John, the owner, and the rest of his staff went above and beyond to accommodate our needs during our stay. We landed at The Golf Tavern after a long journey from the states, and it was the perfect place to get settled before our 3 week trip around Scotland. Close to Edinburgh without paying Edinburgh prices. Experience the local culture in the pub at night with a pool table and darts. John even let us use his PC for a few minutes to accomplish a work task. We asked him if it was hard to run an inn, and he said no, "you just look after people" in his charming Scottish accent. 11/10 would recommend :)

Everything was perfect.

The Tavern is situated in a quiet corner of the town, but is only a minute on foot from the river and close to the town centre. Our room was very comfortable and light and of a decent size. The carpet was perhaps a little tired and the bathroom is basic but perfectly functional and clean. Breakfast was excellent and the restaurant is a pleasant location. The staff were efficient and helpful. Car parking might be an issue from time-to-time, but we had no difficulty.

Nothing really.

Rooms are very nicely-presented and loaded with toiletries, smart TV and Wifi. Full Scottish breakfast was great. Next to lovely river and church. Very good value.

The pub itself isn't so posh. Given there isn't a reception you have to walk to the bar and may have to wait until the locals' pints are poured before getting checked in.

Friendly helpful staff. Room was booked for a one night stop on a cycle trip. Arrived to find the kitchen was closed because of staff having to self isolate, but the lady booking us in recommended and booked a table for us a lovely restaurant overlooking the river just around the corner. The owner who lived next to the Golf Tavern very kindly stored our bicycles overnight in his garage !!

The room had a ceiling velux window which had a blackout blind. Unfortunately we could not close it completely which meant we were woken early by bright sun above the bed (stayed in July-early sunrise )

All the staff were welcoming & helpful. Our twin room was clean and functional with small TV + Tea & Coffee making facilities. The beds were comfortable. The shower room / WC & sink were all clean and well presented. We were provided with towels & shower gel etc. Breakfast & evening meal were good, service was prompt & polite.

Car parking can be tricky depending on the time of day. Our room had a skylight as the only means of ventilation & natural light. There was no way to block out the day light in the vary early hours. The room was very comfortable & clean. It could be improved by a new carpet however we acknowledge that finances are restricted following the various lock downs which have impacted the amount of money available for upgrading the rooms.

Staff very accommodating when changing check in time and very helpful. Pleasant comfortable room, Breakfast was excellent.

Small amount of mould round edge of shower tray and down the corners of the wall, and a hole in the ceiling at the side of the ventilation fan in the shower.

Staff were so helpful & polite. The two girls, who were working the morning we left were so honest, & came running over to our car with a pair of diamond earrings. The earrings weren't ours. But praise to them for being so honest.

All good.

Staff were friendly, bed was comfortable, everything was fine. We found a lovely place to eat called The Waterfront in the small town.

No parking, but it did say so we knew, so can't really complain about that. It was Burns Night but they didn't have anything special.

It was all good. The golf had a brilliant ambience.

It would have been nice if the weather forecast had been accurate. There was terrible frost and snow warnings so I decided to cut short my stay. The bad weather never materialised..............

Everything. We were attending an 80th Birthday lunch at a near by restaurant at 12.30 and had driven 130 miles from home in Cumbria that morning. Had requested that room be available at noon so we could change. Arrived at 11.40 and room was ready. Friendly welcome. Excellent breakfast next morning after good nights sleep.

Nothing.
