The breakfasts were excellent, selection was offered. The peaceful location in beautiful surroundings Helpful directions from the owner particularly helpful if no SatNav in vehicle. The beds were very comfortable. The Hosts welcoming and helpful. The Moors on the doorstep. Places of interest not far away.

We found nothing to dislike at this house or location. the owners were friendly and welcoming. In my opinion the accommodation is up to a good class Hotel. Plus all the extras one does not receive at a Hotel.

The location is stunning as you should expect after travelling about 20 minutes off the main road, with wide views over the moors. The most appealing thing of our stay was that we were treated as if we were just friends of the family rather than paying guests. We had the run of the house when our hosts were elsewhere. Robin Hanbury-Tenison has been an explorer and author of remote parts of the world all his adult life while Louella is a fund of local Cornish knowledge. She also cooks the best scrambled eggs we have ever come across in all the B&Bs we have stayed.

One has to travel quite a distance for dinner and lunch and there are no pubs in the immediate vicinity as this is a Methodist area.

Robin and Louella are such wonderful people and amazing hosts. Very accommodating and easy going, also super helpful with bookings for food and sights. Breakfast was home cooked and really delicious. Nice airy room and a big, comfortable bed to tug into at night. It was just such a relaxing and welcoming atmosphere. There was always time for tea and a chat...It was just a perfect place to spend a romantic getaway.

I could not recommend this place enough! The house is very spacious and it is beautifully decorated with a lot of personal touches! Our room had a big double bed, which was very comfy. Louella (the host) is lovely and makes the best English breakfast! She gave us many tips on where to go and what to do, as well as directions. (Beware that the farm is accessible only by car). They have two cute dogs, which are so playful and like a lot of attention and cuddles! Overall, great experience, and if I find myself back in Cornwall, I would make sure I stay only at the Old Deer House.

Outstanding location, incredible views. Tentative & friendly owners / hosts. We used this location as our base, with all local towns / villages such as Fowen, Padstow, Looe, Newquay being quite close by (15-30mins drive in most cases) Local pubs were friendly and not too busy, though pre-booking a table is advised

Didn't realise until we practically arrived that dogs are not actually allowed into the house, or your actual room. We selected this property / location purely based on it being described as a pet friendly place to stay by Booking.com. Our dog was provided with a place to sleep with the owners dogs in the boiler house or in our car if we preferred. This caused my wife some anxiety as not expected and thankfully the issue was resolved with the owners (Thank you Louella)

We were made to feel like visiting members of the family from the minute we arrived. The rooms were comfortable and inviting and we had use of living room with TV. We found out that the house is environmentally friendly. Breakfast included mushrooms picked the night before from the garden. We were encouraged to mix with the other guests and had a very relaxed and friendly stay.

An excellent selection of items to eat. This included fresh fruit salad prepared daily by our host. Our Host offered a choice of hot items for breakfast which she cooked freshly for us including fresh eggs from their own free range chickens. The breakfast was served in a comfortable and pretty conservatory overlooking the rolling hills of the Cornish country side. Very peaceful and tranquil. We were surrounded by a lifetime of mementos which mapped the extraordinary lives our inspirational hosts have lead.

There was nothing we disliked thank you.

Fantastic setting and location, short drive to the beach/costal spots. Accommodation and breakfast was excellent. Our Labrador came with us and stayed in the boot room with Robin and Louella's dogs (two very friendly Westies) which worked perfect for us. Location and setting was stunning! Would defiantly consider re-booking and already have recommend to friends and family.

not a lot!

The location and views are stunning and it was a great base from which to explore the area. Delicious breakfast, drinks in the evenings on the terrace, great conversations and helpful advice about places to visit. Louella and Robin’s hospitality is second to none. They made us feel so welcome that when we left we felt like we were saying goodbye to friends. We cannot recommend this place highly enough and hope to visit again sometime.

Everything was perfect!
