Room was comfortable, great bed, big and comfortable. Shower lovely with some really great shower 'plant food' products and shampoos. Very hot outside so appreciated the cool air blower, much more effective than some places I have stayed. It is set in a beautiful part, within a big park, and well kept lawns, lovely and cool, the grounds are special. Interesting old building keeping original features attached to the standard modern part. Staff were really lovely, Husband had flu, restaurant made him the best honey tea, cleaner went out of way to put right a bit of a problem. I really enjoyed my stay here. Super comfortable.

Nothing really - Breakfast finishes at 10, but 9.40 pastries gone, Americano on machine empty etc. But what was there was very good. Best sausages in a long time. Hotel had booked 'day guests' whose check out was 6.pm. We arrived 5.58 and they weren't out so we had to wait till they vacated before cleaner could get in and clean room. By 6.50 husband too ill to hang around the bar, so we went up whether clean done or not so he could lie down. Wasn't quite ready but staff were fantastic, particularly the cleaner , and they did give us a drinks voucher to wait, but maybe the 'schedule' needs a rethink as check in time for night guests is from 2pm onwards. And if day guests check out is 6pm, well its an accident waiting to happen really.

Booked room only, given breakfast option on arrival, personally thought it a little expensive. Enquired about dinner, given a time slot which was a in my mind late because they were supposedly booked up. So ate out but arrived back prior to the time given,. to have a drink at the bar and the restaurant was no were near full. possibly staffing problems who knows.

There was nothing in particular to dislike. On the other hand nothing special to make me want to stay again, The price paid compared to others locally was value for money. Prices for food and drink as stated before i thought to be expensive.

We stayed in the king room for one night, It was clean, spacious, and the bed was comfy. All the staff we encountered were friendly. We had dinner in the restaurant 3 courses for £28 it was all very tasty. There was plenty to choose from at breakfast too. We will be staying again next year

There's only a couple things I wish we were told, not having stayed in a holiday Inn before like you have to put your key card on the slot for the electric to work or for some reason the TV has to tell you it can't connect to the internet before you can use the remote. But that didn't hinder our stay it was still great

Location is superb, set in the beautiful grounds of the Crichton. Excellent position close to the the town. Excellent breakfast, and plenty choice.

Rooms are a bit tired now, furniture dated and worn, especially the settee in the room. Ours appeared to be the only room without voiles on the windows to afford some privacy when the curtains were open. The lounge bar area was very dull and boring. Lacked any quality and ambience.

Clean, friendly helpful staff, breakfast really good. Rooms clean and comfortable.

Poor WiFi, need good band width for work. Limited dinner menu. TV channel selection poor. Expensive for what you get. I suppose the hospitality sector uses every means possible to maintain business levels. It doesn’t help other local hotels are fully booked up with .Gov buy up with migrant housing. This alone forces up costs. Easy money for the hotel owners to exploit their normal trade customers.

Staff very friendly and helpful... Location was excellent.100 acres of well kept gardens to explore especially the Rock garden. Our King room was very spacious and house keeping was immaculate.. The waitresses worked extremely hard during busy times

Felt the prices overall in the restaurant were quite high..The cost of a glass of wine was well over the top. Staff shortages were apparent during busy times when the management must have known that a coach trip or a large group of golfers had booked in,but no extra staff to cope.

I booked through Booking.com two hours before I arrived in Dumfries and received the email confirmation but when I arrived (after midnight) the receptionist regretted that there was no room at the Inn. She kindly tried to find me somewhere else in Dumfries but there was nothing. She gave me a room that had been reserved by the Scottish Government but that probably wasn't going to be used. Big relief.

Nothing. The hotel is friendly, clean and comfortable. The issue was with booking.com, not with the hotel.

Good location. Good bathroom with large shower. Lovely view over the cathedral. Breakfast was great and breakfast staff very attentive. Blonde reception girl was super friendly- interacted with Our kids which was lovely. Super location from town and in lovey surroundings.

Disappointment of no chef and so no dinner available on night one. Went to local pub. Night 2 used the restaurant- food good, however speed of service was terrible. Staff apologies and said it was due to a bus tour group also being in. Wasn’t impressed with the wait at all I’m afraid. Understand under pressure but not great experience at all. We would have had pudding but when dining with 2 young children we couldn’t wait. Food high standard when it came. General freshen up of room paint wouldn't go a miss. Scuffed in parts, but understand this is general wear and tear.

The staff were so pleasant and extremely helpful. The location was on the University Campus which was beautiful, lots of green areas and beautiful old biuildings. The road to the Solway Coast towards Annan was just off the Campus. The buses into town ran every 30 minutes which saved us looking for parking. Very easy access to A75 back to Carlisle or The Solway Coast Westwards.

As always in these hotels the doors, being fire retardent, are so heavy and are constantly banging when patrons enter or leave their rooms. Maybe the Hotel is ready for an upgrade as the bathroom, although perfectly adequate is awaiting a fresh new look.?
