Shawlee Cottage

Sandy & Cathy Aitken are the most phenomenal people. Their kindness and hospitality made me feel as if I had unpacked my entire home—they are where the heart is. Admittedly, I felt a ‘wee bit’ sad having to say goodbye. Sandy & Cathy, many thanks for everything! The room, the breakfasts, the talks, the laughs—you’ve made my first to trip to Scotland absolutely wonderful. Upon arrival I was greeted by Sandy and Cath who were very welcoming and friendly. I was shown to my room and Sandy explained about the facilities and talked about breakfast arrangements and I was pleasantly surprised as it wasn't continental as described on Booking.com, but a full English breakfast. The location was perfect for my trip with easy access and road links to Glasgow and Edinburgh, not that I went to these cities on this visit. Room was clean and the bed very comfortable there was a TV and tea and coffee making facilities. As mentioned the full english breakfast was excellent and freshly cooked to order with plenty of juice, tea, coffee and toast and nothing was too much trouble. I would most definitely return and would definitely recommend this b&b as it was excellent value for money and had excellent hosts.

There wasn't much I didn't like apart from the bathroom which was a tight squeeze, but I guess considering it was a single occupancy room it was sufficient.

Fantastic place to stay for Scotland exploration. The cottage is cosy, very clean and with some history. Sandy and Cathy are lovely couple. Their Scottish breakfast is delicious. It was our first visit to Scotland and thanks to Sandy's advices we have seen great places that we would have missed. We will highly recommend Shawlee Cottage to everyone. And we will be back :)

Breakfast exeptional, nothing is too much trouble. Lovely Cathy and Sandy who really make you welcome. Beautiful home and garden with lots of character. Very near Airdrie railway station with a good car park. £1.50 to park your car for the day and you even get that back when you buy a rail ticket, only 25 mins for a pleasant run to Glasgow.

The shower could do with an update.

Sandy and Cathy, thank you! The place is what it is because of the attitude and the coziness created by the landlords. It was our second family stay in the property. And we will make it regular. The next visit to Scotland - again.

Sandy and Cathy were super friendly and helpful. They are nice people to chat with and have a lot of things to say about Scotland. The place was tidy and cleaned everyday. We felt very welcome here and can recommend a stay. The place has a good location, close to Glasgow and Edinburgh, but Stirling and the highlands are close as well.

Our hosts were the best part of our stay. So hospitable, so helpful. Nothing too much trouble. The place was clean and tidy. Breakfast was excellent.

Wouldn’t have minded being closer to restaurants.

Cathy and Sandy were charming, caring, wonderful hosts! Breakfast was scrumptious, room spotless, couldn’t be any better. Train station to both Glasgow and Edinburgh a few miles away with a park and ride so made it very easy to see both without having to drive in. Would highly recommend staying here.

Firstly I'd like to mention how lovely Sandy & Kath are, they couldn't do enough for you. Providing a lovely breakfast each morning with top quality ingredients cooked to perfection by Kath & served by Sandy. Definitely a great home from home when working away. Would definitely stay again and highly recommend.

The hosts are absolutely wonderful. They did everything to make our stay comfortable. They were helpful and cheerful. Sitting with other travelers at breakfast was also fun.

The bed was a little too soft for my back. Otherwise, the room was great.
