Staff helpful & friendly. Clean & tidy & bedroom nicely decorated. Great having a well equipped communal kitchen to make lunch or evening meal. Communal lounge area with TV also good. Very good buffet breakfast which is also available for early flights. Restaurant & mini market easy walk away. Staff kindly booked taxi for me to airport. A nice place to stay.

A bit far to walk to Keflavik town about 1 hour 10 (which I did) as I wanted to see the town. There may be a bus that goes there. (There's a supermarket closer, 48 mins walk away in another town). Taxi to airport expensive for me K4500 & it's only a 8-10 minute journey. I was in a 4 bed dorm so people coming & going early or late, but to be expected as near the airport.

When I read that it was a hostel, I was scared that my wife and son would be sharing a room with strangers. Had this been the case, I would have preferred to stay in the airport for the night, but my wife insisted. Fortunately, I was wrong. We had a private room with a private bathroom(I understand that some of the rooms share a bathroom). It was perfect. I felt that the environment was both safe and private. The rooms were very clean and it was just a very nice place stay in-between flights. The free breakfast was also a rather good addition since understand not all the hotels have such an option.

Like everything in Iceland, you can expect to pay more. This place was relatively cheap, but you're still paying more than you would in Croatia or Ukraine (where I lived previously). Can't blame Start for that, but it's worth mentioning.

Came for an over-night sleep because of a long layover in Iceland, and booked a dorm last minute when I arrived at the airport at around midnight. Very nice staff, good breakfast buffet that starts at 4am, reception open all night so easy to check-in for a late arrival, and quiet dorm room w hot shower. Every accommodation in Iceland was expensive but this was the cheapest option in the area near the airport.

Bit far from the airport so must take a taxi - this is not in the hostel's control, but there are no ubers and taxis are very expensive from the airport.

The property was great. It was clean, friendly staff and the bed was super comfy. Breakfast was a nice spread. I had to taxi to the property as the next bus wasnt for another 1.5 hours and it cost me $50 Canadian for a 10 Minute taxi trip. Crazy! Anyway the reception helped me get another person so we can share the taxi back to the airport the next am.

Well I felt like for a hostel hotel, the price was on the high side, especially when you’re sharing a room with 3 others. And it’s in a location where there isn’t much around at all.

The staff at Start went above and beyond to make sure I had everything i needed for my stay. I forgot my EU style power adapter, but Simon at reception hooked me up with an adapter on loan. The breakfast was excellent and full of choices. It was paired well with delicious coffee, tea, and juices. The shared bathrooms were spacious and well kept.

There should be instructions on how to operate the radiator heat in the room. I woke up freezing cold because one of my roommates had opened a window overnight, rather than adjust the heat in the room.

I would particularly like to thank SZYMON at the front desk who was exceptionally helpful. We arrived in the midst of a huge storm which left hundreds of people stranded on the airport floor all night long. Szymon answered questions sent by email throughout the night and morning, booked the last room available, and upon arrival supplied an adapter to charge and ordered a taxi for the return. His colleagues were most helpful also. Thank you for dealing so well with a crisis for so many travellers! E. Blake

Hospitality was second to none. We stayed there two nights, then left our bike boxes there for several days and stayed there again the last night. They allowed us to repack our bikes in the lobby to be out of the weather. Then, they OFFERED to run us to the airport in the morning so we could take our bike boxes, luggage and us all in one trip! No charge for bike storage or the trip to the airport. The rooms were much bigger than expected with their own bathrooms and an excellent breakfast was included. In addition, there was a large shared kitchen that had everything in it one might need. Only 10 minutes from the international airport. Very quiet location. The hosts were accommodating and spoke excellent English.

This place is a perfect place to rest after a long day in Iceland. Front desk staff is wonderful. Breakfast was absolutely great! Our room was in perfect condition. Real clean and well thought. We shared a bathroom and were kind of afraid of it, but it ended up being a smooth experience. Location is also a plus, near the airport! I highly recommend this place, and we will be coming back if we have the fortune to come back to Iceland.

The hotel is close to the Keflavik airport, so if you need a place to stay by the airport, it's great. We had a late-arriving flight, so to only have to drive a few minutes was perfect. Also, they start serving breakfast at something like 4:30 a.m., so if you have an early flight, it's also convenient. The hotel is not by anything touristy or sightseeing-worthy, but that's not its point. The breakfast was totally fine and had enough variety that the whole family was happy (standard European meats, breads, cheeses, some cereals, juices, coffee, milk, etc.). The rooms worked just fine and were as advertised. We were especially happy to see a very non-European water fountain in the hallway by our room. Elevator made getting suitcases to our room easy. Everything was clean. The front desk staff spoke English well and quickly fixed the one problem we had.

Nothing of significance. When we arrived, one of our rooms had clearly not been visited by housekeeping. The front desk staff quickly remedied the situation.

The hostel was as described. Clean, comfortable and good quality beds, super friendly staff and bonus for super early breakfast too, it’s nice to catch something to eat before morning flight. Value for money, especially if you want to catch some sleep before/between flights.

It was a bit tricky to get to the hostel without taxi or your own car, especially late evening/early morning times. The hostel is not walkable from the airport. Some fruits/veggies at breakfast were not that fresh. Room temperature was a bit high for those who prefer sleeping in below 20 degrees.
