Overdale Motel0

We loved the lovely decking area. This is where we spent out Saturday evening. The owner obliged in giving me a room downstairs as I'm recovering from surgery and cannot do the stairs.

Although it's a bit of a hike from the train station, a stay at Overdale is absolutely worthwhile. My bed was exceptionally cozy, and having a closet to use for storage was a big advantage. The breakfasts exceeded my expectations, too. The menu is huge, offering plenty of options even for dietarily-restricted people like me, and the quality is consistently superb! The host was also kind enough to let me store food in the mini-fridge by the bar. Truly, it's hard to fault this place!

Using an external bathroom always feels disruptive in the late hours of the night; can't fault the host for that.

beautiful building and grounds. the window view was stunning. Breakfast was fantastic.

the room I had was lovely and big.. the bathroom could have done with a deeper clean, and the skirting boards were very dusty. There were a few large cobwebs under the sink and in the back of the wardrobe. Our 2nd room my parents stayed in was very small and had a tiny window to open, so it was too hot for my parents both in their late 60s and 70s to sleep properly, unfortunately. The lady that checked us in didn't seem to keen on showing us around, felt a bit like we were in the way or imposing. the lady in the morning for breakfast was lovely and seemed very helpful.

It was lovely and warm and welcoming!! The room was very clean! Breakfast was exceptional and as someone who dislikes tea and coffee, having the option to have hot chocolate was great!! Susan was brilliant, very friendly and made us feel really at home!

Nice Guesthouse, no complaints, staff great

The host Susan was very welcoming. My room was a good size and was very comfortable. Downstairs there was a guests lounge with a small bar which allowed you to have a beer ( for a donation into the honesty tin). The house was nice and warm and though i only had breakfast on one of the 3 nights i stayed there ( due to early work departure) it was a nice scrambled egg and toast.

Nothing that the MOtel can do about this but for a pedestrian the guesthouse would be a bit outside the town. However i did walk into town on the first morning and got to the train station within a 20 minute walk. so not too bad. Apart form a spar nearby there is not much else in terms of shops, but it did have a good selection.

Our room had a bonus door that led to a private patio. Beautiful Gardens! Also, the host provided a mini fridge for people to use in the sun room, as well as books in the lounge (if you wanted) AND a microwave in the dining area, which was great for warming up takeaway foods!

Only comment is the original listing stated that breakfast had to be takeaway or delivered to room, but that has changed and they serve breakfast in the beautiful dining area. I suspect the details were during Covid and just haven't been changed.

The location was extremely great for me & easy to find from the airport. A bit tricky getting my suitcase upstairs but managed ok. The stay was very pleasant and so quiet at night, slept well. Breakfast was so delicious and plenty to keep you going all day. The staff are very efficient, polite and will help in any way. Amazing you order breakfast and within minutes a beautiful breakfast. Would recommend to all my friends in Australia.

The only whinge I had was getting my suitcase upstairs, but maybe I travel to heavy ?

Very clean and pleasant staff members, and breakfast is included which is nicely served in the morning. The property consists of other amenities such as en-suite, shared lounge and dining area and a garden. It is very good value for money motel and is all that a person needs.

The check out at the property is too early, at 10am. We wanted to pay extra to leave a bit later, as we didn’t realise it would be at 10am, as we assumed it would be like other accommodations at 2pm earliest. We were told we couldn’t extend, which was a bit off putting. The breakfast is lovely, but it is served only for an hour, from 8-9am, it would have been more comfortable if it was at least between 8-10am.
