Very helpful staff, we didn't like our rooms so they upgraded us, at a cost but the 2 new rooms were great overlooking the sea. Breakfast was a little chaotic one of the mornings as it seemed to be 2 young members of staff with no guidance, they did an amazing job as the breakfast room was heaving. Felt sorry for them as people were getting grumpy and they were doing their best. Having said that we didn't wait long for our cooked breakfast. I would describe the hotel as a bit old school, it has lots of different levels and corridors. The pool was nice. Location was excellent for us being opposite the lift equally between the seafront and the Old Town.

Limited parking so we used a nearby street. Table tennis balls misshapen, sauna and indoor bowls closed. Very hot in the stairways.

I had a very warm welcome from the staff who did everything possible to make my stay at Ocean View a memorable one. I was gven a free upgrade from a single standard room to a large double room with a sea view because my visit was at a very quiet time (weekdays in March). An excellent breakfast was included in the price of my room. The view from my room was magnificent - overlooking the sea. The hotel is just a stone's throw from the beach. A really outstanding feature of my stay was the really excellent quality of the food at dinner. I will not forget the homemade mushroom soup in a hurry! Thank you to all the staff, including the chef, at the Ocean View Hotel, Shanklin.

Everything was excellent, including the swimming pool.

The room was lovely and comfortable. The sea view was excellent sea view. Breakfast and dinner were very good. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Enjoyed the swimming pool. Evening entertainment in the bar was great fun!

There were few parking spaces but we were lucky to get one. There wasn't much information about what was available in the hotel - eg, swimming pool opening times, nature and times of evening entertainment, availability of pre-ordered packed lunches.

The location and proximity to the cliff lift and Shanklin Chine was perfect ! Really friendly Manager Nice balcony with a good side sea view and over the church.

No lace curtain like the other rooms. If we wanted to change at any point we had to close the main curtains, otherwise rooms accross could see right in. Zero soundproofing, lets just say we really felt part of the neighbours ventures... Bed was pretty ropey, decor needs a bit of Modernizing. Definately a retreat for elderly coach parties.

The staff were very very friendly and helpful and couldn't do enough to make our stay a happy one, if I could I would give them all 11 out of 10, the room was comfortable but basic, which was my own fault for not booking direct and getting more information

The only let down for us was the breakfast we paid £19.90 asked for two full English breakfast without beans and received one egg one very under cooked slice of bacon one sausage half a tomato and a very small piece of I believe fried bread which was all cold and a pot of tea which we managed to get one small cup each, very poor value for money

great staff and when the breakfast hall was VERY busy due to valentines they came over to serve us within 10 minutes , we were greeted with “hello, how was your day” upon every return over the 3 days. the rooms were clean and they were well layer out.

our only dislike was that it was a little dated but we were the youngest guests in the venue and I think it’s definitely somewhere the older community would prefer instead of younger people but it’s a little thing that’s totally ignorable

I went as a solo traveller and was given a balcony triple room with a spectacular view. Very clean. Nice hot shower. comfortable bed. great location. lovely pool. Friendly staff. Plenty of breakfast choice. What more could I ask?

Bar wasn't open and entertainment started the day I had to leave, but hotel was not very full so quite understandable.

We loved having a balcony and a wonderful sea view. It was very helpful having a lobby for coats and luggage. The en siute bathroom was a good size. The bed was comfortable and the lighting adequate. A comfortable room where we could relax.

The bedroom furniture was a little shabby. The lights on the balcony could not be turned off by us when we we ready for bed.

The breakfast was brilliant. Plenty to choose from. Didn't try evening meals as went out. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful. Catering staff and bar man were nice to talk to and helpful as what to do in local area.

The double beds were very small and maybe worn out mattress too.

the location of the property to the esplanade and the lift was exceptional , as well as the amazing staff who are all really helpful and welcoming , and the amazing views from the rooms . the facilities are fantastic and the swimming pool a massive winner for my son.
