The building was unique with lots of character. The staff were all very pleasant, helpful and kind. Muffins, scones and yogurts were freshly made for breakfast. Snacks were available too! The location was perfect. The building was in great condition. It was clean and cozy. It had a fireplace in the king deluxe room with separate in room controls for the air conditioning and heat. I definitely would recommend this place to stay.

For some reason the coffee machine wasn't hot every time I tried to make coffee. Although the staff debunked me when I told them. Coffee just didn't work for me but they had two machines. The stairs were loud when people went up and down at night. No other issues.

We were very happy with our stay. They contacted us before our arrival and stayed in contact right up until we arrived. They were the most responsive of any property we've ever stayed at. The room was very spacious and well-decorated. The bathroom was gorgeous with a great shower! The bed was very comfortable. The fireplace was romantic and kept the room nice and cozy. The complimentary snacks available around the clock in the pantry are great when you don't want to go out.

The only downside is that it's on a busy street and our room (8) was in front (3rd floor) of the house so there was a lot of traffic noise. Also, there is a subway that runs directly under the house so when a train comes through the whole house rumbles.

The staff was wonderful. They were in constant contact with us to make sure our stay was perfect. The room was clean and comfortable with beautiful decor. The location is perfect. Its right in the middle of everything but it's also quiet and peaceful. They included breakfast to go with a Nespresso machine for your use. The kitchen was also stocked with wonderful healthy snacks. We parked on site for an extra charge. Do not hesitate and book the parking spot along with your reservation because parking in Salem is awful. One of the best things about the hotel were the guests who were staying there. Everyone was friendly and pleasant and it and created such a wonderful atmosphere. The Merchant has become our new getaway spot.

Only one nightstand for a queen bed.

Everything! Size of room, amenities, drinks and snacks available and extra towels and tp were available for us to grab, parking on site, staff was helpful and friendly, water bottles available, everything we needed! Lather products were awesome! Also there were plenty of plugs for electronics! Outdoor porch and balcony were great!

Lighting in the bathroom wasn't very bright. A small table in the bathroom or ledge for toiletries etc would be great!

The Merchant was truly such a beautiful building inside and out. The interior design and overall vibes were immaculate. It was so relaxing and had anything you could need, spots to hang out inside and outside. refrigerators for your food and drinks, and complementary snacks and drinks 24/7! I also loved how close it was to everything, it was basically in the center of town and a five minute walk to all the fun shops and places! the parking situation was easy as well!

Can’t complain about a single thing

The décor of the hotel is fantastic - a modern and clean update that honors the original style of the building. The location in Salem is very, very convenient to shops, restaurants and the water.

Breakfast. It was nice to be able to get snacks and coffee as needed, but I was disappointed with the Nespresso coffee and the self-help breakfast options. Brewed coffee and fresh pastry from a local bakery seems fitting for the quality and character of the hotel.

I loved it all. This hotel has such great charm and character. The property is in the center of town so we were able to walk to everything. I loved smelling the fresh aroma of sconces being baked in the morning.

I could suggest adding in a few healthier choices for the included breakfast. Another suggestion would be to add a few games or puzzles in the lounge for families to enjoy!

what an absolute treasure of a place. Each room is gorgeous, there are fridges on the 1st and 3rd floor you can put your own items in, our room was on the 3rd floor so very convenient. Snacks are provided, and the staff are lovely. It’s smack dab in the middle of everything in Salem you could walk to any attraction, shopping or dining. housekeeping was timely? it was very quiet, we loved it!

nothing! I look forward to what they do with the Main floor lounge area, it would be lovely to have a little atmosphere, drinks maybe? it’s the perfect spot to play a game and meet other guests but I assume it’s been on hold with Covid.

the property was extremely clean, everything was decorated so beautifully. As a woman traveling alone for work I felt very safe at the merchant. check in and check out was very easy. i loved the breakfast, especially the yogurt. and complimentary treats. i can’t way to stay here again.

nothing, I loved everything about it

I loved the fact that the Merchant Inn is centrally located, which made it easy for us to explore Salem town without the need of a car. I wish though they did not charge us extra for parking. Parking should always be free for guests. I noticed there was enough parking for the number of rooms they have at the inn.

Breakfast was provided. It would have been nice if there was a choice of warm breakfast. Coffee was great however.
