Hotel Villa San Lorenzo Maria

The hotel is well located in that we were able to walk to the coliseum in 30 minutes of very entertaining street scape. All major monuments in historic district are walkable. The Vatican is too far but a local Bus #3 a 5 minute walk from hotel will get you there. The main Rome train station is a 20 minute walk or tram 5 or 14 away. Very doable. The front desk are very knowledgeable in providing high quality guidance for getting around. There are many restaurants 3 minute walk from hotel. My wife and I are very experienced travellers and this place is a gem.

Leaving

The room was very nice and very clean! It was exactly like the Fotos were showing! The staff was amazing and very helpful. Also eager to help us in any question or problem we might have. They gave us a map during the check in and helped us understand about public transportation. We had cleaning service every day and that was a big plus for us! The man working at the restaurant in the hotel(sorry I don't remember the name) is very sweet nice and very polite! The inner yard with the small tables and chairs was really beautiful with flowers and very clean. During the check out they let us store our luggage there for free, cause we had a long time till our departure. Also the hotel is close to the tram station (5') and the bus station! Everything was really nice 😁

The location. Although the hotel itself is very nice, the area around is not the best. There was no special view from our room.

Extremely friendly staff. Upon arrival, they gave us 4 transport tickets, a map of Rome and an explanation of what to see and what to pay attention to. Only the surroundings of the hotel, i.e. the position where the hotel is located is so different in relation to which direction you go, and that is what I want to draw attention to. If you go to the RIGHT when leaving the hotel, the exit is on the part that is around the train station (in principle, it's OK, it's not very nice for the eyes, but we didn't have any inconvenience in 5 days). There is interesting graffiti, but you walk under the overpass, so you don't get the best impression of Rome. If you turn LEFT, a completely different experience of the environment where on the way to the bus line that reaches the center in 10 min. You come across on a small square with a free amateur theater in the evening. Beautiful! Also, as soon as you turn left, right next to HOTEL it is a supermarket with a large assortment of necessities. A wonderful picturesque hotel with the first atmosphere of Rome that completes your entire experience. The coffee in the hotel is phenomenal, the atmosphere in the garden ideal for starting the day.

1. If I can say that I didn't like it, it's that part on the right when you leave the hotel. It wasn't until day 3 that we turned left and Voala! 2. One mattress was quite dented and unpleasant to sleep on with a loud creaking sound at the slightest turn

The room is normal, the bathroom is large. Everything is clean, tidy and comfortable. There were two beds pushed together and a solid mattress, one of the best places to sleep. 5-8 minutes to bus stops. on foot, so excellent communication. We had a balcony with a nice view of both the yard and the street. Knowing that the environment is noisy, it was very quiet. Breakfast cold buffet (bread, meat, cheese, butter, cereal, coffee, tea, cakes and muffins). Overall 10//10

During my entire stay I had one unanswered question "Where are the handles of the wardrobes? Is the classic Italian furniture all like this?".

It is absolutely adorable! The garden in front of the hotel is marvelous and I wish we’d had more time to spend there. We also had a tiny little balcony in our room, which we really enjoyed. The rooms were spotless, the staff incredibly friendly and helpful, I’ve never received such lovely service. I highly recommend this place!

The location is a bit too far, although it might just be our preference. Definitely opt for buses instead of the tram 19 (even though it is the closest one), it tends to take too long and apparently it breaks down every once in a while and does not show up at all. Other than that, I have no complaints whatsoever!

This little gem of a hotel is in an amazing location, with the metro, bus and tram lines only a walk away. The staff couldn't do enough for us, helping us plan our trips and giving us recommendations for places to eat. We got upgraded so had a lovely terrace which would be lovely in the summer. Parts of San Lorenzo on arrival, don't look enticing, but as you walk around and find the cute restaurants and bars, you realise how buzzy and lovely it is.

Maybe just warm options for breakfast would be good but other than that, it was fine.

The room is pretty small and the shower is small too. But the place is charming, our room had a beautiful and relaxing outdoor area. The staff was friendly too. The area doesn't look very nice, there are lots of graffiti in the walls but, besides that, the neighborhood is safe, there are so many interesting bars and restaurants just a few minutes walk. Great opportunity to scape the tourist traps, and find real local food (great food!!), better prices, see young people around and visit nice bars!

The room and the bathroom are small. The streets are full of graffiti and gives you the false impression the place is not very safe.

Friendliness of the staff, ability to park. This hotel has plenty of character unlike many modern hotels. The breakfast is optional but at (2023) E5 excellent value for money and the staff are very attentive keeping the buffet well stocked.

This cant be improved but the neighbourhood looks run down with plenty of Graffiti, HOWEVER the streets are safe we opted to walk back from a Metro station every night. There are buses and Trams within a few minutes walk of the hotel. Even the local shopkeepers on the route are friendly ! Not the guy in the phone store (left out of the hotel) that is meant to sell Tram & Bus tickets !!

Lovely customer service. We arrived a bit too early and got to store our luggage. Additionally, the staff was very helpful to provide us with a map and lots of recommendations for the public transportation system, where to eat and where to go. They even got our room ready much earlier than expected. The room itself was always being kept clean.

The area is quiet, but I have to say it feels a little sketchy. Nothing too bad, but we didn't feel too comfortable walking around at night. It wasn't a big enough issue though, as the hotel itself felt very nice and safe.

The staff was really nice. We were very well received both in check-in and check-out. The breakfast waiter who served the coffee was very professional and helpful. Room keeping was very effective. Breakfast was reasonably priced. The hotel's vintage decoration is a very pleasant sight.

There could be more, more accessible power plugs (adding extensions to the existing ones and leaving them by the bed sides and desk would solve this ;). We could hear some noise from the next room.
