The Berkeley Hotel

The location was perfect. The room was luxurious. The welcome was wonderful. There was valet parking available, which we found pricey. We were given options that were more affordable.

We did have trouble with the ac one night. We had complained earlier and they thought it was fixed. We could have moved rooms but chose not to and we were given a 50 % refund , which I think was reasonable. The staff was wonderful, especially Alfreda and Curtis or Chris. We were disappointed there was no bar or restaurant.

The room was large enough to be considered a suite. Great location for walking to shops and restaurants etc. Well furnished, and comfortable.

We were out of the hotel most of the day, when we returned our room was not refreshed. I went down to the front desk to inquire and was told that they did not clean rooms unless requested, however we were not told this upfront. It is a real shame because they otherwise wouldA have received a 6 star rating.

The service was genuinely friendly and thoughtful and made us feel at home in an instant. The rooms are spacious yet cosy and have a lovely view. The communication was on point and we were given more than enough consideration.

While the restaurant was pretty yet the breakfast selection didnt meet my diatery restricrions. If I could make one suggestion, it would be to include more of a vegetarian take. Also, it would be nice if the ballroom was accessible. Otherwise nothing to worry about.

Amazing room to stay in, extremely comfortable bed, clean and nicely decorated, felt like I was transferred back in time. Staff was extremely friendly and available. Will definitely tell my friends to come and come back to stay myself.

I wish there were some additional amenities, such as a microwave and fridge. Those two items would have made my trip from exceptional to pure perfection. I would have loved if my phone also did not trick me and said there was room service

I enjoyed my stay at The Berkeley -- the staff were probably the nicest and most helpful staff I've ever encountered, and I've traveled the globe, and the room was perfect (comfy bed, quiet, roomy, cozy, big bathroom, solid water pressure) -- but the hotel sits on an old, cobblestone street in Richmond's historic district. If you're cool with your car on streets like that, then have at it -- you'll love the place. But I cringed whenever I left the hotel and drove down E. Cary (1-way). You can, of course, ask to have your car brought from the garage and placed on 12th St, right around the corner, which I did after Day 1.

The cobblestones (but they're a part of the charm, so it's a catch-22). =^)

The location is excellent. The grandure of this hotel and its amenities, restaurant etc. were severely hindered due to Covid safety protocols. Nonetheless, the room and bathroom were very comfortably large. The desk and office chair also allowed my wife to comfortably in some work hours before heading out. We would definitely consider staying here again, hopefully in the near future.

The street view was great but from the third floor some of the traffic aggravated by the historic cobble stone street was easily heard. Would recommend staying in higher floors if possible & available.

The room we had was much larger than average. Great furniture for sitting. Really liked the location of the hotel. Many restaurants nearby to choose from. Staff was consistently friendly.

Would have liked a small refrigerator in room. Hotel's website says that a fitness facility exists in partnership with a local YMCA. That appears to no longer exist. Should remove from your website.

For starters; the bell hop was polite and friendly. Not sure what his name was, but he said that he just started working for the hotel a few weeks prior. Secondly, we loved the room 608. The room was spacious and comfortable. A bonus was the replica of the ancient Egyptian Fish God on the balcony! We enjoyed sitting out on the balcony in the evenings. The bed as comfortable and high! The walk in shower was spacious and excellent. All in all, it was a great stay.

The coffee maker did not work.

I loved the location and the atmosphere when entering the hotel.

I expected the room to be more updated considering the price per night especially when purchasing the “Deluxe” room. Poor lighting and old model TV. Also, continental breakfast should at least be labeled with allergens. I have a nut allergy and there were muffins mixed together and some contained nuts and some didn’t.

Everything, beautiful, historical, private, clean, tasteful, black out curtains, excellent location, ample parking, wonderful staff, feels very safe, because you can’t even get in without being buzzed in or an access card. Looks way bigger than the photos, king suite has surprisingly large bathroom with shower&tub. My toddler complained her bathroom in the jr suite is too small, lol, but it is narrow to her credit. Even the stairwell looks swept and well kept. Worth every penny. WiFi. Kids love it, husband happy. Clean wooden drawers and furniture. Immaculate. Nearby places to eat, some next door.

There is not a microwave or a mini fridge and you can imagine the outrage when I didn’t plan ahead for that with two little ones still drinking milk. The doors slam, but I don’t hear the other guests outside of That. Elevator is not THAT small (as some others complain) and you can smell it when they sanitize it down. Very, very clean. About 20 channels, but all the necessary ones (cnn) for adults. No Disney jr/nick jr or Netflix so bring your tablets for the kiddies. This stay will be hard to beat and you really don’t need to look anywhere else. I want to explore other properties for The adventure of it, but all needs are met here. Can’t wait to come back when their beautiful restaurant is reopened post Covid. Low water pressure for the shower.
