Almost everything regarding our stay was wonderful and as we expected; the staff were friendly, the room was clean, comfortable and came with a lovely view, the breakfast was a delight. We would love to come and stay again, but only when the summer season is well and truly underway.

The only downside was that our stay had a distinct 'out of season' feel to it, which is strange, given that we are in mid-late April now. We had not planned on having dinner at the hotel, but were informed upon check-in that the restaurant would not be open for dinner. We did not know this in advance and could potentially have left us with a bit of a problem. Having returned from dinner elsewhere later that evening, the hotel felt rather deserted. Other than the lady at the check-in desk, we did not see any other guests or hotel staff at all, until the next morning during breakfast.

Nice view, bright room, perfect location, very quiet. Stuff member who checked us in, wry professional and lovely lady.

Mattress had a dip on one side, didn’t have any sleep. Breakfast service very alive but food was delicious. Cleanliness could be better, lampshade was very dusty what was right in front of you when you lay down on your bed. Bathroom didn’t feel clean, marks on panel around toilet, shower room with build up limescale, bath tub water temperature was keep changing from very hot to cold

Everything apart from Breakfast

Breakfast it doesn’t work like normal buffet- you have to order which is fine but you can see facial expressions which is disappointing. It felt like we were judged and watched what we are eating. One person serving everyone and then the room service too. Long wait which is understandable due to sickness but we were not expecting reaction on every time asking for more croissants or tea.

the staff was very helpful and made my stay. The room was very nice with all the things I needed. For the price of the room and as the hotel has a noted restaurant, I felt there should have been homemade biscuits for the coffee tray in the room. The breakfast was excellent, the ingredients were of a high quality.

The rooms were expensive. Breakfast started at 8.30am, maybe 8am would have been better.

We booked a Sea View Room, No.5 was allocated and this had a large picture Window overlooking the Harbour and Bay, this was superb and indeed made the Holiday, Breakfast was 5 Star and catered for all of our requirements, a comprehensive selection Menu and also they catered for addons and personal choice amenedments

We did not find any areas or matters arising to detail any negative comments, the Stay at the Hambrough was truly exceptional.

The hotel was very well placed for the town. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The bedrooms were a really good size with sofas and chairs to relax in. Wonderful sea views and balcony. Food was of a very high standard.

Cleaning away the black mould around the window frames. A better choice of evening meal and not the same choices every night.

Fabulous location. Very helpful and friendly staff with lots of great suggestions, particularly Tushar, Peter and the front of house receptionist. Amazing food, both at breakfast and at dinner and deserving of its Michelin star. As the menu does not change every day, the chef made us a special. off the menu meal on our second night.

The car park at the back was a challenge as it is up a steep and fairly narrow incline - I understand that it and other nearby properties have recently been acquired by the hotel and there are expansion plans afoot - so they may improve it.

Very welcoming staff, made us feel right at home. The hotel and room were very clean and comfortable. We had room 2 and the view from the balcony was phenomenal! Although it was December we managed to see a lovely sunset and sun rise. Great views down towards the harbour and out to sea. Breakfast was outstanding! On street parking and also parking at the back of the hotel

It is the staff and the restaurant that makes this hotel! Everyone involved is so keen to ensure we had a great stay. Nothing was too much trouble and the staff were genuinely interested in our needs. The restaurant menu and food are very creative and delicious! Some areas of the hotel need a little maintenance but nothing major. A great experience. Good value for money and we will definitely stay again. Thank you!

Some minor maintenance needed.

Superb room with balcony and lovely view. All very comfortable. We also had a wonderful nouvelle cuisine meal from Matthew Tomkinson - chef - at the hotel one evening. Very expensive but well worth it!

A rather brisk approach from one of the staff when ordering breakfast. You felt you should only order very few items from the menu. Didn't seem generous considering the price paid for the accommodation.
