Really nice hotel. Clean and well maintained. Breakfast was very good. Staff are pleasant and helpful. We stayed in a lodge room and feel the price we paid compared favourably with other hotels that we use.

Not really an issue that the hotel can address easily but we were annoyed at the amount of noise from the corridor by some guests towards 11pm. The fire doors / room doors make alot of noise if guests are not conscious of trying to close them softly.

It was a beautiful property, and perfectly situated for what we needed The room was lovely and spacious and a great view. The staff were friendly and more than accommodating Great options for parking and electric car charging point. The staff helped us locate a charging point prior to our arrival as we were not familiar with the area and we’re happy to help on the phone, and then we’re available to book us in later due to our late arrival.

It’s a little dated, the shower could be updated and slightly more range for toiletries Not much choice for breakfast, or evening meals, particularly if your vegetarian

Great location, polite and helpful staff, proving information for buses to pen y pass and local waterfalls . The pub meals had good variety. Outside seating decorated lovely and with heaters .

Woken 04:30 by a bin lorry. Reversing back behind pub to empty bins. 10-15 mins of reversing beeps and clattering of bins . I appreciate its part of a pub however with accommodation 4:30 disturbing guests is not ideal. Window latches in room old and not secure,

Great location, comfortable bed, really nice food in the Grill restaurant. This is the second visit.

We stayed in room 236, and the bathroom set up is poorly laid out with a double curved shower screen over a bath. If your in the shower with the screens closed the shower controls are outside the screens. These controls are also used for the bath and when you turn on the shower it turns on the bath as the mixer has been fitted the wrong way round. The set up made either taking a shower or bath very frustrating. I have previously stayed in other rooms which have not had this bathroom set up.

The hotel is amazing, the food is brilliant. Breakfast was delicious and lots of choice and very good quality. The area itself is beautiful we just didn't want to leave. However I must say the highlight of our stay were the super friendly and helpful and very lovely staff. Jenny and Donna went out of their way to help us at all aspects of the stay they really were amazing. James was a brilliant help too. Just amazing place to stay. One of the best weekend ever. So hats off to the royal oak and their dedicated team.

Nothing it was all amazing

The staff friendliness and customer focus. From arrival to departure, every staff member was great, especially the young blonde lady (Katie?) who looked after us for dinner and breakfast. She was knowledgeable and attentive. Being listed as a 3 stars hotel, I had moderate but reasonable expectations but the hotel offered better service than most 4 stars hotel with impersonal staff not interested in their job or customers The food was great too, dinner as well as snacks served in the lounge such as Welsh Rarebit which was delicious. There is a very good team both in the kitchen and front of house. I have over 40 years experience in hospitality and the stay surpassed my expectations. Simple things such walking in the lounge bar without anyone behind the actual bar and seconds later for an eagle eyes receptionist to appear and look after us, making wine and food recommendations. Or once dinner was over, we did not have to wait 20 minutes trying to get someone's attention to get the bill (as experienced many times in other establishments) as staff members were always available. When I ordered a "very rare steak", I was instantly asked "would you like it blue?", a rarity. It came perfectly cooked. Our impression was that it is a very well managed hotel, where very well trained staff appear to enjoy working there. The rooms were clean (small TV but not an issue as "collapsed after a day out") and comfortable with great winter duvets. Location was perfect if you intend to hike or visit the nearby Zipworld sites, and free parking a bonus.

Nothing really... I could not fault anything.

The staff were really helpful at reception. The food in the Grill was very good. The serving staff were friendly and efficient. The room was warm and clean. Parking was close and free.

I am disabled and the bath and shower were very difficult to operate. There were no instructions on the wall on how to operate. My son who is young and strong also couldn't turn shower or bath lever on either. There were instructions in his room to turn lever clockwise. The receptionist came to help who was excellent. She said it was a general issue with multiple guests. The lever needs to turn anticlockwise and was very stiff. With receptionist help I was able to turn on shower but this would have been impossible without her help.

The staff were very friendly and helpful, especially Jennifer on reception. The food was excellent. The room was comfortable with a lovely large bath. The location was great although it was a bit noisy in the day but very quiet at night. The only negative is that the corridors were a bit outdated in decor but otherwise a fantastic relaxing stay. Would certainly recommend.

The room was bit noisy in the day as above a drinking area and main road. No lift access although this wasn't a problem for us.

Beautiful building, friendly and helpful staff, breakfast was very good (cooked to order) and comfortable bed. We ate in the Grill Room and couldn’t fault the food and service. The room we were in had a bath and the shower was good.

the room was very warm (we stayed the first weekend of October) and so had to have the window open. in a front facing room, you are on the roadside so it was noisy with passing traffic with the window being open. It is a lovely building and comfortable rooms but there was some plaster coming off the wall on the staircase and in our bathroom. These are minor points and I would stay again.

Great location in the centre of Betws: excellent evening meal in the Grill Restaurant, spacious and comfortable Stables room. Generous free parking during stay and for much of day of departure, which enabled us to make the best use of the day.

Breakfast was extra so only one of us took it, was not as impressive as the evening meal apparently. Disappointed that the (extra cost) leisure centre/ pool option was in another hotel at the far end of the village so didn't bother.
