Great room in a lovely hotel with friendly staff and free parking, couldn't ask for more. The room was really spacious, with two comfy chairs and seperate desk and work area, plus the bed was really comfortable. The breakfast was good as well, but could have done with a choice of eggs rather than simply scrambled. However, plenty of choice of hot food, cereals, fruit, yoghurt and pastries. Would definitely come back if working in the area again.

No air conditioning but a fan was available in the room. The iron provided was not a steam iron, which would have been far better. A minor point, the kettle was on a tray but the cord didn't reach the nearest plug socket so had to place it on the desk.

The rooms were spacious and well appointed. The staff were friendly. There was free parking on site. And the hotel was in the right place for our purposes (after picking up our daughter from Luton Airport and prior to travelling on to Cambridge the next day.)

We were lucky enough to have a room that could be reached from the car park, because access to the rooms from within the hotel was a bit like going round a labyrinth! Continental breakfast was a bit disappointing and we don't go in for full English breakfast. The coffee was cold. We didn't realise the restaurant would be so noisy for our evening meal, as there was a "pay-day" singing event there, and we couldn't hear ourselves speaking.

The staff were friendly and nothing was too much trouble if asked a question or to help. The comfortable clean beds, quiet and restful at all times of day. Some of original returns and the art deco style. Also amazingly the tap water for making tea was filtered in the rooms.

A little bit dusty in the room and I did see a mouse in the presence of a member of staff. It's not really an issue for me. Guests can be messy which I believe the cause but some people might find it off putting. There could be more information on the history of the various buildings over the centuries available I had to ask a member of staff, the night porter of 17 years who was very passionate about it. View from window was a flat roof and another building.

My room 108 was fantastic. Slightly on the small side for two adults. However so clean and the bed was so comfortable. Décor in the bathroom was stunning along with the good quality hand and shower products.

Didn't have air con and with the window not opening very far made the room extremely hot while getting ready to go out for the evening with two people. More than one hand towel should be added into the bathroom. However I understand its an old property. It shall not stop me for staying there again.

Great hotel in an excellent location. They have a large car park but still give guests guidance of other car parking options in case it’s full. We stayed over the Christmas period and had no problem parking in their car park. The room was quite a long walk inside the hotel from the entrance. We didn’t mind that as a bit of exercise over Christmas is a bonus. But if you can’t walk easily, you might want to ask for a room nearer the entrance. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. The room large, quiet and well equipped.

Unfortunately, due to the location of our room (the first one at the top of the stairs), meant late-night revelers were heard throughout the night coming down the corridor and kept waking us and our dog (which led him to bark a bit). A room slightly further down the hall may have been better for us. It's a shame as the bed was so comfy, I was ready for a good night's sleep! I'd also recommend some double glazing if possible as our room backed onto the main street where partyers were heard outside.

We have stayed at the Cromwell on numerous occasions now and always have a pleasant time there. We choose it because it is near to our favourite pub ( the Red Lion) and has never let us down. Staff are always helpful and friendly and I book a deluxe room and can always rely on it to be a nice, comfortable one with nice decor and with everything in it you can need. We stay for breakfast which is of a good standard, self service type and with an excellent and various choice of food.

All good. Nothing to dislike

Room was very spacious and well set out. Comfortable bed, nice big television and very big bathroom. Two easy chairs were a bonus as you didn't have to sit on the bed when in room like in some previous stays at other hotels. Plug in fan provided as it was very hot.

The number of stairs to get to room. Corridors were like a rabbit warren. If you have mobility issues a ground floor room is a must in my opinion. Air conditioning would have been welcome as the fan was very loud if left on overnight. We booked a "superior" room but it had no fridge to store and cool any drinks and we found that a bit of a negative in truth. Bar prices very expensive but I am aware it comes with the location.

Breakfast was lovely, good choice and area clean and enough staff were on duty

Nothing major but on Saturday evening I went to the bar area to attempt to eat, asked for a menu, went and got a drink sat and waited for 20 mins but No one came and asked if I had decided to eat. I left, went to Tescos and bought a salad and ate in my room! Saved me money but I would have spent £20 In the bar On Sunday, I went to breakfast, I was seated, but nothing was explained to me as to how breakfasts were arranged. Other staff told other customers so I cottendd in! A few of your staff need a bit more training in customer service!!! On check out, the staff member was busy so sa8d she would email reciept, but it hasn't arrived yet! Did not mean I d8dnt enjoy my stay, I will definitely use you again!

Really nice room - we had paid for upgrades but most of the team were in standard rooms and said these were excellent too. The excutive rooms were a really good size - decor is traditional but really looks right. Breakfast was excellent and the staff were super-friendly and helpful. We will look to book again this time next year for he same event in Knebworth.

Nothing really - quieter end of town but probably a good thing !
