Bailey Ground Hotel

The hotel is lovely, friendly place. All the staff and residents were lovely and made it feel like our home for the week. The beach view was amazing to have! Breakfast outstanding every morning. An affordable hotel with good size rooms and good service.Plenty of things to do around the hotel.

Only bad side was chef was on holiday leading to the restaurant being closed most of the week we were there but this can’t helped. From what i heard his food is amazing though!

Staff were really friendly and helpful to the point of being exceptional. Lovely location right on the beach. Really relaxing and quiet. WiFi speed in hotel approached 50M/bit which is very good and boosted in each room.

Mobile phone reception in hotel and in Seascale very poor (at least for Three network but WiFi in hotel very good). Room was sweltering even allowing for outside temperature as window was shut and curtain open. Window opened over the bed so not convenient for a couple if you wanted to have it wide open whilst sleeping. General area had run down feel which is a real shame as was lovely.

Liked the idea of being able to pre-book breakfast with great different items, cereals, yoghurt etc.

Fire alarm at 1.10am. Gathered outside hotel. No staff on site. Had to wait until someone came in a car. He then managed to switch off alarm and told us someone had been messing with alarm. There were no instructions in room for emergencies such as that. No very good and not very safe. Needs attention.

Superb location on the seafront. Clean and comfortable room; big fluffy towels provided with replenished tea, coffee and biscuits tray! Blackout curtains and easy to control radiators made it simple to regulate the temperature in the room. All super friendly staff. Nothing was too much trouble and the breakfast was simply awesome; freshly cooked to order with a fantastic view across the Irish Sea. Definitely partake in an ice cream from the shop - delicious

Some aspects of the room a little worn/dated and very squeaky flooring in our ground floor room and the room above but this wasn’t an issue for us - would certainly return here.

The location of the hotel right on the seafront was lovely. There’s a large car park with Tesla charging points. The rooms were more traditional looking but there was enough room and the beds were comfy. The staff were all very pleasant. The dinner there was delicious really tasty and very good sized portions. I had the steak which came with chips, coleslaw, salad and onion rings.

Only that it could be modernised.

The food was delicious. The staff were excellent-professional and friendly. The view of the sea was glorious. Very kind to our little dog, offered her sausage in the morning.

The room needed refreshing. A lick of paint etc. Only one bath towel provided. They were quick to sort once reported. The first day our room wasnt serviced. Staff apologised when reported. I feel it would have been nice for the hotel to acknowledge that we were on our honeymoon.

Our expectations were not high when we boo ked at the last minute but hotel exceeded our expectations. Sea shore is next to the hotel. Breakfast which was included in the price was good and hot. You have to write and leave beforehand as what you want night before. Overall will visit again and stay here if visiting Lake district again, although it is slightly away.

We thought the Breakfast was good and wholesome, but then found out that we only got a cooked breakfast on Saturday as a golfing team was staying at the Hotel till Saturday and we then only had a basic breakfast of Cereal and Toast on Sunday, so if the Golfing group had left on Saturday we would not have had a cooked breakfast on Saturday, this was not stated when we booked our break. The Kitchen Staff were fantastic and Friendly and did a lot for us, but the management let it down. The restaurant did fantastic meals In the evening but can not understand that on the weekend when most people eat out, the Hotel Restaurant was closed and the Chief was very friendly

The Rooms were not serviced while we were there, The Restaurant was shut Friday, Saturday and Sunday Evening and with no Restaraumts in Seascale or any where meals were hard to get in the evenings and the fact the Hotel was not manned at the reception for security reasons, on the Sunday the Hotel felt like a ghost town with no one around

Were really pleased we found the Bailey Ground and Seascale. Really affordable and good availability compared to the Lakes but there is gorgeous coastal walking (train connections work well for that) and we also had a great hill walk in Eskdale via the Ravenglass heritage railway. Clean and comfortable room and really good breakfast.

Head chef was an extremely friendly and positive character. Full English & Continental breakfast options were good and the location great for anyone wanting to explore the coast west of the lakes. Great price last minute, had a large wall mounted smart TV and room size was ample, bigger than expected. The bathroom exceeded our expectations.
