Beds were really comfortable, which I appreciate above all else when staying at a hotel. Rooms nicely decorated. The staff were very attentive and professional. Breakfast was great and the staff were happy to get extra toast / coffees etc when we asked. Pizzas were excellent and the waiting staff for dinner were very friendly and welcoming.

These are very small suggestions as overall it was great experience. Would have liked some more drink options in the room like hot chocolate and some biscuits on arrival. The room we had was very dark and there wasn't enough light to do my make up so, could maybe add a light up magnifying mirror.

The original building housing the bar and restaurant had been beautifully renovated and the food and drink were excellent. The bedroom was really nice (the king-size bed and enormous shower were probably the highlights). Good location for exploring locally, and we didn’t hear any noise from the main road.

This isn’t a complaint as such, just an observation - it sits on a busy main road and there aren’t regular public transport connections so you really need a car to get there and get around.

Liked that the room was on the ground floor. The coffee and tea making facilities were appreciated as was the bottle of mineral water. TV a good size and worked well. Liked that there were 2 chairs in the room and the bed was a super king and very comfortable. Pillows were good quality and the Bramley toiletries were great. The breakfast was super - yoghurt and fresh berries (granola had run out on our second day but that wasn’t a problem for us) . We ate dinner there on both evenings. Plenty of choice - we particularly enjoyed the aubergine and burrata and the chicken Milanese.

The shower had a rainfall head but no side hose so it was very difficult to shower if you didn’t want to get wet hair. A smell of drains welcomed us as we walked from the car park.

Good location, convenient for Cheltenham and Gloucester without having to stay in the town centres. Very good breakfast options and quality. The suite was a good size, with a great wet room. The bath being in the room itself is an interesting novelty. The location was quiet, though we stayed on a week night. The bar was lively until closing (which is a good thing) and the room backed directly onto the car park, unable to hear any noise from the bar itself. We experienced no issue, with the only noise being patrons returning to their cars, but perhaps something to consider for some. Room was exceptionally quiet at night, very peaceful. Bed was very comfortable - a good firm mattress in the best possible way. The restaurant was very busy at the time we had made our dinner reservation - and I had a bit of a headache from the drive - so we asked if we could eat in our room, which was organised with no fuss and they delivered it! Staff all very friendly across the board.

The only mild criticism I would have is it wasn’t very obvious upon arrival where to go to check in for the hotel. I and some other guests arriving at the same time both experienced this. Basically, just pop to the bar in the pub/restaurant and they’ll sort it out, but we had been looking for a more obvious hotel checkin area, as some have. No really an issue, just an observation. It’s quite possible we missed some obvious signs - it was dark and we were tired!

This is such a lovely place to stay ! Travelling from Derbyshire to Cornwall we decided to book a one night stop here to break the journey. One of the best places we have ever stayed. Friendly staff ready to help on arrival.Quiet, well decorated room with it's own front door, many extras including bottled mineral water with real glasses and an actual coffee machine. Sumptuous bed with fresh crisp linen. The restaurant specialises in pizza but elevates them to gourmet standard at a reasonable price. Can it get any better ? Actually Yes ! After a perfect night's sleep our breakfast was fabulous too. In the cosy ancient restaurant we ate breakfast by candlelight in front of a roaring inglenook fire. Sourdough toast with smoked salmon and avocado, topped with 2 eggs. As much tea ,coffee or fresh juice as we wanted and more toast to use with the 4 preserves provided. The breakfast staff even helped us start our car in the freezing weather ! All this at a bargain price. We will return and advise anyone else to visit.

The location. The atmosphere and food during the evening. Comfortable bed and modern room.

Breakfast - not served at same time, so had to eat before my partner received his breakfast (despite it being the same breakfast option). This seemed to be the same with other families too. The scrambled eggs were cold, so had to return to kitchen. Breakfast was served on cold plates. A shame after such a lovely experience the previous evening. Bathroom toilet seat kept slipping to side, cobwebs and dirt/scum around shower partition and in between grouting.

The room was fantastic. We stayed in room 9 with the roll top bath in the bedroom. It was very clean and really comfortable. The bed was incredible. It was so big, comfy, and the duvet was like being hugged by a cloud. The complementary toiletries were lovely, too. The room was very spacious. The pub was a 1 minute walk from our room. The pub was gorgeous, so much charter. And the food and staff were exceptional. Overall, I am extremely happy with our stay and will definitely be going back.

It isn't a dislike it's simply just one little touch that would be a nice addition to the roll top bath. It would be nice to have big fluffy robes for when you get out of the bath.

Breakfast and other meals were excellent - very good quality. Plenty of parking in ideal location near the wedding venue. Staff were very friendly and helpful, service was excellent. The pub also served my favourite draught beer, which was a bonus.

Small matter of our TV reception wasn't great in the room, but we didnt report it because we were out most of the day, so hardly used the TV.

The room was ideal, lovely, warm and welcoming. Had everything we needed and was spotlessly clean. We had intended to have our evening meal there but my wife is coeliac and they explained in detail that the same oven was used for cooking other food so we decided to eat elsewhere. She appreciated their honesty on that score. We were both able to enjoy their superb breakfast.

Can’t think of one negative.

Very beautiful old building with lovely rooms and easy access over to the pub itself. The breakfasts were especially tasty with the food being fresh and home cooked. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful.

Overall a really lovely stay but a few bits could be improved as with every hotel. Having a sign on the car park as to where you had to go to check into the hotel would be very useful. Not much can be done but the green safety light in the room meant the room had a green glow at night which for me personally was annoying. 10am check out was early considering we'd been to a wedding the night before. We would have happily paid extra to have a later check out if it were an option.
