet friendly hotel, it was nice to have both front desk attendants stop to greet our dog and let us know where to find water and where to walk her right away.Knowing we had been in the car for hours, this was a nice touch and they're enthusiasm/care towad our dog made uas feel welcome instantly.

The only thing I missed, being a CPAP user, was a night table on both sides of the bed.

We needed a nice place to break up a drive to see family. The Ellery was the perfect place to go after a hike around Skinner State Park and some time exploring Northampton. Really clean and close to center. Nice common area and friendly staff.

Not a big deal, but wifi didn’t reach rooms farthest from main house.

The Ellery is a perfect place as a base if you are in the area for a few days. The staff is exceptionally friendly and goes out of their way to make you feel welcome. We got great dinner recommendations in town. The place is very comfortable and almost a home away from home. Would definitely stay there again.

The room was simple but very comfortable. It was very close to Smith and walking distance to downtown Northampton. The staff were friendly and helpful. We liked the old fashion key!

We had an inside room so could hear people in the hallway quite well. However, it wasn't too disruptive and didn't keep us awake.

Very nice walk into Northampton. Very clean and collegiate. Comfortable in a way that chain motels/hotels are not.

The breakfast was disappointing. Hard boiled edges, but no salt or pepper or mayo. Only white bread options. Basic big box store breakfast, high on carbs, unimaginative.
