Really nice hotel well located in Chicago downtown, but a bit expensive.
I did not like the fact we had to pay a $30 fees per day and per person (no opt out option possible) for the use of gym facilities (that we did not want to use), water in the room and coffee in the lobby in the morning. That is a huge cost and we did not have choice but to pay it, even if you don’t care about what it does cover. It makes the room very expensive for stuffs that I would have prefer to opt out. Disappointing.

Location, Staff, Room Design, quiet HVAC Unit
On our second day we came back to the room at 3:30 PM to dress for a wedding that evening, we found that we had not received any housekeeping services from the previous night. No clean towels, no made bed, no brush and tidy up the room. Around 1 1/2 hours after a couple of calls we received some clean towels. The reason I was given our room was not cleaned was that the hotel was "short staffed". The price of the room includes maid service that we did not receive. I strongly suggest that the bathrooms should be equipped with a night light. Most hotels this amenity as a safety feature for the guests.

I stayed in the Allegro Royal Sonesta Hotel Chicago Loop for 5 nights for my 2nd majors marathon. When I checked in, the hotel reception gave me a warm welcome , and when I asked questions regarding the public transport CTA and boat tour, Hetal the receptionist gave me clear and specific directions and information how to get there. My room was big , warm and comfortable. On the Sunday marathon day the hotel gave runners a special breakfast in the lobby. The hotel wasn’t very far from the start and finish marathon event.

Hotel has a great location. There were some confusing and extra fees at the time of checking in. The lady that checked us in was very unfriendly and we felt uncomfortable asking her for clarification! The next day we were explained about a fee that they charge daily as a resort fee and Chicago taxes, but then they give you daily snacks for compensation. I still didn't understand too well. They took a pretty big chunk for a deposit, I think it was about 300$ and I believe hotels usually ask for 100 to 150$ but the Chicago tax law which was another 32$ a night. Like I mentioned, there were some extra fees at the time of check in so keep that in mind. The hotel is beautiful and they offer coffee and tea in the morning which was a nice touch. The room was nice, however the bed could have been comfier.I left my pajama pants on my bed and housekeeping threw them away. :(

This property is close walking distance to all the popular sites and is very close to all public transportation. The staff was extremely friendly, especially Monica. She really helped to make my birthday special. She went above and beyond with her hospitality. The room was quite spacious and very clean. The bed was extremely comfortable, and housekeeping did a wonderful job cleaning daily. The hotel itself was beautiful and very well-maintained. This was my first time in Chicago and staying at this property just made the experience so much more enjoyable.
The property was perfect. I only wish that they offered breakfast.

- Very comfortable bed, - Very good downtown location - Near theaters, restaurants; 24/7 convenience stores within 2 blocks - Free coffee in the morning - Beautifully decorated room - The hotel has an eStandby upgrade system where you can get a room upgrade, possibly at a discounted price, (30% discount in my case to upgrade from a preferred king bed room to a 1-bedroom suite) and choose different early check-in and late check-out options for a fixed price. You select which upgrade(s) you want and only pay if the request is awarded. - Pool Table on the lobby floor!
- The cupboards seemed older and did not fully fit with the overall decor of the room. - It was difficult to watch the television in the suite living area because it was facing a wall instead of the couch/chairs and could only be turned 45 degrees. - Only one power outlet in the suite living room area and you have to move the chair very near the wall if you want to use your mobile phone while charging it. - No mini-bar despite the room description saying "this suite also provides a fully-stocked mini-bar"

We used to stay often at this hotel when it was a Kimpton, and decided to stay here again given the favorable December rate. The location cannot be beat for enjoying downtown -- easy walking distance to all attractions and hot spot neighborhoods like River North, West Loop or Fulton Market. There is no more Kimpton wine hour, but the morning coffee and afternoon tea and scones were nice touches. The lobby and bar area was as welcoming and glamorous as ever. Our room, a large King, was very spacious and comfortable
Just keep in mind that the theater next door is remodeling. On a Saturday morning, they started construction at 7am in the morning. The staff was very responsive when we called, but it took a long time (1.5 hours) for them to get the theater to stop the noise.

Great hotel with perfect location. Proximity to almost everything, commute transport, grocery stores, cafes, restaurants, attractions. Rooms are of high quality and super comfy bedding. I would like to highlight the hospitality of Shah (Sarthak), who made my check-in and my stay super smooth and comfortable. He was eager to help and made sure I had a good experience at the Allegro Royal Sonesta Hotel. 100% recommendation.
The room walls were a bit thin so it could be a bother for people who are sensitive to noise while sleeping. Otherwise everything was perfect.

Large, well appointed rooms with no noise from the city. Location allowed us to walk throughout downtown Chicago close to Magnificient Mile and Millenium park as well as restaurants
The $32 dollar extra per night (not included in the booking fee) was supposed to cover two bottles of water per room per day but thsi was only received on day 1. It was also to cover coffee and cakes in the afternoon from 2pm to 4pm - a time you are unlikely to be at the hotel.

The staff were very accommodating and nice. I spoke with the events manager Lauren Beale who very graciously upgraded our room as we were interested in the spaces for a wedding and reception, and did this as a courtesy.
Though it was a small thing, I thought the furniture in our room looked a little dinged up and worse for wear. The rest of the hotel was extremely clean and well furnished, so I will admit I was surprised at this.
