February 2024

Great hotel with nice baroque vibes in the rooms and big bathroom ! We didn’t get to enjoy the swimming pool much because it was still February but the area is super nice to chill, tan and read. Good location on the southern part of the island close to El Golfo and the southern beaches (Papagayo). Very nice personnel, decent breakfast.

The main point was - as in strangely many other accommodation offers on the island - that the room didn’t have a real double bed but two simple beds stuck together. I messaged the hotel right after the booking asking about the type of room and being clear that we were travelling as a couple so the simple beds were a disappointment. The hotel said the beds type varied upon availability and that the hotel was full at the time but even so I just don’t understand the logic - 90% of the clientele that week were clearly couples, a few with kids, and maybe one solo traveller. They should just have spare double mattresses and equip the room accordingly to the bookings 🤷‍♀️

Lovely hotel in an incredible location. Very peaceful, very clean. Nothing much more I can say!

I booked the hotel believing breakfast was included, and when I arrived I was simply told that breakfast was from 8:30 to 10:30, not anything about it not being included. So I went the first two days, before receiving a message telling me I had to pay extra and to go and settle up as soon as possible. My mistake, but I felt this maybe could have been handled with a bit more class, although to be honest the breakfast was not the best and the cafes in the village are excellent anyway!

Staff were always very friendly and helpful. Room was light and spacious, clean and very comfortable. Good bathroom/shower facilities. The food was delicious. The hotel breakfast had a great selection of fruit, pastries, cereal, juice, meat and cheese. In the evening their restaurant has a varied menu of local cuisine, great wines and a daily option of freshly caught grilled fish. Swimming pool is small but always clean and a nice temperature to swim in. Sun beds and jacuzzi were always quiet during our stay. The hotel is positioned in a quiet spot in the pretty town of Yaiza. It was a great location to travel around the island, and the staff were always helpful with recommendations of things to see and do. We had a rental car and there was always easy parking nearby the hotel.

There was nothing we didn’t like. Staff were always happy to help whenever there was anything we needed.

this structure has a very pleasant vintage look and has been carefully modernized without betraying its origins We were lucky enough to stay in the old area in a large and bright room. Breakfast is good but is served too late in my opinion as the starting time is 8.30 in the morning but I think it is late for those who are planning an excursion. The buffet is very rich but has a choice of sweet rather than savory and a good part of the buffet is fruit only, I would have liked more variety and some scrambled eggs but overall I'm satisfied. The staff is friendly and helpful and we appreciated the presence of "Claudia the cat" who was treated very well by everyone

the wi-fi didn't work the entire time of our stay, I have reported this problem several times but it has never been resolved. Other than that I have no other problems to report.

Charming hotel! Very friendly receptionist and other staff, great Bodega restaurant! Very good location to see the Island. We really recommend because it s cheap and cosy. Some tips for the hotel: please chance the towels every 2 nights , we had no towel changes in four nights, the shower was not so clean. There was hair and also dusty in the room . Despite the reviews Here the breakfast is really okay. All in all we had a great stay and we recommand if you are on a budget . Note that Yaiza is beautiful but not lively. You need a car ! The lady at the reception is hilarious and soooo nice . We love her !

Shower with hair en no towel chance in four nights

La Casona de Yaiza is a beautiful hotel in a lovely old building in Yaiza with a well thought out garden and relaxing pool area at the back. The restaurant was really nice as well. The staff were very helpful on check in, for example, arranging for a bike to be dropped off for me to rent during my stay, telling me all about the best local options, and arranging for a taxi to drop me off at the airport when I left. The room was comfortable with a nice terrace with a rack to dry towels and swimwear, which was useful.

The breakfast could have been a bit more inspired with a bit more choice or ordering options. The rooms were nice, but could be made even better with a few small touches like a bottle of water, small fridge, or perhaps tea/coffee making options, or sun loungers on the terrace rather than just a table and two small chairs. It would also have been nice to get a double bed (as originally requested), rather than two singles. The pool was lovely, but very cold!

Beautiful building (we were in the old building). The location was excellent to explore the south part of the island and to access the volcanic natural park. Also the restaurant of the hotel was excellent surprise.

Breakfast was OK, nothing special. Coffee was not good (seems to be a instant powder coffee). The person at the front desk was also not really informed about the volcanic national park activities and opening hours. She told us it was « low season » and we could go when we want. Fortunately we did go early and avoided the massive waiting queue starting at 10am.

We really liked the breakfast food. The beds were very comfy as well, and the location was just perfect!

We tried to use the hot tub but it looked a bit dirty so we didn't dare. I was quite excited to see the quirky rooms but we were put in a new annexed villa they have expanded to. It was perfectly fine and new, but definitely quite different vibe to the rest of their rooms! So if you'd like to stay in one of their more rustic rooms I'd add it on the notes when booking the hotel.

It was reasonably priced. Staff extremely pleasant, spotlessly clean. Beautiful restaurant on site and the bus route into Playa Blanca was convenient. Scenery just outside was breathtaking.

I said we would be checking in at 1pm but unfortunately we didn't get in to our room until close to 3pm. It delayed some of our plans for the day. I was also told that the room would have 2 bedrooms, one with bunk beds which my daughter was excited about but the room we got wasn't the room I was sent photos for.

We had a very nice and stylish room in a beautiful old colonial building but as we could see not all rooms are like that to maybe check that up front, the rooms in the other buildings are pretty modern. Breakfast is very average which was suprising considering one of the best restaurants on the entire island is in the hotel (make sure to make a reservation up front). The food at dinner was very good! Very very quiet hotel!

Maybe not the best value for money
