The staff goes above and beyond to make your stay memorable. Despite being upset over the fire place situation our first time around, I couldn't complain -- as the rooms were beautiful, the breakfast was incredible, and we've stayed twice so far, so I'd imagine we'll be back sometimes soon.

On New Years Eve my fiancé and I stayed in one of the rooms with a fireplace. We were informed we couldn't use the fire place in our room as it was too warm outside to do so -- which was disappointing because I did pay for the fire place room specifically so I could propose to my fiancé by the fire place. Despite that small disappointment it ended up being an incredible night. So much so we returned over the weekend (this time in room 7) which overlooked the backyard. Such a lovely stay.

Quintessential colonial New England charm! This is a lovely, rambling inn chock full of historical architectural details, beautiful art/furniture/wallpaper, and little sitting nooks while still having modern amenities and creature comforts (beds were A+). The fireplaces were so cozy on chilly mornings/afternoons. Perfect location in the middle of the historic town center (there's plenty of parking in back) with easy walking distance to boutiques and restaurants (The Landing is a 5 minute walk). Salem and other busy tourist destinations are only about 10 minutes away but Marblehead somehow feels tucked away like a pocket of calm. The breakfasts were substantial with lots of choices (fruit, granola, eggs, cereals, home baked muffins/breads, etc.) and plenty of gluten-free options. The hotel industry was hit hard by the pandemic, but you'd never know it here, the staff were so present and helpful, the rooms were thoroughly and spotlessly clean, and every detail was attended to. When I say the rooms were clean, I mean that I've literally stayed at five star hotels that didn't have housekeeping as good. Major kudos to the Harbor Light housekeeping team! Highly recommend for a couples get away, a friends or family get together, or for anyone traveling who wants a classic "New England" experience on their vacation (it's an easy drive from the airport and you don't even have to drive through the madness of Boston city traffic).

As with many historic properties, some of the rooms might be a little difficult for those with mobility challenges so would recommend calling ahead and talking about your needs with guest services.

In the center of the historic district with restaurants & parks within walking distance. Nicely decorated, and comfortable bed. Nice pool. Good shower water pressure.

Difficult parking & unloading of luggage. Many stairs, not handicapped accessible. Bathroom is very small & not much room for toiletries. All furniture is uncomfortable, and pillows are lumpy. Beware, the cost of a glass of wine at their bar is $20!! Good breakfast, but the same thing every day & the eggs always have cheese in them.

The property is beautiful. The room was spacious and comfortable. The bathroom was small but ok. Towels were very white and nice. The staff was very kind and friendly. The pool area and the pool was wonderful

Almost everything. We got a room on the 3 rd floor so was a bit hard to climb up and down. Also I would have loved to have the bed sheets crispy rather than silky. But that’s just our preference.

There was nothing not to like! everything was lovely. The cleanliness seemed spotless. The beds were very comfortable as well as the pillows. The bathroom was roomy and of course clean. It had a very nice shower, and luckily for me they provided robes. Mary at the front desk was very helpful and found us a place to go to watch the Eagles game and eat dinner. The breakfast was delicious every morning. Don't hesitate just book your room and relax and enjoy!

The only thing I would have wished for was an elevator. everything was perfect!

Cleanliness +++ (they are definitely on top of things), staffing was very attentive, continental breakfast good, had trouble with the TV and they addressed it immediately. Also I arrived earlier than the 3:00 p.m. check-in time and they were able to accommodate me almost immediately.

As I made my reservation with Bookings (a last minute decision; reservation made on my arrival day), I asked the clerk if there would be availability if I decided to stay an additional day). She said if I wanted to stay the extra day, they would have to put me in a different room at a higher price. I guess if it were me, I would have accommodated the guest with two nights at the lower rate. And I think even the Bookings rate was a little high. No ceiling light; only a couple of lamps.

We had a wonderful stay. The staff go above and beyond to make sure you feel taken care of. They have a warm fire going in the front room and breakfast room. Just a very charming Inn that’s in a quiet town with easy walking to shops, restaurants and scenic harbor views. Will definitely be back.

Our bathroom was perfectly clean and spacious, but did have a small older shower. The bed’s mattress was also just ok. Wouldn’t change anything else.

Beautiful hotel, small and quaint. The outdoor space and pool are very nice. Great bar area and the staff made us feel very welcome. Very nice shower and bathroom area. We had the early breakfast as we had to leave to catch a plane and the staff was very accommodating of our early departure. Staff recommendations for dinner were great too.

The inn was quiet and comfortable. Rooms were attractive and nicely appointed. The outdoor patio was very pleasant for having breakfast. Food was good, staff pleasant

For the price, we felt a bit nickel-and-dimed. They don't have the usual breakfast buffet right now, so guests have to place orders and select a breakfast time the night before- a bit rigid for being on vacation. And you have to ask for every little thing- sugar, jam, milk, butter. You're served one cup of coffee, wrapped in plastic wrap. Quantities of items such as toast ate limited to 1 per person. A bit stingy for almost $300 per night

Sumptuously decorated 18th c Marblehead inn, very tastefully done — I grew up in this town, and the old houses can seem stark. Instead, the owners here have carefully furnished the inn with touches from the 19th and 20th centuries too.

It can be drafty at the entrance, so bundle up in winter — it’s part of understanding the 1700s in America.
