Holiday Inn Express Hull City Centre, an IHG Hotel

Wonderful staff, really helpful when we couldn't find the entrance, also let us check in early which was appreciated greatly. Room was very clean and comfortable, with adjustable thermostat which was great. Overall very pleasant.

A few of the lamps in our room didn't work so we made do with the bedside lighting, but it made for a nice bit of ambience. Additionally for such a cosy room I do feel the price is on the higher side, I understand breakfast is included which is fab 👍 but if you don't have the breakfast it does feel a little steep. The biggest inconvenience was the lack of entryways, especially for people on foot. It took us a while to find the only entrance which is on the 2nd story of a car park structure, which no clear signage for people on foot. And walking through the car park whenever we wanted to go back to our room was a bit awkward.

The location was spot on. There were several references to (I can't quite remember the wording), but sound-proofing, and the room was certainly quiet. We had no disturbance through our weekend stay, which to be honest, was a bit of a concern with it being near the City Centre. All the support workers were lovely and friendly but I would like to give a special mention to the cleaning staff as they were so smiley and helpful

To be honest, we had booked an apartment elsewhere and had been let down at the last minute and we do like a little more space. But the facilities were great. And we weren't let down at the last minute (After they had taken our money, like our apartment letting!!!!) so we can't fault. Honest, reliable and you know what you get.

Lovely room. Clean and well maintained. Staff were very friendly and welcoming on arrival. Breakfast was really nice. Provided a hot buffet, and cereal/toast/muffins/pancakes. Allergen free options available! Breakfast staff were incredibly attentive and helpful! Great location, near the shops, not far to walk to The Deep & Dinostar.

I found the bed slightly uncomfortable, but my husband said it was okay for him. Would have liked a little more choice on hot breakfast. It was just bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs and beans. But the food that was served was excellent!

The room was clean and comfortable. Like that they give you firm and soft pillows for choice and you can even ask at reception if you wanted a feather pillow. The staff I did see were polite and friendly.

We waited at the bar for a drink, about 10.30 pm and not a member of staff in sight. There were two gentlemen already drinking at the bar (the only people in there, so it wasn't busy). One of them shouted through to someone to say there were people waiting, but still nobody came out. We ended up getting a drink from the vending machine and just went back to the room.

Excellent location. Liked how you can walk directly into the hotel reception from St Stephen’s multistory car park. Friendly informative staff. Double room looked a little basic at first but very comfortable, liked the Dove hand wash/body wash. A sign saying if you’ve forgotten anything they offer complimentary things. Very clean at breakfast (staff continually wiping down and refilling). Good choice of food. Pre-packed pastries are a good idea. Being gluten free I was impressed with the gluten free bread and cereals set out on a separate table with a list of what they offer (including gluten free sausages on request which were delicious) and a separate toaster labelled gluten free only. Would have been nice if they had gluten free pastries/pan au chocolate etc but I still got my fill with everything else they had. I would definitely return.

The staff especially Sean and Yanna were exceptional!! Dion, Amy, Dave and Katie were amazing too. They all went above and beyond in making my solo weekend trip to Hull comfortable and assuring. Nothing was too much and they were extremely professional and helpful at all times and had a genuine kind caring manner! Best Holiday Inn Express have ever been to. Breakfast was lovely and at a high standard. Bedroom was very comfortable and clean. Thank you guys!!

The hotel reception is not on street level so you mainly have to access by lifts. Anyone with claustrophobia travelling alone might be best served at another hotel with reception on street level. Saying that Yanna and Sean took the time to show me the stairs and accompany me in the lifts. Super stars!!!

Breakfast was excellent.. the cooked breakfast was hot and plentiful.. although missing a couple of things like mushrooms and tomatoes. The pastries and other items available were fresh and plentiful .. lots of fruit, cereals and yoghurt.. great bread for toasting.. none of that awful cheap packaged stuff .. it was real bread.. lots of choice in hot drinks .. all in all an excellent breakfast.. great location.. easy access into hotel from the car park .. safe parking that’s not over priced Rooms are great.. very clean and comfortable.. lovely towels. Hairdryer provided and iron/ironing board .. very useful .. fabulous views from 7th floor ..would stay here again.

A mini fridge in the room would have been helpful.

The whole feel of the hotel was clean and spacious. The seating in the lobby/bar area is great and there was plenty of room at breakfast. Sean on reception was so helpful and very kind by managing to find a way we could check in earlier than expected as we had arrived early. He showed us how to get to the arena as we were going there that night. Check in was easy, the room was clean and comfortable and the breakfast was a good standard. Check out was equally straight forward including paying for the car park, which was just outside of the entrance. The views across the city from the sixth floor were fantastic. I would definitely stay again for any future Hull visits. Perfectly located for the Bonus Arena as it is about a 5min walk away - you can see it from the hotel!

Would have preferred electrical sockets or usb charging points next to the bed but this is really a very minor thing.

Clean room; very comfortable bed; powerful shower with plenty of hot water; nice towels for two; very quiet; extras such as tissue box in bathroom, notepad and pen, showed that the hotel wasn't scrimping for the sake of it. Only those with a room key can get above the reception floor in the lift. Breakfast had a good and plentiful spread. Excellent positioning for trains and buses, shopping and eating.

Although it suited us being able to come and go, the lift is the only access which makes things seem cold and impersonal. TV had a very limited number of channels.

The room and reception areas were very clean and comfortable. We were impressed with the choice and quality of breakfast. Overall, it was a very good stay.

We had slight issues with the parking at the property, which was a shame as we had stayed at the property before and never had a problem. We paid for our parking at reception as usual and then went to the parking metre later to pay the small top up as we had staid past the allocated time. However it turned out the member of staff hadn't put our parking through correctly. The issue was resolved. However, it meant a return to the metre for a second time that was quite some distance away from the hotel. We received no apology.
