Hipotel Paris Gare du Nord Merryl

Excellent hotel for the money. Room with en suite facilities and Elevator. Crucially, it was quiet at night with the double glazed windows closed. Rooms cleaned every day. Staff very friendly and helpful. Full concierge service giving security. Ten minute walk from Gare du Nord and just across the road for metro station to central Paris. I could not fault this hotel.

Area behind the Gare du Nord is quite downmarket after dark, though we did not get hassled by anyone.

The staff was very nice, easy check-in, the room was great, perfect amount of space. We were gone for most of the day so if you just want a place to sleep and don't need to spend a lot of time in the hotel it's great! It is also very close to metro station La Chapelle and we went all over Paris from there. Also around 10 minutes to Gare du Nord, where you can travel to and from the airport (we went from CDG and it was very easy).

The hotel itself is perfect, although the streets around are a little intimidating because of the amount of shady people around, especially if you go to the shops, but it's very well lit and no one bothers you! The reception is also 24h and has monitoring so we were never scared in the hotel itself.

Clean, tidy room, adequate for my needs. Location great for proximity to metro and Gare du Nord and shopping for food stuffs. Lots of street sellers from the metro en route to hotel. They were polite and helpful to me as a visually impaired person but some solo travellers might feel very intimidated by the area. Bathroom newly kitted out since my last stay... great! Lift was out of action for repairs, so in my case 3 flights of stairs was interesting, however this is only a temporary problem. Staff were very helpful and welcoming.

Several things that fancier hotels often don't have: extremely adequate ceiling lighting; bed lamps at the right height to be switched on and off from the bed and at the right distance from the bed; soap provided rather than only gel; a shower door that closed properly; a decent-sized writing table. Also, the staff was extremely helpful, both when I arrived (late at night and very tired) and the next morning when I had to get up very early and have a taxi ordered.

The tiny excerpt from a Google map provided with the booking was completely adequate, so that I had to ask directions many times (not easy at nearly midnight and for a small stree that most people don't know) and spent nearly an hour for a walk from the Gare du Nord that should have taken at most 10 minutes.

The staff welcomes you very kindly and warmly. Incredibly helpful in getting you directions to major attractions in Paris. Although the hotel has its history in this part of town, the room is very clean and tidy. Breakfast waits just around the corner in a charming local cafe. The hotel is in a very accessible location. Parking North close by. Only a ten minute walk. The metro No. 2, 2 minutes steps from the hotel, takes you immediately to the Arc de Triomphe.

Good location, only a few minutes walk from Gare du Nord and just one minute from La Chappelle Metro Station. Secure entry- buzz to enter. Clean and comfortable room. Multi lingual (French, Spanish and English speaking) man on reception was very friendly and printed out an excursion booking confirmation for me on request.

There are no tea/coffee making facilities in room! No good, if like me you need caffeine in the morning to function. But, my biggest gripe is that I was charged €12.44 for City Tax upon arrival, which I had to pay before the key to my room was released. I didn’t realise until I got home that this was already included in my booking fee and had to apply for a refund. I was given a refund eventually, but I still shouldn’t have been charged in the first place.

I was at first doubtful about my stay given the past reviews but the experience was not bad at all. The property is located close to metro station. Room size (single) was better than many Paris city hotels. Staff is welcoming and gentle. No need to worry about the street vendors. They're just normal refugees/immigrants making a living through selling cigarettes and they won't eat you up! 😊

Fantastic staff, friendly and helpful, bi-lingual. Location is great for access to Gare du Nord, metro just next door, lots of shops and restaurants nearby.

The area (La Chapelle) is a bit rough around the edges, but most of Paris is these days. Still, felt safe and definitely lively. Great restaurants out front of Gare du Nord, and a twenty min walk from the best creperie (Octopus Crepe - check them out, soooo good!).

It's located a few minutes from Lachapelle metro station for getting around Paris, and Gare du Nord for entering and leaving the city. Friendly professional staff.

Elevator is small, but functional. Likewise, the room has limited in space, but very well-designed to make the most of the tight area, with a big bed.

The location to Gare du Nord railway station was good - easy walk. The cost of the stay was reasonable- good value for money. Easy check in and check out process

The door to the reception is locked and when we arrived in the evening there was nobody at reception. Another person was already waiting and it took some time for someone to open the door for us.
