BASSENA Wien Donaustadt

A very stylish hotel, modern equipment, with attention to details. It was really cosy which is not what I normally feel when being accommodated in a hotel. Really comfortable bed and the bedding as well. A coffee machine with a kettle and small fridge for your disposal. Very pleased with everything. We were surprised that they had a tablet for giving you the necessary information and also specifically offering some of their equipment in their e-shop (their bath cosmetics, beds, mattresses, bedding, design water bottle (that was really nice)). Their staff were very welcoming and helpful. Happy to stay there once again.

There was an unpleasant odour in the bathroom (not very sure where it came from, probably from the ventilation, it disappeared the other day - on our departure day, so there was no need to solve that). We didn’t use the breakfast buffet, but still were surprised by the price (21 EUR/ person). Maybe when having the experience, we would change our mind and would not hesitate to pay this price.

Nice room; fiendly staff; pleasant, friendly, comfortable atmosphere; location (near the metro U1). We were able to park our car in a public parking for 6 EURO/24 hours, near the hotel (close to the shopping mall) - WIPARK Parkplatz Schrödingerplatz.

The breakfast was OK, but I expected it to offer a wider range of options, especially in the area of ​​fresh vegetables and salads (they were serving tomatoes, cucumbers and peppers, only). Upon arrival by car, it was difficult to figure out where we could park near the hotel to unload our luggage and check-in. There are a few parking spaces, right in front of the entrance, but poorly signposted, especially since in front of the building is an area of ​​public transport stations, with traffic restrictions.

Very nice staff, clean rooms, amazing interior design. Very good soundproofing - the hotel was almost fully booked and we haven’t heard any sound from the hall or other rooms There is a shopping mall across the street, so no problem with shopping and/or dining. Excellent connection with city centre with U1 Amazing huge park in one metro stop away and also little park with playground in walking distance Overall district looks clean, new and safe

The breakfast was very good and tasty with various choices, however if you come closer to 9:30-10 something could be gone already (like vegetables or toast bread, or milk in coffee machine). Breakfast is the same every day which could be boring if you stay for more then one day. However it’s more like minor adjustments, not smth critical If you come by car, park in front of the hotel and the staff will explain you how to get to the parking as it’s impossible to get there by yourself. Parking is rather expensive (26 eur/day), but safe, so worth it in my opinion.

The room was very spacious, quiet, and the bed very comfortable. There was enough furniture to sit on outside the bed. We appreciated the coffee maker, the hangers, the window, the curtains, and, above all, the light control system. The bathroom was also spacious and arranged well. Breakfast was very good overall. There was a large selection of produce to choose from. Breads and buns were delicious. The espresso machine in the breakfast area was very good. Juices were also excellent. Bar service in the evening was also good; you could order local Viennese beer. The staff were pleasant to interact with. The location was absolutely perfect, just around three minutes from the platform of the U-Bahn station.

The only thing that might have been improved was the temperature of the scrambled eggs and bacon late during the breakfast time; when coming to breakfast around 10 AM we found these a bit cold.

The service was on point! When I asked if they had porridge in the breakfast they promptly made me a bowl and served it to me at the table. When we booked a taxi they made sure it had arrived. The packaged breakfast due to an early flight had besides the usual stuff a little box for grapes... You could really tell they understood how to make you feel taken care of. Polite, thoughtful and professional (but not subservient or overly chatty) - I'm loving the Viennese service in general and this hotel was certainly no exception. Also - super clean plus they clean every day (Swedish hotels stopped doing that ages ago). Convenient location just by the Kagan station on the U1 line.

Nothing to complain about whatsoever.

The room was great, very clean and great atmosphere. The art on the walls and the colours in the hotel made it super friendly. The staff was great as well, and we really enjoyed just killing time in the lobby. There was a water fountain in the lobby and there was a water bottle in the room so we didn't need to go out to buy bottled water, which was great.

The only thing that wasn't perfect was that the breakfast was a bit too expensive for us. We had a look around and saw that the options were good and of course the restaurant looked fantastic, but it felt like we'd pay for the experience of eating at such a great place, not for the food itself. Evetually we decided to have breakfast elsewhere.

The Bassena Wien Donaustadt is a modern and very clean Hotel with great rooms and fresh decor. It’s also in a great location - across the road from the Kagran Underground, Bus Terminal and Tram stop. Stephansplatz is approximately 15 mins from the Hotel on the Red U1 underground line. The Hotel is also directly opposite the Westfield shopping centre which has excellent shopping and food options. I would use this hotel again when visiting Vienna

Only negative is you do not have an iron & ironing board in your room. However the Hotel staff were very helpful to set up the ironing board for your use whenever required.

The hotel is well connected by subway to the central city. It is also within walking distance to the Danube, riverside park and bridge. The room was recently renovated and lighting was smart, and the bathroom was spacious and comfortable. As a 4 star hotel the hotel is inexpensive.

Two things. One of the reception staff (I did not get his name) was a bit rude and condescending, overeacting on a trivial incident, indicating lack of respect to guests and professional training. The other was the disorganization of the breakfast. The floor was dirty and sticky, and the staff appeared informally dressed, making it hard to tell whether they were hotel staff or guests.

Nice modern hotel - 20 min walk to the International Centre. Comfortable bed and good shower.

To access and play your personal Netflix account, you are directed to use screen-mirroring. Fine except the hotel obliged you to pass via a service called "Likeathome" which asks for your credit card details and the small print refers to a commitment to €48.99 a month after trial period. If I have understood that there are indeed charges associated with simply screen-mirroring, then I feel this is inappropriate and excessive. If I have misunderstood, then the hotel management should explain, and I will happily edit the review accordingly.

There are many reasons to recommend this hotel. It's right next to the Kagran Metro station on the U1 line. The front desk employees couldn't have been friendlier or more helpful. The decor is modern and colorful. Thick curtains in the bedroom keep the room cool by blocking the sun. The room is compact but well designed, so it feels cozy. The bathroom has a walk-in shower with a stone floor, so there's less risk of slipping. The room has a refrigerator, kettle AND Nespresso coffee machine. Also there's a table and seating that are perfect for working. There's a big shopping mall across the street. The breakfast buffet was very good. (I especially liked the sauteed vegetables.)

The bed was too high. For shorter people, this makes it difficult to sit on the side of the bed. However, this was my only complaint.
