Dunmuir Hotel

The room was spacious and comfortable, with a pleasant view over the town to the Lammermuir Hills, I had breakfast each morning, which more than met my requirements and set me up for the day to explore the East Lothian coast line. Had dinner on two occasions; found the food excellent. The dinner menu offered a wide choice. The staff at all times were attentive. This is a relevantly small hotel which has worked out a system allowing guests to book a mealtime in advance. The system works to everybody's advantage.

Unless you are very demanding, I would be hard put to say what improvements could have been made. People can always find fault if they are so minded, in which case they should book into one of the 5 Star hotels further along the coast and pay correspondingly more!

The staff were the nicest and really helpful, the location was excellent and nice to explore somewhere smaller and different with easy access to the train the get to Edinburgh., The breakfast was delicious, and the bathroom was spotless and modern. Whatever the shortbread is that is in the room is also great!

The room was really dusty and not the cleanest (surfaces were clean, the carpets and corners hadn't been touched in a while) but it was acceptable. There were also a lot of spiders for some reason and they seemed to crawl into a hole in and out from the corner of the room by the window

I loved the fact that at check-in we were welcomed back rather than the basic hello, my hubby had phoned prior regarding our room and asked if any of the 20 + rooms were available which he was told unfortunately not however upon arrival we were told we were in room 23 which was fantastic as I didn't fancy going up and down the stairs due to arthritic knees, the staff are so friendly and very helpful,, the rooms are fantastic value with the extra bits such as iron and hairdryer,,I just can't praise the place enough

The staff were wonderful - friendly, helpful, efficient and courteous. The breakfast was excellent - plenty of choice, generous portions and hot when served. We had a meal in the restaurant and it was lovely. Good quality and beautifully presented. The small bar area was cosy and comfortable, with a great selection of single malt whiskies and a friendly, helpful barman. Car parking was plentiful and easily accessible. An easy walk to the town and harbour area.

The room was large, clean and comfortable. Had everything we needed, but it was somewhat "tired" in comparison with some of the areas elsewhere in the hotel. There were no toiletries provided - the first time in a very long time that I've encountered this. Just as well I'd taken hand soap and shampoo! Overall, I would describe the decor as "old school" rather than stylish ( apart from the restaurant and bar which were very nicely appointed).

A very warm welcome, spotlessly clean room and bathroom. Lovely little bar where we met other residents and had some good chat and cocktails. Breakfast was lovely and cooked fresh for each guest. There appeared to be no limits to the breakfast you could order. Lovely evening meal on the Friday night. Exceptionally reasonable and a great location. When they say dog friendly they mean dog friendly and there were no restrictions for where we could eat or drink.

We liked everything.

Breakfast was pre-ordered the evening before. Staff attentive and friendly. Sadly we couldn’t have dinner at the hotel as restaurant was closed for the 2 nights we were there( we knew this prior to our arrival) staff helpfully gave us alternative options in Dunbar. I accidentally left a jacket in the wardrobe, staff offered to send this on, but I requested they kept this for me to collect a week later as we were driving past.

Lovely size room which great super size double bed. Great to be able to open the windows and have fresh air in the room, meant it was just the right temperature for us. Took our dog with us and very accommodating for having your dog with you, just an extra £10 which is a lot less that some hotels charge you. We have dinner and breakfast at the hotel, both meals were delicious. Really good for dietary requirements, my wife was very excited to be able to have a dairy free sticky toffee pudding. Would very much stay again.

The room was large and comfortable. The bed was comfortable and there was a good number of plump pillows. The shower was large and had good water pressure. Convenient location to access Dunbar and the wider region. We only stayed overnight so didn't try out the restaurant or any other facilities but it was fine for what we needed.

They door into the hotel area from the restaurant/reception area could do with soft close hinges. Every time someone went through it banged loudly. I could cope for one night but I could see this becoming problematic during a longer stay. Carpark could have bays marked out to increase capacity.

We were upgraded to a brand new room as the one offered had a bath and my wife needed a walk in shower. I was impressed to get instant hot water from the tap in the bathroom. We slept well in the brand new bed. We enjoyed the evening drink in the bar, and conversation with the staff and other guests. Breakfast in the brand new restaurant was excellent allowing us to pre-order our breakfasts offering a choice of continental or full cooked Scottish. Overall for the price it was an excellent choice and only a short walk into the town centre, where we discovered the story of John Muir.

The room was small with little space for our suitcases, but was manageable for our short stay.

The bed was extremely comfortable. The staff were welcoming, friendly and very attentive. It was such a treat to be waited on at breakfast instead of a buffet, and, after dinner, dessert was happily brought to our room even though they were clearly very busy in the restaurant. The location was perfect, just off the A1.

I didn't mind ordering breakfast the night before: it sensibly reduces food waste, and the food is ready for you when you arrive at your table the next morning. However I found the order form confusing! It
