Westberry Hotel

I received a very warm welcome. Breakfast good - you order the night before and there were several options for cooked breakfast. It was well cooked and more than adequate in size. Single room is a good size. Bathroom is very smart with a brilliant shower. I asked for fruit teabags and they were provided as promised. The Chinese restaurant serves some wonderful vegan dinners.

Disappointed there was no fruit. available at breakfast. A larger towel would be good. Room was cold but there is an electric heater to use. I was worried that as my room was just at the top of stairs from the lobby that it would be noisy. Because I had ben up since 06:00am I went straight to my room after dinner. As I feared there was quite a lot of noise from customers who had used the Hoi-An Chinese restaurant in the hotel between 21:00 and 21:30.

The location of this hotel was excellent, being very central to the town's high street and tourist attractions. The room and bathroom were very clean. The kettle and tea in the room were very welcome on arrival. The Hoi An Restaurant attached to the hotel was excellent. We had a lovely evening meal without the hassle of having to get out in the rain and find an alternative option. We very much enjoyed all our three courses! The faux cha siu was excellent and I hope to return to try the other vegan options. Great Chef. It was awesome to discover that there is a restaurant out of London offering this :). The service by the Barman and Waitress that evening was 100% fantastic :). Our breakfast was very good too with a full English. We met the two Owners and they were very friendly and nice. Thanks to you all!

Nothing really. Although the room was a bit dated, it was clean and functional. The price was a bit expensive compared to our previous accommodation around Cornwall and Devon. However, we do appreciate that this hotel is in the centre of town.

Near to bodmin jail where we were going and had a restaurant in the hotel. Most staff were really helpful and friendly

It was cold and the room heater hasn’t been put on before our arrival so had to get ready in a cold room, food was taken to the wrong room which was ok but we were blamed even though we’d 100% told them the right room number. Lady who blamed us was also rude to another member of staff in front of us.. felt she needed to work on her customer service and how to talk to other colleagues. She was nice just a bit unprofessional.

The hotel is situated in a good spot for access to the town, literally across the road. Staff were helpful and polite. Breakfast was okay, plenty of choice.

The room was limited - I was disappointed that there was no wardrobe or other storage for clothes, I was staying for two nights for work, so needed to hang shirts over the radiator in the shower room. The room had a fold down desk, but no space for a chair, which made it difficult to work. Parking was limited, the front spaces are reserved for vans - and there were no spaces in the rear carpark.

Breakfast good - not too much and well cooked/presented. Toast was very good. Dinner with a friend was excellent. She is a vegan and was very impressed with the variety of vegan meals offered. All staff exceptionally friendly and helpful, especially the barman Anthony. My bathroom was very nice and had obviously been upgraded recently. The ambience of the bar and restaurant very pleasant.

The bedroom could do with a fresh look and was in an annexe, the outer door of which not very welcoming and guests didn't close it properly, posing a security risk. There were also 2 members of staff outside the kitchen, having a smoking break when I went to bed which was rather off-putting. Would have preferred to be in the hotel proper which appeared cosy. There was a broken chair in the room which you could still sit on but didn't look very good, though room was clean and tidy. The water in the shower was rather variable in temperature.

Friendly staff, close to centre of town, lovely on site restaurant, comfortable beds, soft towels, great shower complimentary toiletries. Enjoyable stay. Worth the money, would stay here again if in Bodmin.

Not much choice for continental breakfast, cooked english breakfast good, but sausage could be better quality and although I don't eat black pudding, a full slice would be better than a half slice for those who do.. Would prefer tea to be in pots brought to the table rather than help yourself. This is just my personal choice though.

The transformation since my last visit in 2001 was phenomenal. The hotel really has moved into the 21st century. Lee, the owner, has not skimped on the many improvements obvious on arrival. Rooms superb, overall ambience excellent, staff happy and smiling all the time and exceedingly helpful. Obviously have a happy working environment. Restaurant menu to suit all tastes and excellent quality for a reasonable price. Congratulations Lee. I would have no hesitation in returning.

Though acceptable the choice of Tetley’s bitter in preference to the good choice of Cornish beers was a disappointment. However, barrel turnover would probably be insufficient to maintain cask beers which have a shorter shelf life.

The staff who lovely and helpful and the restaurant meals in the evening most of all. The hotel itself is very clean rooms are good .. the position is in the town centre (note the traffic is very busy but you don't really notice it much in the rooms. Bodmin has a lovely church the jail and a nearby national trust property. Its very convenient for traveling around the area

The location of the hotel was excellent as it enabled us to walk to visit family living in Bodmin for a family event. The hotel of mum and dad was already fully booked! We had dinner in the hotel restaurant on the night of our arrival which we all thoroughly enjoyed. The cocktails went down a treat. The staff were a delight and very friendly and helpful. Cooked breakfasts are not a buffet style event as you get in other hotels but need to be pre-ordered the night before. The poached eggs were cooked very nicely.

Our rooms were in a block that was separate from the main hotel, and we did find the lights from the hotel to be quite intrusive.

Welcoming. All staff friendly. Exceptionally clean, everywhere. Restaurant food excellent. (Thai curry, and duck with cherry sauce). Lovely decor & comfortable seating. Quiet bedroom. Parking. The cooked breakfast was good quality, fresh and prompt. Well worth the cost. Superb shower. Spacious ensuite. Staff very accommodating, letting us hang around in the lounge after checkout to wait fir our car.

Maybe a cold meat, cheese, or fruit option would be nice for people who do not usually want cooked breakfast. But not a problem for us.
