Great ambience in a lovely historic building. Log fires are great, but the smoke should not affect air quality upstairs.

The smoke is a health hazard and needs to be investigated. Great ambience downstairs but upstairs we had to keep window open at night and it was about 4 degrees. Staff members response to smoke was poor, stating that "its like that sometimes". Appreciate the efforts to restore the building to its former glory.

The staff were friendly and welcoming. We ended up having chats to almost all staff we interacted with. There is so much to see and read about in the hotel from the little reading areas to the gardens, you could easily spend your entire day at only the hotel. The rooms were comfortable and enjoyable with space elsewhere to get away if you need time alone. The breakfast was excellent and the dinner menu was wonderful with only a short walk in to the town of Roberston.

The rooms don't have air conditioning but when we requested a standing fan it was immediately provided. I have seen some reviews complaining about the lack of air conditioning. You need to be aware that the building was built in 1924, it is a historical building and you're staying for the experience. If you can't tolerate heat, plan to stay in a cooler month. The shared bathrooms were interesting. Again, it's the experience of being in a historical building and it's good value for money to opt for a shared bathroom room. However, for our next stay, we will pay more for the bathroom.

I was checked in by annella and she was such a joy. She was so helpful each evening of my stay, booking breakfast at moonacres (which is a fantastic deal for breakfast), supplying plates and cutlery for my dinner, and lovely to chat to. You have a real treasure in annella. My room was large and the bed was so comfy. I absolutely loved the fire in the sitting room. It was so quiet and lovely to sit in there and read. I had a delightful stay. The tea making facilities on the first floor was fantastic as well.

I think a water cooler with the tea making facilities would be a good addition

I stayed mid week, which was a pretty quiet time for Robertson. The staff were extremely pleasant, helpful and accommodating. If you enjoy heritage buildings, then you will be charmed by the character of this building and it's spaces. It retains a lot of it's original features throughout and despite it's grandeur, still has a cosy feel to it, particularly the sitting room. I half expected to see Poirot propped against the fire place, sipping on a brandy! I stayed in a room with it's own ensuite and found it to be in fair condition, cleaned and practical to use. Importantly, the hot water was hot and plentiful! There was a radiator in the room for the cooler months, but wasn't needed for my stay. There is no fridge or tea/coffee making facilities in your room, but each floor has it's own communal lounge area for guests to use as they step off the grand staircase and there are shared tea/coffee facility located here on each floor. I found it was a great spot to base myself for sightseeing in the area, and it was a much more budget friendly accommodation option compared to staying in Kangaroo Valley. The Robertson is only 30 minutes down the road and closer to a lot of the natural attractions eg Belmore Falls, Fitzroy Falls.

I had a quick look at the communal bathroom and the one I saw does look in need of some TLC in the near future. Not 100% sure I would be a fan if that was my selected option during my stay. No A/C in the room, but the building was designed to be comfortable in the 1920's when A/C didn't really exist, so I suspect it might stay relatively cool in summer? Unfortunately the hotel is located a little way out of town (1.2km). If you are feeling fit, you can walk to town in about 15 minutes, but otherwise you will be driving to/from Robertson town centre for any needs.

The hotel and grounds are very grand. Walking through the front door feels like stepping back through time. The rooms on the ground floor (lounge, dining, ballroom, sunroom, etc) have all been given their own sense of character, I felt a bit like Alice exploring Wonderland when we first arrived. It's simply stunning. Every floor has several cosy sitting areas, and shared tea and coffee facilities, so it retains that homely boardinghouse feeling. The food was exceptional, we had planned to have one breakfast and one dinner at the hotel and explore the region for other meals, but we ended up eating all meals at the Robertson because it was just too delicious, and there are so many options with the cafe, bar and restaurant all on site. The building is showing a few minor signs of dilapidation—a few holes in the ceiling, a boarded up window here and there, a tear in the carpet—but we loved spotting these, a reminder that we were in a historic building and hadn't actually been transported back in time.

It is really hard to find fault with our stay at the Robertson Hotel, except that it was far too short. The only thing that was a minor inconvenience is that the pulley system for the old sash windows in our room had long since expired, so we had to prop the windows open with toilet rolls to get airflow through the room. We had also expected to see ducks, but the coops were empty.

Location was perfect. Bar man was entertaining & very good at his job. Lady on reception was fabulous and very helpful

Shared bathroom was cold, nowhere to put your possessions in the shower, mouldy & definitely need an upgrade. High tea today was below average and the main waitress was unfriendly and unable to solve problems.

Loved the grandeur of this historic hotel and the cosy atmosphere created by multiple fires in open hearths and period furnishings. Our dinner near the fireplace was unexpectedly delicious, menu well constructed and food perfectly cooked and presented to us by the highly professional Luca.

The buffet breakfast would be far better replaced with some fresh fruit, croissants and cook to order eggs. The bain-marie hot food was cold and unappetising. No muesli or fresh fruit.

Lovely ambience in this hotel which is being tastefully modernised. Enjoyed a cozy evening by the fire in the spacious living room and a walk round the expansive gardens next morning, including down to the disused railway stop for Ranelagh that once serviced the property. There is a lot of history here and the establishment exudes glimpses of yesteryear and a grand or lavish past. Lovely high ceilings, stained glass windows, grand staircase leading to the upstairs rooms from the entrance hall, various dining areas and a bar. Staff went out of their way to be helpful and all were exceptionally welcoming. Bedroom was spacious in size with a good, king size bed and the ensuite was modern with fittings that reflected the property's vintage.

The shower was screened by a shower curtain rather than by glass. The scope for unpacking bags was limited - there was, however, a garment rail with a shelf above it.

Enjoyed checking in, looking around at the art, the grounds, the beds are heavenly, the ladies bathroom even though communal was very lovely as well as kept clean and breakfast.

Needs some work with cobwebs, broken windows and up keep of the grounds and pool. Also with disjointed service where we had to pay for dinner and drinks but a deposit was taken for incidentals. Our dinner was lovely but the eye fillet was overcooked which we mentioned and desert took forever which was a cold piece of cake ever so nicely presented thou.
