Everything

I usually stay here when in Auckland and the staff that I had dealt with in the past did not charge me bond due to my perfect ratings re Booking.com.. I only found out the next morning from one of the regulars at the counter the person I had dealt with that enforced the bond was new, no biggie, but I was a little annoyed at her emotionless demeanour on top of the bond.

The floor under the vanity looked like it could be a bit cleaner.

The air freshener was too strong. There seems to be a bit of a sewer odur in the bathroom like the ventilation does not work correctly. Although there is recycling bins in doors I suspect that no recycling is actually done.

Compact, clean, quiet, modern, well equipped room. Comfortable bed, good shower. Parking $15 or plentiful free parking on street, 4pm to 7am 20m from hotel or 3pm to 9am across the road 100m from hotel. Short walk to Westfield.

Conditioning shampoo so pack conditioner.

Great facilities , lovely tea and coffee, comfortable room and bed, bathroom was clean. Very good location and extra fee for carpark is a must.

The only problem with our stay/room was the shower head in the bathroom didn't have a holder so we had to hold it with our hands while showering. Not a huge problem, just a minor inconvenience.

The hotel was very good all round, staff friendly, clean and comfy rooms. Stayed here pre covid was good then and since reopening from being a isolation hotel it is just as good. Great location for my stay. Will return again when needing to stay in the area. Loved that fridges & microwaves are now available but not sure why toasters as there is no cuttery or plates!!

The elevator was out of action which made it hard to begin and end my journey carry bags as I was on the 3rd floor. Wasn't too worried about it as these things happen and exercise does everyone good, until a comment was said on the stairwell by another client that they had been here much longer than me. On that comment he as well as I would have thought it would be fixed by now. If the elevator was to be out of action that long then maybe a valet service would be nice!

The extra charge for parking in their property. Also annoying was people slamming there doors at all times of day and night.

I really loved staying here. No.9 Hotel is unusual in that it is a hotel building with a number of dorm rooms. Each of these rooms is a standard hotel room with an en-suite; however, instead of one queen-sized bed, these rooms have 2x2 bunk beds, with their own privacy curtains, lights, and charging stations. The en-suite was superb, and the room itself was lovely and big, with a huge window and even an armchair (without arms). I cannot remember ever experiencing such luxury in a dorm situation. The location of this hotel is also outstanding. It is just five minutes' walk away from Newmarket, with its massive Westfield shopping centre, heaps of different cafes and restaurants, the various delights of Chinatown, and Newmarket train station. There are many bus stops in the vicinity which can get you to/from Auckland Airport as well as the CBD and many nearby suburbs. Best of all, this place is really quiet at night, so a good sleep is more than a possibility. I loved the location because I walked to Auckland Museum without too much bother, and caught the bus to the airport opposite the front door. Superb!

The lovely big kitchen and dining area downstairs have seen better days. Although there is cooking equipment - electric hotplate, sink, microwave, toaster - there are essentially no pots, knives, plates, etc., so guests need to have their own OR visit one of the multitude of eating venues just down the road. Moreover, any serious rain inundates the bottom floor, so the kitchen gets soaked every time. This is a bit of a shame for such a beautiful space. I had no trouble cooking here because I had all necessary equipment, but others may be forced to cook only microwaveable meals or toast.

Great location for those who want to be just out of the fast Paced city without being too far out. Uber was super cheap to be able to get into town. Is nice to be able to have parking onsite as well compared to most places in auckland with on street parking or very over priced council parking. The bathroom was fantastic for a hostel type room. House keeping was excellent. We had 4 of us and had a few drinks so being able to get rid of food and drink rubbish each day was excellent. The beds as far as hostel style rooms go have to be some of the most comfortable I've slept in this type of room. Also having lights, USB ports and power sites in each bed space is great as well. Saves any fights over single points like most rooms have.

No 9 Hotel exceeded my expectations, as I had some concerns based on a couple of negative reviews. However, those reviews proved misleading. The rooms were clean and well presented, and the location suited me for the purpose of my visit.

Unfortunately my room overlooked the car park and area where the waste bins are stored. I was woken up in the pre-dawn hours by a visit from the "Green Gorilla" who spent some time emptying the 5 waste bins into their truck (Green Gorilla being the company who own the bins). This disturbed my sleep and no doubt that of other guests. While out of the hotel's control, this did provide a negative for my stay.

We had to attend a medical appointment early in the morning and didn't want to contend with Auckland traffic so we booked an overnight stay. The location suited our purposes well. The room was excellent, beds very comfortable and the room was quiet which gave us a great night's sleep.

I realized the day before that we had to book a car park space. Fortunately we could get one. Could be a bigger heading on booking form as it would have been a serious problem if all carparks were taken.
