Lovely traditional country village hotel. We have stayed here 4-5 times in recent years and enjoy the hotel a lot. Very helpful friendly staff, great breakfast and nice evening meals. Rooms are comfortable and are decorated in a traditional style. Overall a great value hotel.

Not really the hotels fault however the nearby landowners have introduced gas guns to scare off the birds from their crops. Unfortunately our dog gets scared every time the guns go off making it impossible for us to walk our dog anymore down in Gifford. The guns appear to have been introduced in the last couole of years

Location was beautiful . Peaceful and relaxing with a wonderful discovery of an ancient castle near by ! The staff were all very welcoming and polite. Always happy to help and accommodate when asked. Breakfast was good. As a vegetarian it was nice to have a few options to chose from and being able to select particular items daily is great .

Due to the age of the building you can hear a lot of what’s going on in other rooms . This cannot be helped but it is something that woke me up on one of my nights

Great little place, quiet village, close enough to nip to Edinburgh for the day although buses from Gifford are patchy, they are great in the next village of Haddington. Very welcoming staff, cute little rooms, nothing flashy but immaculately clean and comfortable. Gave a 9 but would have been a 10 had our room overlooked the village green rather than a flat roof but this was out of hotels control as we got the last available room.

Apart from the view from the room, absolutely nothing at all

The staff were very welcoming, the room was nice with a view out to the garden. The food was fine, and we enjoyed the full Scottish breakfast which was included in the price. The hotel is situated in this beautiful village which hasn't changed a bit since I used to live near this area long ago. The location is perfect for a base to tour around and visit other little towns and villages such as Haddington and Duns etc, including a drive over to the lammermuir Hills by the whiteadder reservoir. There was nothing we didn't like about the Tweeddale, the prices are obviously a little higher during the high season in the summer time but they are a very reasonable price compared to others and to have the breakfast included was a bonus.

Wonderful property, clearly looked after in keeping with the age of the building. Fantastic old furniture very well looked after. Breakfast was great as were the staff.

Sadly the chef was ill so couldn’t get an evening meal, it’s possible the other hotel in the village would have accommodated us an evening meal, or one of the cafe’s had we arrived a little earlier. Booked this property as parking was mentioned, but it’s street parking, they probably did have private parking that would have fit out motorbike in, due to the weather, we didn’t bother.

We had a lovely welcome from the staff at the hotel and all the local people in the bar area. We had a history lesson from one of the locals and chatted to all the regulars about the history of the area. The evening meal and breakfast was delicious and the service first class. We would definitely like to return and spend more than one day exploring the area and the community woods that the locals have worked hard to renovate. Thank you x

The whole vibe of the property and area made you feel like you have stepped into historic Scotland. Perfect place to relax with plenty of nature around.

Parking was not designated parking spaces but there was plenty of available spots nearby. Although understandable reasons during our stay food was not available in evenings - we were not made aware of this until we arrived/phoned up and asked while on the way.

Nice Hotel in a small village with ample on street parking and lovely staff. There was a fan in the room which was good as it was quite a warm day. Breakfast was good.

Room was a little tired in some areas. The bathroom grouting could do with a spruce up. There was too much furniture in the room for my liking. There was a dressing table/desk that I could not sit at as the stool underneath could not be moved because it was too close to the bed. It always surprises me that no one who works in the Hotel spots these things.

Superb country hotel without all the modern "rubbish" Absolutely nothing to fault, although might be difficult for some because a lot of stairs. The location for a stopover travelling north or visiting Edinburgh is unbeatable. The fantastic price is perhaps because of the location, might be hard for Chelsea Tractors.

Nothing, although rooms are upstairs which could make access difficult for some. As I was travelling alone I didn't enquire about disabled access.

It was in a perfect place for us, and in a lovely little village. The staff were so friendly and welcoming and made us feel quickly at home. All the locals in the pub were equally friendly and made a huge fuss of our dog. Was extremely dog friendly. The food (breakfast and evening meals) were great

The en suit was quite small and it was awkward to get into the toilet but it was adequate
