We liked the genuine care. The tone was set by Carol's greeting on upon our arrival with our (small) dog on a wet Saturday afternoon. This is a classy place which combines respect for the tastes and style of the past with the well planned facilities of the present. It is not marred by kitschy excess or dusty folklorish fantasies. Breakfast was simple and not inadequate especially as we wanted to get away without any fuss. This is a truly dog-friendly place. Matched by advice about dog friendly eating places in Mittagong itself and a follow up booking. We appreciated the heating of our room. We will include the Fitzroy Inn in any plans requiring stay in the Southern Highlands.

The Fitzroy Inn certainly matched our needs! As long as that happens we don't look around for real or contrived faults. It was obvious that the management would be responsive to complaints or concerns.

beautiful historic home. the house can be viewed with a self guided tour, is well decorated and beautifully kept.

We have stayed there before in a building, The Schoolmasters House, seperate to the main house. These rooms are spacious with seating areas and views over the garden - quite lovely accomodation. This time we stayed in the main house which is the old inn, the rooms are much more compact. We had booked a “garden view room”. Our room on the 1st floor had no outlook at all, just 2 dormer windows which were too high to see out. This was disappointing and, although the room was quite nice, I would recommend anyone to stay in the Schoolmasters house to enjoy space and also the beautiful gardens.

The general facilities. With all of its common areas this is an excellent choice for a family reunion or group getaway, particularly in the warmer months of the year. Loved being able to have a fire going in one of the lounge rooms.

Lighting in the room was fine, however the sink/mirror area had no separate light. Not a big problem but if getting your make up perfectly right was a priority then you might have some difficulties.

This was an awesome place to stay. Right down to the sound of freight trains at night. We did the Inn self guided tour, including the 1800s dungeon. Decor and refurbished areas were all period in the common areas, but accommodation rooms were all up to date. We will look forward to our next stay.

There was really nothing, to dislike. Renovations and additional accommodation were still in progress, but did not detract from. A lovely stay.

We stayed in two rooms on a chilly and wet night in April and had fun exploring this homestead. It was quiet when we stayed, and once we found reception we were warmly welcomed and shown around. We enjoyed a game of pool in the evening complete with visits from one of the dachshunds who lives there. Staff were attentive without being imposing, and handled a beloved child’s toy we left behind with understanding and care.

Location was good, beautiful garden and large and interesting old building. There were 5 or 6 common rooms, including 3 lounges and a billiard room. all lovely old rooms. Bedroom was very large and comfortable.

Breakfast was a "hamper" left in the room, pretty basic. we had a problem with the " contactless check in " which didn't work quite as it was meant to due to a staff error and due to a rain storm as we arrived.

Lovely location and the history of the place was a great feature. It was hard to initially find our room but it was comfortable. As an old guest house, it was a fun place to stay, with lots of parking and lovely gardens. If one is looking for a modern and plush hotel, this is not the place but we enjoyed the old style of the house and found the room extremely comfortable.

The room was hard to find and we had to make a few calls as the staff were offsite. They were helpful and it was quickly sorted.

What a beautiful property! Loved the history walk you could do around the house! Spacious rooms…would have loved to have stayed longer to enjoy the cozy living areas!

The toilet in our room made a constant noise (septic system perhaps?). We had to turn the water off for it to stop. Perhaps some information about how to deal with this would be helpful!

Great spot close to cafes & shops plus easy driving to villages and natural attractions - fitzroy falls, lookouts, lake alexandra all readily accessible. The property was attractive & we were made to feel welcome. Top marks to john as host.

The bed needs an upgrade in the room we stayed in, ridge down the centre uncomfortable.

Old world charm. Loved heater in bathroom. Beds comfy. Great location to golf course for dinner. Liked continental breakfast in room and the choice of extra breakfast items in the restaurant. Carol was super friendly and most helpful.

Poor signage to reception. Had other guests who arrived not long after us also looking for reception. We all found it rather confusing.
