When we read about the three-course gourmet breakfast, we didn't expect it will be three courses of excellent, flavourful and masterful food that will fill your heart and tummy until dinner time (yes we couldn't eat lunch during our stay there because we were still full)! The bed was so comfy, the linen was crisp and fresh that lulled us into blissful sleep every night. The little library had some great books we could borrow during the stay. The house is filled with tasteful antique furniture and antique decorations, it is charming and comforting. If you are used to modern decor and accessories this may not be your place, but it sure does deliver the best food, best sleep, friendly hosts who treat you like you are family. If there is anything you need, you can ask and they will try and accommodate it. When they heard our toddler loves berries, they brought her freshly picked berries from the garden every morning. Bill picked and dropped us at the ferry on our arrival and departure. The goodbye felt like we were leaving our parents' not just someone who hosted us for 4 nights. I tried recreating Margaret's salmon omelette but it just doesn't turn out like how she made them. But I have bought a copy of her cookbook from the 'Real McHugh' herself and will be diving into them soon. It is definitely one of our most memorable and relaxing holidays in NZ.

The breakfast was amazing! the presentation and variety and amount of food was fabulous. The dinner was really lovely - it was pouring with rain and I didnt feel like eating out - so a beautiful dinner was made and the wine topped it off. I enjoyed talking to the hosts and meeting their friendly dogs. Nice and close to the ferry. Cosy warm room. Off street parking.

Margareth and Bill are incredible hosts. they took such good care of us we didn’t want to leave. The room was so cozy and comfortable it was hard to get up but the smell of the fresh pastries they had for us for breakfast helped lol. Their three course breaky was the best we had in all of NZ. Amazing stay!

Nothing. Everything was perfect!

We had a fabulous night, such a comfortable bed and spacious room and bathroom. We enjoyed a meal prepared by Margaret, it was extremely generous and delicious as was the breakfast. I am looking forward to reading Margaret's recipes and adventures in her cook book. Lovely to meet Bill as well.

very good - the hostess is a chef and about to release a book - it is obvious that entertaining and meeting people is their passion. We arrived very late at night after a delayed ferry crossing and they were happy to meet and greet us. It was pity we arrived so late as I think we could have had great conversations about our world travels.

No dislikes.

3 course breakfast included in the rate was amazing!

there are no cooking facilities but for one night that is not a problem - especially when you get breakfast as part of the booking
