The Montana

Great location for our trip. Easy efficient booking in, clean tidy comfortable room. Breakfast was good quality hot... Would stay again as positives way out weigh the negatives for us

Contactless booking in and out not our preference. Lack of personal touch, although we did see William at breakfast which is pre ordered night before for the cooked option. These are just our preferences and should not stop anyone from booking this pleasant B&B

Quite central.

It was a shame that they didn’t offer an evening meal/ snack also it would have been nice to have a room where you could come back from a day out and relax, rather than having to go up to your room.

The breakfast was fantastic. Rooms were very clean, you can tell that the whole place was very well looked after. The fan in room was very quiet. Tea, coffee provided. Noticed there was an ironing board and iron for anyone to use. The host William was very nice and messaged us information about key etc. Great location as it was a short walk to the seafront.

There was no parking and trying to get a space down the street was quite hard as it seemed busy all the time. A bit of road noise as we were on the front and on the top floor. Walls are a bit thin, the couple in the room next to us were a bit loud and the banging of the headboard 😂 woke us up 🤦🏼‍♀️ they were a little loud and could hear everything!

I stayed at The Montana from Friday 19th to Sunday 21st May 2023. I was attending The royal British Legion Annual Conference that was being held at The Riviera Centre. The location of The Montana was perfect. it was approximately 5 minutes walk to and from the Conference Centre. The security for the place was good, key that had to be retrieved from the key box, using a code number. The key was then use for opening the front door and my bedroom door. My room was clean and comfortable , the bathroom had everything that I needed and the walk in shower was excellent. The system for ordering breakfast on both mornings was very efficient. I dhose what I wanted from the list provided and it was freshly cooked as per my order. The food was very tasty and I have no complaints whatsoever. In summary I was completely happy with my choice of The Montana.William was excellent in his preparation of the breakfast and he was very helpful in advancing breakfast times due to the timings in the Conference daily programme.. Well Done- The Montana is on my radar for the future.

The hosts were extremely welcoming and full of local knowledge, both myself and Sophie were really grateful for the tips of local places and restaurants to visit. The rooms were exceptionally clean, the breakfast was fantastic every morning, the service & welcoming response is better than anything you will ever receive at a chain hotel. Our room was on the top floor and had everything we needed. The hosts even very kindly offered to help me out & pointed me in the right direction when I realised I had forgotten my laptop charger.

It is hard to offer any real 'criticisms' of our time staying at The Montana as we had a really great time, the facilities were exactly what we needed and we'd definitely come again. If we were being extremely picky it might have been nice to have a small desk in the room instead of a large double wardrobe, it is unlikely we would fill a double wardrobe & we stayed for 4 days, so a small desk or even tabletop space would've been really useful. The towel rail in the bathroom was also slightly loose so we were a bit hesitant to load it up with wet towels, asides from these two very minor points we cannot fault our stay here at all.

We had excellent breakfasts, cooked to order. The rooms were lovely given the age of the building the owners made best use of the space available. I was supplied with all the usual facilities I would expect plus a light sleeper kit. The ability to collect our room keys from a key safe made arrival easy. My mother has limited mobility and access, once up the step from the main footpath, was easy for her.

Parking is always an issue for smaller guest houses, however I was able to get a parking space in the road adjacent with no problem. This might not be the same in the peak season.

My wife and I have just spent 2 nights at the Montana in Torquay. What an excellent decision we made when selecting this hotel. It is modern, exceptionally clean and very comfortable. Hannah and William are the perfect hosts and breakfast is a treat. The menu has so much to choose from and you will not be disappointed. The location is ideal too and very close to the seafront and town centre. Prior to selecting the Montana, I reviewed many other guesthouses and hotels in Torquay, however I kept coming back to this one. No need to check anywhere else, just book at the Montana. We will most definitely return should we find ourselves in Torquay again in the future.

Absolutely nothing. Everything was perfect.

The room looked great and there was plenty of space. It was very clean and the bed was very comfortable. The walk to the beach was less than 10 minutes and we had plenty of restaurants and entertainment near by. We were able to leave the car parked and walk to most of our trips out. The breakfast was very nice on all 3 mornings and we had something different each day, with plenty of variety. The cooked food was ready quickly upon our arrival to our table and there were bits like toast and cereal to keep you going until it arrived. There was a lovely causal, family feel to the place as Hannah was great to talk to and the little ones joined in with helping her out. Overall it was just very pleasant and not much to fault.

It's on a busy street with lots of other B&Bs and places to drink so it was quite loud in the evenings. We had our window open as it was warm when we stayed and although there is a ceiling fan, it's not enough to keep the room cool at night. The noise didn't ruin our stay and we weren't massively bothered by it, but it did wake me up a couple of times so I imagine it would be a problem for some people. We happened to go on a football final weekend so it may not always be that busy in the evenings.

A clean and modern hotel, ideally located. The room was more than adequate for a couple with a lovely en suite bathroom including a shower. The bed was very comfy and there was next to no noise/disturbance. The organisation of breakfast was easy to follow & the there are great options for everyone. The quality of the food was very high, and it was served on time. The honesty bar is a great feature and gave us a relaxing space to spend time at the end of the day. The lovely garden area at the the front was a perfect space to relax too. We loved the self check in, it was clearly communicated to us prior to arrival, along with great information about where to find free on street parking close to the hotel. Hannah & William are running a great hotel which we would be delighted to visit again, and recomend to anyone visiting Torquay

NOTHING! It was great.

Breakfast was freshly cooked and it was delicious,you could have a choice for cooked breakfast or cereals,sandwiches bacon sausage etc,nothing was to much trouble.Room was a little small as was the shower,but we knew that when we booked.only problem was,There was no parking and you had to find your own space,We ended up paying another hotel to let us park.Everything was spotless the bed was the most comfortable I’ve slept on.The owners were lovely,I would recommend staying here.

Some arrangement for parking,There was no space at this hotel so maybe they could arrange with another hotel to borrow some of their spaces if they weren’t being used and maybe pay at a discount.That is the only complaint I have,Otherwise overall it was like a 5 star hotel and I wouldn’t hesitate to book again.
