Huge range of whiskies on display (sadly unsampled because of driving), reasonable tariff and excellent food in the evening. A warm and friendly welcome, and the rooms and beds very comfortable. Traditional decor. Evening menu has plenty of choice and quality was excellent. There is also a well-stocked bar. Very good value for money.

Shower nice and hot but tiles etc looking a little tired and in need of refurbishment. Rooms (understandably) unheated until occupied so took a little time to warm up. Only Continental breakfast available at the time of stay - having said that it was excellent quality, ample quantity and plenty of choice

I have been here many times before. Owner is a great host. He was very helpful. The restaurant provides amazing food, the chicken curry was phenomenal! Better than any restaurant I have tasted. There is a huge whisky collection and if you are a fan of Uisce beatha then this is a place to visit. The room was clean, comfortable and very quiet. I did not try the breakfast as I left early but I saw the continental spread which looked amazing!

Always prefer to book into an independent hotel and was not disappointed. Second to none whiskey selection and great beers , Meals in the Resteraunt were good and very reasonably priced , The owner, Nadal and all staff where friendly and welcoming . Would defiantly stay here again.

Due to staffing issues there was no hot breakfasts just continental but this was clearly advertised on site

At this whisk lovers haven I found the reception was predetermined and organised as was the departure. There was plenty of free parking with extra large bays. Nidal the owner, bent over backwards to cater for every need and nothing was too much bother. I was amazed at how a hotel displaying over 300 whiskies could keep such a stock and front of house so immaculately clean and ordered. The room was spotlessly clean and the bed made for an excellent few evenings sleep. everything worked, it even comes with a drinks cooler. The homemade food was first class and we'll within my budget, the Indian Garlic Curry is worth particular mention (have it with the garlic Naan!). After a week here I felt like part of the family with all of the staff making me feel comfortable. If my work brings me to the area in the near future, I will definitely stay again.

Absolutely nothing

Breakfast was continental only but there was a good choice of food and quality was of a high standard. The proprietors were also both welcoming and friendly.

The location was a little further away from Glasgow than is ideal, but it was good for my return journey south on the M74.

Well this hotel was just for one night but it suited my needs perfectly and I really couldnt find any faults, also I found the staff were very obliging , so I would recommend it to anyone .

If you accept the fact that this is not a very top of the class hotel and gives good value I could not fault it.

The Villa Hotel was a lovely building with interesting history. Large dining areas and patio to relax in. The owners were lovely and we would like to visit again. If staying try the home made Curry’s on the menu as they are some of the best we have tasted. Made by the owner, who we found out has won awards for his food. Also a wide range of Whiskies are a must try too.

Friendly and helpful attitude of the owners. Meals- I knew from previous stays that I'd get excellent, good value, authentic curries and wasn't disappointed

On a very personal level, the bed was a bit hard for me but I'm a wise enough and seasoned traveller to take a piece of mattress topper with me, so no problem. I'm sure the bed would be fine for most people

Proprietors were very friendly, the room was very clean and the continental breakfast was very good.

Could hear traffic on road outside - not sure if window was double glazed. Small car park, although I didn't have any trouble parking when I visited. I would also have preferred the option of a cooked breakfast.
