Best Western Lairgate Hotel

Perfect position, good size rooms, clean, and very friendly staff.

Our room was a good size room with a four poster bed, and a good size en suite, the unfortunate thing was that the room was damp and a strong fusty smell, the room was clean cannot fault that, I just feel that it is very tired and could do with refurbishing, I presume Lairgate hotel is a listed building so some things will be difficult to do and also I understand all this costs and in a time of recession. All this said we had a good evening and would stay again but possibly in a different room.

The room (no. 7) was spacious and comfortable with a large bathroom with bath. Windows that actually opened and it was quiet !! Excellent cleaners. The breakfast was varied and beautifully cooked and the staff - particularly reception and breakfast - were so friendly and helpful.

Not much really. Occasional outside loud voices from other guests, but not much you can do about that if they want an outside drink. Or if they're returning back later at night. Car park lights were very bright.

Lovely traditional old hotel, right in the heart of historic Beverley. Our room was on an upper floor which gave us rooftop views over part of the town centre. Our room was warm, comfortable and contained everything needed. Unlike most modern hotels, the Lairgate has plenty of informal, communal space for it's guests to relax in and the grand central staircase is a real gem. We regularly visit the area and have no idea why we haven't used the Lairgate previously but will certainly do so again.

Maintenance need to make good the walls either side of the bed where fixed bedside tables have been removed.

Loved the building, so elegant and a magnificent staircase and furnishings in sympathy with the era. It is a pity that there was not an account of its previous history available, would have loved to have known more about it One of the best single en suite bedrooms I have ever had and so lovely and warm. Hurrah, no stupid nest of cushions on the bed, which was very comfortable.

The car park was very tricky for manoeuvring. A more comprehensive map of Beverley itself would have been helpful.

Brilliant location for the town centre and cathedral.

Sadly the heating failed in our room this wasn’t a fault of the hotel just unfortunately an unforeseen plumbing problem. We were immediately given another room and the staff were brilliant in ensuring everything was fine with us. It is a very old building and it maybe not modern boutique style but traditional and friendly was great for us.

Lovely friendly staff , great location for access to Town Centre , Bars and Restaurants.

Front door locked upon returning from Drinks in the Town Centre with Family, no prior warning and had to call Hotel only to be told we had to walk to the rear of the Hotel. Initself not too much of a problem but we had disabled relative with us. We intended to have a drink in the Hotel Bar whilst awaiting a Taxi to take them Home only to find the Bar closed at 8.30pm.

Location is perfect, room was on the ground floor with a large comfy bed & big bathroom. Staff on reception & in dining room were friendly & nothing was too much trouble.

We have used this hotel 5 times in the last 15 years or so & it has had one proper refurb during that time, probably needs a bit of decorating just to smarten it up again.. Car park does not have enough spaces for room allocation.

this hotel was spotlessly clean, the beds were very comfortable, the breakfast was outstanding and the location is perfect.

The car park is small and due to someone parking their car in the entrance it was difficult to get out of. The hotel is very dated, but it does look like it is being refurbed but we actually liked the decor as it had personality, not some bland chain hotel.

Cooked vegetarian breakfast was top notch. This hotel has old fashioned charm. Friendly staff. Good level of cleanliness.

Parking is first come first serve in a fairly compact car park, but there is a pay car park opposite which is free between 6pm and 8am and so you can always park there overnight and move the car when spaces arise in the morning

Loved my room on the courtyard (I only wish it hasn't been so rainy!). Appreciated the 'old-fashioned' furnishings, and the spaciousness. Excellent breakfasts. I loved the beautiful lounge rooms.

Stronger light would be appreciated (1600 lumens), as my spacious room meant it was darker in the rear.
