Excellent customer care, staff were very friendly and accommodating. Food delicious and gluten friendly. Chef adapted ingredients to suit. Menu was great. The staff make this place special. Room was lovely, clean and spacious Good location, bustop close by for direct route to Oxford and just 10 min walk into village of Eynsham.

Weather was very hot (can't blame hotel for that) but it made it very uncomfortable at night as no air conditioning and opening the window meant you heard the noise of traffic which continued all night. A fan was provided but it just circulated hot air. However as previously noted, you can't blame the hotel for the weather!

We stayed overnight at the Talbot Inn when going to the Nocturne series at Blenheim Palace. We had lunch and breakfast and both were cooked/presented beautifully. The hosts and staff were very welcoming, and helped us book a local taxi over to Blenheim. The room looked as if it had just been renovated; everything was well designed and laid out, and clean. It is located right by the river, on the outskirts of Eynsham village. We heard a cuckoo calling us on a walk by the river before we left!

Everything was fine. The road was surprisingly busy like many of the roads around Oxford.

This is family run Hotel, Jemma and Stewart along with their children and excellent staff, worked very hard to provide a warm, welcoming atmosphere on arrival and throughout our stay. The set breakfast was well considered, it included the standard English, Veggie and Vegan choices, together with a bespoke choice on request. The evening dinners were easily best restaurant standard and Stewart (chef) was happy to chat. Well done all.

There was nothing we significantly disliked, we understand the Hotel is tied to Arkell Brewery, I (John) would have liked a wider selection of local beers, we appreciate the Hotel's position here though. A mini-fridge would bee a welcome addition, particularly during warm weather.

This is an absolute gem of accommodation and awesome food, I do not use these words lightly travelling weekly and staying mainly at the larger hotel chains. Very pleasantly surprised, friendly staff who greet you with a smile. Stewart the manager is a trained chef by trade who has two future master chefs under his training and watchful eye. They take total pride in the food that is presented, very good menu choice. Great selection of beers. Accommodation has been completed re-furbished with nice rooms and good on-suite facilities. Breakfast is very good (ask for an Omelette it's not on the menu but they will cook one for you which again is a sign of a great establishment that goes the extra mile). I fully recommend this accommodation for its friendly staff, great food and clean rooms.

Nothing at all.

A beautifully kept historic building with modern facilities and outdoor seating next to an ancient river lock. Ideal countryside situation but close to the village with easy access to major routes. An industrial complex to one side was quiet and closed for the weekend, with an abundance of wildlife, and gives a feeling of added security to the premises. Excellent staffing, the very efficient ladies in the restaurant friendly and welcoming to visitors, with many thanks to Stewart, the manager/chef, for being so accommodating of my "extra" requests and excellent quality of meals. Plenty of room in the "small double", spotlessly clean, modern eco LED lighting & large double-headed shower. Direct access with own key from accommodation to car park and patio area.

The most expensive overnight stay with meals that I've had personally but still competitive for the area. Noted the unusual absence of a cereal/fruit juice/toast table at breakfast but maybe my Sunday 8am request was too early. Very good full English though.

Recently refurbished throughout, this historic building has fresh well fitted bedrooms and comfortable bar and eating areas. Food was good, both dinner and breakfast. The very best thing about the Talbot is the team that run it. Very welcoming, friendly and attentive to their guests. We only had a single night stay but thoroughly enjoyed it.

It’s an ancient building at the side of a fairly busy road so traffic noise is inevitable and there is a small industrial unit at the rear of the property which starts early. The very warm weather meant we had to sleep with windows open so the noise was somewhat intrusive.

Absolutely perfect - in every way Travelling from Scotland to Oxford for a couple of days with work I initially looked at staying in the city and then after seeing the Talbot Inn (a 15 min bus ride away) online I quickly changed my mind and I'm so glad I did. I picked up a hire car and drove from Luton Airport (super easy) and arrived late morning to a lovely welcome - friendly and inviting. Parked up (in large car park) and unpacked in a beautiful and freshly decorated twin bedded room, grabbed a quick shower (big fluffy towels and fancy double rain shower!) before deciding to abandon the car and hop on the bus (stop immediately outside) into Oxford for some meetings. Booked dinner in the restaurant for the evening and it was absolutely first class. Lots of choice, fresh local produce and delicious. Busy with local customers on a Tuesday evening always tells a good tale! Booked again for the Wednesday evening and once again wasn't disappointed! Yum. As a frequent traveller (work and personal) it is rare to find a gem like the Talbot Inn. One which ticks every hospitality box - excellent food, friendly staff AND customers, comfy beds, a room offering a desk big enough to work comfortably, sympathetically decorated with lots of lovely touches (see photos), ample parking, delicious breakfasts, ooh and it's on the Thames Walkway so perfect for walkers and their pooches! Thank you all. Next time I'm in the area I'll definitely return!

I didn't like that I had to leave!

This hotel was absolutely fabulous, I received such a nice welcome when I arrived and was happily surprised to see the accommodation has all been refurbished and the room was beautiful. The bathroom was also beautiful with an excellent shower and all the necessary complimentary shampoos etc. They were tea and coffee making facilities and the bed was so comfortable. We ate in the restaurant and the food was excellent and breakfast in the morning was fabulous, I lovely choice and freshly cooked. The staff were all professional, efficient but friendly and welcoming. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to everybody.

Nothing wrong with this place.

Excellent breakfast with plenty of fresh fruit in addition to cereals, yoghurt etc and tasty well cooked hot food. Lovely very clean spacious room and ensuite with very good shower. Stewart, Jemma and the team were so welcoming and helpful even going so far as to print out a map of Oxford for me. The evening meals were delicious - we particularly enjoyed the duck breast. The pub is perfectly placed for a trip to Oxford as there is a bus which stops just outside. Nice walk from the pub down to the canal and the Thames.

We liked it all.
