Eccelso Hotel

The rooms were perfectly set up for us as a couple traveling with a toddler. The location was amazing with loads of food around us and not a far walk to things like the hop on hop off bus'. Was very easy to find and the staff were amazing with my toddler. Helping us when we needed it with pram, of is he was upset putting kids shows on or lollies. Would recommend this to anyone who just needs a good base to stay at and not needing about the fancy things like pools and spas.

The breakfast menu was a little limited, but this wasn't a big deal as we had like 100 restaurants and cafes to pick from just meters from the hotel. We also stayed valentines day night, the walls are a little thin and we could hear all the activities going on next door which was rather awkward and annoying when there were SHHHH signs everywhere, we did our best to keep noise and our toddler noise level to a minimum. But ultimately just don't book any hotel over valentines time.

The staff were exceptional. They were very friendly and so helpful especially Claudia! She was always willing to help us, providing us with all the information we needed. She made us feel so welcome as she always had a smile when we came back to the hotel and made our stay feel special! The rooms were lovely and clean, it was a nice and quiet location but still accessible to shops and trains.

We loved everything, it was a brilliant stay!

Excellent location (Vatican proximity, metro & bus stations nearby, still walking distance to old town districts), quiet street, a lot of restaurants in the walking distance, spacious room (superior), nice fitout, comfortable bed, comfortable regulation of room heating in winter, kettle to make tea, fridge, friendly staff

frankly speaking there is nothing to complain, perhaps some elements in the bathroom may need some refreshment soon

Location couldn't have been better; we were practically opposite the Vatican and near delicious restaurants and brunch spots. All other attractions were a mere 10 min Lime bike away.

The bathroom could be bigger and for those girls who like an 'at-home' blow-out, I'd recommend bringing your own hairdryer. The hairdryer was very basic - which isn't a criticism more of an observation.

Very cozy, stylish, quiet room, every detail is well thought-out, wonderful view of the street. Very clean, cleaning is provided every day. Silence policy. The atmosphere in the hotel and in the room is romantic and calm. Location is great, 5-10 minutes by foot from both Vatican City and Ottaviano metro station. There are a lot of good restaurants nearby, our favourite was Faruso.

There is no ventilation in bathroom. Not any drinking water (only for extra fee - €1,5 for a 0,5 litre bottle). Small disposable bags with shampoo/gel instead of mini vials. The bed is too soft, but it depends on taste. A bit annoying letters from the staff, especially when you’re said “good bye” the day before you leave.

Overall, our stay at the Eccelso Hotel was nice. We arrived in Rome late at night, so I contacted the property in advance to inform them about late check-in, they sent me detailed instructions and we got in without any problems just following the instructions. The location is excellent, it's just a stone's throw away from the Vatican City and other attractions. The whole neighborhood is very walkable, during our stay in Rome, we've never used any public transportation. Our room was very spacious, it overlooked what I imagine to be a typical Italian backyard, it was very cute.

From weaknesses I can point out two things: 1) weak WiFi signal, our room was located at the very end of the hotel, probably this was the cause of the problem; 2) Weak water stream in the shower, and the water was not hot enough.

A lovely little hotel with friendly, helpful and welcoming staff on the front desk. It was clean and had a comfy bed. The air con was definitely needed during our stay due to the heatwave, so we were grateful for this. Fairly good location - close to the Vatican, the metro, and a lovely restaurant round the corner (Osteria Faruso). Took the metro and did long walks in order to get around to the other monuments.

Our only frustration was being caught out at the end of our stay having to pay for coffees. Luckily we'd only had one each. There was a sign in our room saying that a coffee would be waiting for us in reception every morning from 8am (no mention of a need to pay), but they were actually €1.50 each for a shot of espresso.

Loved the location and the room itself. Everything was clean, quiet, and comfortable. The staff were exceptionally kind too. I asked about how to get to the airport and they told me to take a taxi instead of their own service, as the regulated taxi fare would be cheaper. Check in was easy even arriving later than reception hours. They really went out of the way to make the experience smooth and enjoyable. To boot, the price at Eccelso was very reasonable especially with its proximity to the Vatican.

A great stay in Rome! The location was ideal for a visit to the Vatican - easy walk to restaurants, market, and anything you need. Impeccably clean, comfy bed, great shower. Everyone was very kind and helpful and the other guests were quiet and respectful. It’s a small hotel with just a few rooms. The walls are thin so sound travels, but all the guests were quiet in the halls and in their rooms. While breakfast isn’t provided at the hotel, you can leave a slip with your order the night before and they will bring you a coffee, croissant and juice for 5€- it’s a nice touch for a leisurely morning. We had a really nice stay and would recommend it for a trip to Rome! Thanks for a great visit!

The hosts Francesca and Piera were very responsive and available at any time for help, explanation and support. The apartment was fully newly refurbished and very clean and nice, positioned just in front of the Vatican Museum entrance. Close to city center (walking distance), very nice neighborhood, many restaurants nearby as well as shops (supermarkets). The most important help we got from them, was when loss of electricity (power) happened in the neighborhood, which lasted more than a day, due to heavy and unusual rain in Rome. The hosts were working hard to manage with electricians but at the end of the day, relocated us to another place. We fully recommend this place and hosts.
