I stayed for two nights using it as a base to see customers in the surrounding counties. I was greeted and shown to my room including how to use the free coffee machine available to guests. Had the twin room and it was nice and bright with an en suite that had a large shower cubicle. The Pub had a great selection of ales which I enjoyed sitting in the lovely pub garden at the back of the building. I did not eat here but the restaurant was busy every night. I will definitely be staying here again when next working the area and thank you to all the staff and management who had exceptional customer service skills.

Excellent room superb for 2 visitors (and a baby cot), super friendly and helpfull staff, great facilities around the room (free coffee & tea), good location to visit Newbury or Hungerford and National Trust locations, good parking availability and great dinner option for any night before rolling to bed.

Breakfast time is set to 9am. Staff could explain well why which I respect and breakfast isn't included in the room so totally extra, but it would be nice to have some option for travellers leaving early morning, maybe a breakfast package made the day before?

Due to traffic we were going to arrive later than planned. They said they would hold the kitchen for us as it closed at 6pm on a Sunday. We arrived at 5.30 and said we would order and check in later. The food we has was superb. Asparagus with grilled veg on a bed of green leaves. The dressing was perfect. I had mushroom linguine very tasty my sister had venison chilli with brown rice. She didn't eat the fresh chilli's on the top. Nice bottle of white coffee and a brandy to end. Travelling with my sister to attend Newbury Antique Fair great start to our outing!

The location was excellent- just off the M4! Double bed was unbelievably comfortable, so had a really good night’s sleep. It felt like home in that the pub staff are very welcoming to dogs. However, please be aware that breakfast was extra and okay, but unfortunately cappuccino was totally undrinkable. We politely gave feedback, but refund not offered. Can really recommend a nearby coffee shop near Hungerford in East Garston called Priscilla’s Kitchen - excellent coffee and cake!

As above - cappuccino undrinkable.

The location was lovely, the room was very clean fairly big and great facilities. The restaurant was nice for drinks and great that they had an outside market. The bed was very comfortable, and even though I left the window open it was still very quiet which was nice. The little honesty fridge was a great idea as well incase you fancied a drink when the bar was closed or one in your room.

The coffee was great in the morning but the only downside was as I made myself another coffee(an hour and a half before checkout time) but the milk had been taken out of the fridge so I couldn't have a white coffe so for the first time i tried a black coffee which isn't for my taste and I couldn't find anyone to ask for some milk so a little disappointing

On checking in Josh was very helpful, the room was small but comfortable with bottled water and a coffee machine in the hallway. We had dinner in the evening and once again Josh was very helpful with his recommendations for wine, ale and food. The food was excellent and the wait wasn't too long. Good dog friendly place with lots of local walks.

Could do with more staff as Josh was the only front of house, going a great job.

Nice country pub with just five rooms (I think!) The staff were friendly and the room was nicely done in a modern style with quality furnishings. A capsule coffee machine is provided free in the lobby along with fresh milk in a mini fridge.

Unfortunately, the pillows were like rocks. Really struggled to get comfortable! Just a simple change would really make a big difference here. Rooms are not big but it is a thatched inn so that is to be expected. Pub was closed Monday when we arrived which although not a problem for us, may have been if guests intended to dine in.

.food was very good, staff friendly and helpful.

Breakfast was very good but rather mean to charge for individual breakfast items.e.g. Toast was extra with scrambled eggs, coffee was charged by the cup. Coffee station situated by outside door for guests just means that you can’t have a cup of coffee in bed, one of the treats of staying away. Would be much nicer to have drink making facilities in each room. Rooms very cold.

The room was extremely comfortable. We've stayed here before and the staff are lovely. The food is excellent.

We could have done with some teaspoons not just wooden stirrers. Because there is a coffee machine these are missed out but my husband always likes to take his own coffee and sugar. Not a big complaint but it's the only one I have and you did ask. 🤣
