The room was very spacious. Good level of amenities in the room and in the bathroom. Excellent dinner at the adjacent restaurant and excellent breakfast the next morning. Friendly and accommodating host. The location is in the center of the town, very picturesque, and hotel itself is located in a historic building.
The CO alarm woke me up in the middle of the night. Why would one even have a CO alarm in a hotel room? Also, very low hanging ceiling in the hallway and in the room - so if you're tall, watch out! But those are minor nits, we really enjoyed our stay.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Douglas hotel. The staff were super nice and the room was cozy, clean, full of sunlight, and right in the centre of town. I liked that there were thick and low pillows and that coffee, tea, but also instant porridges was available. We went to relax and evade the city for a few days and that was the perfect place to be. There are several walking paths you can take from there, and although the village is very small, you can walk to grocery stores, cafes, and a few shops around there.
I'd say everything was perfect and we are definitely planning on visiting again, but we were unlucky with the weather when we were there (floods) which meant that we stayed in the room for a lot of the day at times and it did feel a bit cold in the PM. It gets toasty warm when they put the heater on at 5PM, so if you don't stay in the room during the day that really won't be a problem, but if you plan on being hermits like we were bring a little wool. :)

We received a really warm welcome from the owners who went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. The breakfast was lovely and freshly cooked. We also ate in the restaurant in the evening and the same applies. The homemade chips were to die for. The room was well appointed with kettle and drinks and good wifi connection.
Although we had a quiet room, there was quite a lot of lively chatter into the early hours - but it was a weekend, the weather was lovely and windows were open. It did not spoil our stay and we would return if we were in the area again. I was a little worried about parking. We managed to park in the small car park opposite on the first night (disc provided by the hotel), but it was full the second night of our stay. However there was safe street parking nearby which Jason kindly pointed out to us on our arrival, so my initial concerns were allayed.

Brilliant hotel, absolutely loved it. Myself and my husband stayed here over a weekend whilst attending a local event at Samye Ling. This is a lovely small family run hotel and restaurant/pub. Our room was really comfy and spotlessly clean. I travel frequently for work and this was the comfiest bed I have ever slept in. We ate both nights in the restaurant, would highly recommend. Great value for money and delicious food. The staff and owners are all very friendly and welcoming, we were lucky enough to have good weather so we sat outside in the beer garden which was lovely, beautiful plants and really well looked after. We would highly recommend and will be staying here for sure in the future

I found it an excellent hotel for my visit. The owner couldn't do enough to help me enjoy my stay, even going so far as giving me a lift to my friends house, who happened to be a neighbour of his. I loved the fact that there was plenty of tea, coffee and milk in the room, and also porridge pots and cereal bars! Very handy for those who don't have a lot of time to have a sit down breakfast. Full Breakfast was very reasonable. I didn't take it, as I was going to have breakfast at my friend's house to enable me to spend more time with her. Plenty of sockets in the room too. Very comfy bed, clean linen, and luxuriously thick white towels!
Could have done with a few less stairs to negotiate as I have some mobility issues, but I managed them by taking my time. It didn't spoil my enjoyment of my stay though.

The room was quite large and the bed was extremely comfortable with a big plump duvet. Reception was efficient and friendly. The room was great value. I didn't try the breakfast or the restaurant/bar but it looked lively. Free car park directly opposite.
The decor is fading rather, but that is forgivable given the price of the room.

Breakfast was absolutely fab. good choice and the children were well catered for. Host was really helpful and approachable and have no hesitation in recommending this hotel. We had the family room with a sofa bed. I can't believe how comfy the sofabed was
The TV was dificult to use but this was my own fault for not asking as basically I couldn't be bothered as I didn't use the TV much

Douglas hotel was a gift .In truth we booked this hotel as we had family business in Langholm . So our booking was out of necessity though my partner had wanted to stay in a historic building . Our whole stay totally surpassed our expectation . Jason welcomed us with a huge smile , and the positives just went on from there. Rooms were clean and bright.Beds so comfortable , breakfast fit for kings ,We joked about Desperate Dan portion so much so we had no need to eat all day, The welcome extended right through the staff with Callum on the bar and Louie the Chef . A real lovely stay and one we have appreciated very much. Langholm go is a gift and we made the most of some fabulous walks whilst we visited

It was a little out of our way but we were persuaded by the excellent value. The room was lovely, and spotless, as was the bathroom. The curtains block out pretty much all light. Beds were pretty comfy. Bedding was immaculate. Lovely soft towels in the bathroom. The welcome tray included a couple of pots of porridge, so my kid was delighted. But the highlights of our stay were the breakfast, and how lovely the owner was to us. Great choice for breakfast, which was extra but worth every penny. Cooked to order. I've not had a breakfast that nice in ages. Even the tomatoes that are usually boring were delightful. The owner was so kind, helping with our bags, explaining everything, making sure my kids had enough to eat. Even sent my fussy one off with a piece of fruit when they wouldn't take a proper breakfast. AND carried some of our bags out to the car for us. I can't say enough good things about this hotel. If I'm ever back in the area I absolutely will stay there again.
Take earplugs if you like an early night at weekends maybe. There's bars etc downstairs and nearby. But by midnight it's all very quiet. We slept very well though. There are a lot of stairs so would be tricky for those with mobility issues.

Very comfortable clean and airy bedroom and ensuite bathroom. As cyclists we were able to utilise the hotel drying room which was extremely helpful. We were able to store our bikes securely. Breakfast was freshly made with good quality products. Our hosts were very approachable, helpful and friendly. Langholm is a lovely, relaxing and delightful wee town. We would visit again.
