The room was very clean .Had adequate tea and coffee and sugar to make hot drinks. And if you ran out, just had tonpop down to breakfast room where there was plenty. The bed was comfortable. We had breakfast, which was all cooked very nicely and there was no complaints at all.All the staff were more than accomadating and friendly. The overall stay was excellent. We will be coming back. This hotel was a little gem find.I much prefer staying here to some of the other top e d hotels we have stayed at.There was evening meals if you were hungry. Entertainment put on.Bar staff were lovely.

Nothing.

We came across this hotel as we were double booked at our initial accommodation! I was stunned by the excellent price, so I proceeded to book with just minutes to check in. Wasn't really expecting much as I was just grateful to find somewhere not too far away from the first accommodation and seeing the smile back on my 11-year-old daughters face! Upon arrival, we were impressed with the gorgeous building and, more importantly, the fantastic receptionist, Nicky 🤩😍 I loved her energy and enthusiasm ♥️ My daughter Bree instantly warmed to her. If you'd seen how upset my Bree had been at the first accommodation, you would totally understand this. All the staff were friendly and lovely, but Nicky just has that vibe and personality that makes you remember a holiday. My daughter talked nonstop about Nicky. She was upset when Nicky had a day off and made sure she said farewell to her on our last night. We feel so sad to be back home and are now looking at dates to come back before the year is over. We always travel to Lyme Regis or Dawlish, but thanks to Nicky and this gorgeous hotel, we now have added Babbacombe, Torquay, to the list. On the first morning of our stay, Nicky gave us fabulous advice on travelling into Torquay Harbour and how it's more cost-effective to travel by bus rather than pay for all-day parking. Due to the current cost of living crisis, I found it fantastic that she took time to tell us this

There isn't one single thing that we didn't like

Quiet and peaceful place to rest.Very affordable for retired budget conscious folks.Food is served every morning and evening for a fee in a buffet style.Pretty much all you can eat.One can always go to a nearby Tesco the day before for food hunting.

There was nothing negative to say for low budget and older building. One can always get another room just for the asking. A few chairs would have been helpful

Was a bit dubious after seeing some of the reviews wasn't sure what to expect but we were pleasantly surprised. Nice room, clean with TV,iron and ironing board,a decent hairdryer, tea and coffee making facilities, shower gel and soap. Didn't sample the breakfast or evening meal but there was a singer in the bar on Saturday who was quite good and the bar prices weren't too much. A jolly receptionist greeted us when we arrived and departed . Good central location. No parking in the hotel but plenty on the road outside.

The bath towel could have been bigger - not everyone is a size 8-10!

after reading reviews after making the booking i was skeptical in regards to what we were going to be faced with. When we arrived we managed to park fine although this is on roadside was no issue. Checked in and the reception was helpful/friendly. Rooms are a little dated but clean and tidy couldn't moan if your booking a budget hotel don't expect glam! We had 3 rooms and all were clean, tidy spacious. Only stayed one night was a last min getaway because the weather was nice for the weekend! One of us left an item in the rooms and realised after checkout however once back we contacted the hotel and the super helpful receptionist Nicola W found this item and went above and beyond organising for this to be sent back to us via mail. overall excellent experience given! no complaints here cheap and cheerful getaway!

nothing i think for what you pay you get good value for money

Checking in was easy and the lady on reception was super friendly with big smiles made us feel really welcome, it has everything you need for a weekend break away including entertainment for a fantastic price in a great location with easy access to the local beach and restaurants and transport to torquay. Stayed twice now and will definitely be back many more times!

Nothing awful but it is dated so don't expect the ritz and lacks in love and attention plaster and deco update needed in places but nothing that can't be fixed in time. The staff, value for money and location make up for it! Look past the aesthetics and you'll have a wonderful holiday!

I've stayed before and the rooms are 'basic' but comfortable (what else would you expect for the price? They're great value!). The staff are very welcoming, friendly and helpful. I love the big, open concierge and enjoyed the variety of evening entertainment. The location is great for Oddicombe Beach and Babbacombe Beach - two small, pretty beaches (as long as you're OK with the steep slopes down to the beaches ... but you can drive to them and park there; I chose to walk). The little parade of shops in St. Marychurch is just up the road, and there's a lovely variety of small shops as well as a small Co-Op and small Sainsbury. There are several pubs nearby but the Trecarn has its own bar within the concierge anyway.

Nothing, really: if I were to 'nitpick' the free Wi-Fi (in the public areas only, unless you pay for premium Wifi in your room) was a bit hit & miss. While I was there it was very windy and there was heavy rain, so this could have had an impact on this.

It's perfect for my needs! I live only about half-an-hour's drive away but I've come here twice now (last time was in January) to look for shells on the local beaches for my craft business, and to do 'paperwork' without the distractions of being at home! The rooms (both times) are basic but clean & comfortable and it's great to have a TV. The staff are all super-friendly and helpful, and the nightly entertainment is a 'bonus': bingo, quizzes, talented singers /comedians and a lovely relaxed atmosphere in the downstairs lounge / bar area. I can't comment on the food as I've stayed on a room-only basis. I'm very lucky to have this little "gem" almost on my doorstep!

Staff were friendly and happy and explained facilities available to us and extremly helpful when asked where to go for carvery or whats available . Reception staff went above and beyond to make sure felt very welcome also even the housekeeping staff spoke to you as they passed . Rooms was very clean . Bathroom good size . Evening entertainment was good . Family friendly .

Drinks at bar felt were bit pricey. Only thing couldn't comment on was restaurant/food at the hotel as didn't eat there .but will do next time .
