The Eagles Hotel

- Very nice room with comfortable beds. - Very good breakfast. - Good location, close to several good takeaway places and grocery stores, and the railway station. - Quiet surroundings and rooms. - Close to Betws y coed where the Snowdonia shuttle bus leaves from.

- The shower was very low, longer people cannot stand straight. - The breakfast did not have any scrambled eggs. - More info about the surrounding Snowdonia national park at the hotel had been good - it is after all not far away.

Great location, great parking. Room was comfortable. Hotel is a bit dated but it was fine for one night. They have good bilingual signs.

At breakfast, it was a bit strange seeing butter from Ireland and yogurt from England. English music was played in the breakfast room which I found strange in a Welsh speaking area like Llanrwst. Maybe they could work with the local language initiative “Menter Iaith Dyffryn Conwy” (which is a 2 mins walk from the hotel) to incorporate more Welsh feeling in the breakfast room? Welsh butter / Llaeth y Llan yogurts / Welsh language music….?

Excellent variety to choose from the full Welsh was tasty and hot. There’s orange juice and cereal also available, you could make your own toast with a choice of brown or white. The service was excellent, we were asked what we would like on the full breakfast. The bar staff were great accommodating us to have a meal without a reservation on our second night, the food was fantastic and hot, the cook and kitchen staff cooked some beautiful food, the staff on reception were very helpful and friendly, the building was old with some uneven flooring but added character to the setting. The hotel is central to the town and situated between two major towns with Conwy and Llandudno to the north. A weekend break in a lovely part of Wales.

Our room was on the small size looked bigger in the photos we seen when booking, only one seat available.

The breakfast was excellent, the best I have ever had in a hotel or B&B. The position of the hotel is lovely, especially as we all had dogs and access to walks was brilliant. Prices were good too for a hotel. Staff were wonderful and couldn’t do enough for you.

Absolutely nothing, all was perfect for us, but if we had to be picky then the rooms need a little updating but some may like the oldish furnishings as are in keeping with the age of the hotel, they were still very clean.

the hotel was much bigger than expected and a lovely old building, right on the river with outside space, full of history. dining room and bar were very good and prices were good. the menu was limited BUT what was cooked was very nice. breakfast was lovely. the owner was a really friendly guy and we had some good banter and the lady behind the bar during the day was the best, she typified her role, friendly, remembered our round after the first time and was really helpful in suggesting local sights for us to visit. we would defiantly book again if we were back in the area.

the only downside was that we picked a weekend of local rugby cup finals and the saturday night was jam packed, it wasnt a real problem as we took ourselves into the dining room lobby to sit, just took a bit longer to get to the bar for drinks. having said that we went to bed before they had dispersed and did not get affected by any noise so it was just bad luck on our part and no fault of the hotel, small village community atmosphere when these things happen i guess.

Very relaxed attitude of staff made us feel very comfortable. Excellent dinner and lunch shared with friends from nearby who were also made very welcome. No hassle on leaving was also very welcome.

Very small points: the water pressure in the bathroom was rather poor; the selection of cereals, jam etc at breakfast was rather limited and staff a bit too casual at that time. Someone triggered the fire alarm briefly at about midnight one night (maybe a fire door was opened) and no explanation was offered -- this was a bit disconcerting.

Lovely village and beautiful hotel. We booked 2 rooms as visiting with parents. There was a leak in the room assigned to them, so they moved us all to the owners accommodation. This did mean that we had to share a bathroom but they absolutely did their best by us and have a good discount on dinner too compensate. Meals were really good and good value even at full price. Hard to comment on rooms because they are not the ones other guests will usually be given. I didn't see the one my mum was moved from.

Stayed overnight for day hike nearby so location was perfect for me. Also good amenities and facilities at the hotel. Tea and coffee in the room helped after a long drive getting to the hotel. The room was cosy and despite it being a weekend there want any internal noise

Nothing that I can remember specific to the property however there were youngsters out for the weekend night that I could hear deep into the night

The food was fantastic, we had one evening meal and three breakfasts. After the full Welsh breakfast we didn't need any lunch as it was so big. The room was good very comfortable bed and had everything you needed. The staff were polite and friendly and the housekeeping staff were happy to get what we needed

I think the room is due for a re- decoration and the frame of the four poster bed could do with some attention such as some lace or other fabric around the upper frame work to hide the labels.

Breakfast was a joy. Great tasting full breakfast, hot and freshly made. Good coffee and toast. The room was a great sized family room with a big bathroom. Bed was a large super king and comfortable too. Nice selection of tea and coffee in room.

Not enough staff on reception. Did not know who I was speaking to - no name badges or designations. Did not feel properly welcomed. Stairway a bit scruffy and faded with builders rubble visible from corridor en route to room.
