It was a good location, close to the Loop. Excellent breakfast . Fast elevators. Clean and comfortable room and bedding. Sofa bed was highly uncomfortable, though. very thin mattress. Kitchen was well supplied. The room was spacious.

We come back over and over to this hotel since it's really nice, safe, and centrally located. The king suites have lovely large windows with blackout curtains and are very comfortable and convenient. Everything is beautiful, impeccably maintained, up to date, and clean. The staff are so kind and helpful and the breakfast is always fantastic. The fitness center is nice too. I feel safer with the check in reception on the second floor. The sound proofing is fantastic in the rooms - better than average. I never hear my neighbors.
The only thing that would be next level would be if they installed water filters like you see in airports and more and more hotels. That would be convenient for refilling water bottles and the coffee machines with safer, cleaner water than the tap. The fitness center in the lower floor does have a water system though.

The rooms were beautiful. I had a group of 24 people--21 were high school students. The location was great to walk from Amtrak and to the Art Institute. Ruben the bellman was especially helpful finding us a place to store our luggage while we explored the city. He was so nice! The breakfast was also fantastic and we appreciated it being complimentary as we were on a tight budget.
It would have been ideal if our rooms were closer together as I had to do room checks. The students were on levels 6-19.

Door /Reception staff - friendly, fun and just nice people!! the breakfast restaurant- amazing variety of food daily, plus gorgeous atmosphere and clean. The rooms were clean and set up well. One of our beds was the Murphy bed and I loved that! I would stay here again ! Thank you for a wonderful stay!
TV went out on some floors 2nd of 3 nights there and they offered to move our room. Honestly, we were not in room enough to care that much but this is only tomy thing I can think of!

We were able to walk very easily from the train station. Our room was excellent, and the staff were very helpful. Breakfast was wonderful!
The only small change I would suggest is being a little clearer about labeling what allergens are in the breakfast bar items. I have a gluten allergy and although the wait staff tried to help they weren't sure about different dishes.

Two main things to consider. First, it is historical building in the very heart of historical downtown, location is perfect and I would recommend everyone to experience old-style hotel in the stone labyrinth of 1930s skyscrapers. Gorgeous dining hall with polished wooden tables, old-style with those armchairs and carpet. Even elevators covered with wooden panels :) Second thing - really good breakfast, full-scale one, hot continental breakfast, like in old good pre-COVID times. Add here extremely nice and polite stuff, spotless clean hallways and rooms, and quite a good price for Chicago downtown... All reasons to stay here. Ah, yes, and they offer you option of the studio with kitchenette, and it is really nice sometimes, to have one, right?
Well, the only thing I may say is some aesthetic criticism :) We stayed in another hotel before, and I like that hotel more just because room was more cosy and nice. Here in Residence inn they are limited in part by the old style of building itself, but still room may be more... Comfortable to live in? But it is purely personal. Nothing universally negative comes to my mind :)

The location was good and it was a beautiful hotel and very comfortable.
I was not told that parking was going to be extra $50 per day . 3xDay stay increased by a $150. When we booked the hotel it's showd parking available available was not notified about the extra charges. Do not mislead customers it should say paid parking available And how much The extra $150 was upsetting.

we called the front desk twice - both days they sent appropriate staff up to our room in a very timely manner to fulfill our requests. they allowed us to check in about 2 hours early, which was great. the parking garage validation worked well. their full breakfast was great! way tastier than most hotel breakfasts. we ran into housekeeping twice and they were lovely. the location is quieter than River North, which is nice if you like space.

The Residence Inn was a perfect location for my morning meeting coupled with my day meeting destination.
The kitchenette had glass marks on the counter that were not wiped clean and I would have liked an alert that parking was not readily available. For a single female arriving after dark, it was awkward to leave my bags, park the car and then walk back to the Inn. For someone who is not familiar with the city, it was a bit unsettling.

The breakfast was expansive, and the dining area was beautiful. Plenty of seating.
The prices were very high (as were all hotels) that weekend. A lot to spend for 1 night. So while it was beautiful, comfortable, staff was so helpful and friendly, I will never be able to say that it was worth >$900/night.
