osnen is fantastic.

Had a hard time getting robes that fit me. Maybe they could ask guests before arrival what they need.

Great location. Very friendly staff at the reception.

Moss restaurant is unfortunately closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. The SPA restaurant and the Lava restaurant are not up to the standard. Lava is promoted as gourmet dining but that's way off! Most of the restaurant staff is not very attentive and most of them not even friendly. SPA restaurant and Retreat pool fills up with people staying in the Sicilia Hotel who just walk in - as a high rate paying guest of the Retreat you wonder why you have to go through a waiting list to get a table while Sicilia guests dine......

We were expecting a 5 star experience and we received a 5 star experience. From the moment we stepped in & received the complimentary glass of Moet and our bags were whisked away to our room the experience met all expectations. The architecture is sublime, the service exemplary, the environment 1st class. I can fault nothing. Even the Northern Lights performed! (although I acknowledge that this is beyond the hotel's control!!). We stayed 2 nights, wish it had been 3. We stayed for our 30th anniversary and we couldn't have picked a better experience to celebrate.

This place is out of this world! It’s like no place I’ve ever visited… not only the amazing staff and luxury spa facilities but a truly unique location!

I’m 13 months alcohol free and it’s disappointing little effort is made for guests who want to drink alcohol free beer or spirits with their meal or pre/post meal. Becks Blue? There are so many high quality options available. Please try harder… especially for a health retreat!

Loved the architecture, the lighting in the rooms, the BEST shower, access to the private parts of the Blue Lagoon (especially nice at night), comfortable beds, wonderful service, good breakfast, excellent dinner at Moss, super relaxing water massage, great facial. Loved the robes, slippers, and wool poncho (that was gifted to me by my friend!) Just a very wonderful experience.

It was the most expensive resort I have ever stayed at.

The location and facility are exceptional. Stylish, attention to detail, spectacular views, great ritual experience. Staff is polite. Food is also very good.

In a total of 4 different trips to this hotel, we have never managed to book one massage treatment at the spa. Reservations at the Moss restaurant are also very difficult. So advance bookings are highly recommended. Service (check in, restaurants) can also be quite slow.

Incredible truly luxury hotel, in even more incredible location, though for the price you are paying you want to receive an equally luxury and personalized service. That would not be the case in The Retreat. All stuff are very well professionally trained, though they are completely missing a touch of treating there guests with this special, alluring attitude you can find in a exceptional 5 star hotels. Another big draw back is there rooms with private lagoon. When you book it’s really misleading, couse you think that the room with private lagoon mean that you can swim directly from your room, but now. Access to the lagoon you have, but it’s cold. It was really disappointing. Specially since it will not be a problem to warm up private pool for the hotel, so I don’t understand why they will not just do it, or at least would not clearly explain it when guests are booking. worth coming for one night, but that is it.

service, luck of personalized attention, luck of access to lagoon from rooms on the ground floor, very strict tools about entering and existing times to lagoon at arrival and departure times.

Hotel staff lovely. Spa staff somewhat indifferent. Room was cozy, although mattress was a bit too big for the bed and curled over.. The breakfasts were excellent. Food at the Spa and Lava restaurant generally good enough. The green salad was a handful of lettuce, no dressing or any other salad accompaniments; the lamb was tender but bland. Bread was phenomenal.

The spa "ritual" was not my favorite. The "ritual" at the new Sky Lagoon was significantly better as was the scenery and temperature of the water. The exfoliant (large crystals of salt), silica, coarse mud and non-descript body oil was disappointing. Just not as luxurious and spacious as Sky Lagoon. Too costly all things considered. Not enough material left in the room about day trips or other spa services. Gift shop could have carried more handmade items from Iceland. Jewelry selection limited. No books or current happenings in Iceland, such as the new volcano erruption.

Stunning location and building. Rooms are lovely. Spa is fabulous. Very calm relaxing atmosphere. Great decor.

We loved the place. It would have good though to have been asked shoe size beforehand for flip flops and slippers. Hotels always put out small size slippers for women. So they were too small for me. Would also like to have time schedule for breakfast and afternoon tea on the iPad menu, if they were on the iPad, I couldnt find them, so missed tea by about 10 minutes. Know hotels dont do this, but it would also be great to have a mattress option, if possible on room selection. Our mattress was too soft for us. Also need more staff in restaurants: Lava and breakfast area.

This was our favorite hotel ever, period. Their private Blue Lagoon pools were so beautiful. We were in and out of them all day. The restaurants were all delicious. Moss was super delicious - every course - and also a really fun experience. Not pretentious. And for lunch I recommend the the teriyaki beef carpaccio in the spa restaurant. So good! (And even more fun to have in your bathrobe between swims!)

Literally, nothing not to like. Oh, wait, they have a beautiful gym with fancy touchscreen treadmills and such, but there are no fans on the equipment, and I was very hot jogging, so I'd suggest keeping that gym about 10 degrees colder. (Fehrenheit. No one wants frost bite!)
