Reception was well organised and helpful in showing us round. The breafasta we had were excellent and the receptionists were able to suggest local eating places. The location was excellent and close to the rail system. The decor was all period and the history of the building interesting

The bed was difficult to get into and there was a worry that one might fall out of bed in the night. The bathroom whilst it looked great did not function well, the toilet seat was too small, the sink was too large with little space to rest a toilet bag.The bath was difficult to get into and out of and the the shower head tended to squirt water everywhere

The hotel is decorated beautifully and very well thought out. Rooms are nicely designed and very comfortable. In particular the staff are very attentive and friendly. I would say the nicest staff I have encountered in a hotel. Our stay was nice, we really liked the breakfast. Location is OK, but strange that so many places are closed on the weekend nearby. Luggage storage for free is also a really nice touch.

The hotel is quite loud, one because it is an old building so guests above can be heard quite easily. Two the old sash windows/inner sash window (there are two) do not block any sound. There is a nightclub / bar over the road. From 23:30 it started to get very busy with people, 50-100 people in a queue waiting and are obviously quite loud as they are all a bit merry. I guess it comes down to what time you want to sleep/how sensitive you are to noise. I actually did complain and the staff took it very well and offered to move us to a 'potentially' more quiet room but we did not as it was already late.

Lovely Georgian townhouse. We stayed in a junior suite, classic period decor and very cozy. Split level with just the bathroom down stairs which I personally preferred as gives more privacy, although the photo of the copper style bath on Booking.com is not the bathroom in the suite. Lovely and spacious suite with comforting carpets and a double four poster bed. Spotlessly clean. Cheerful, fabulous staff, excellent room service menu and we enjoyed a wonderful breakfast delivered to our room. A generous check out time of 12 noon makes all the difference.

Only minor, I do like a magnifying mirror in the bathroom and although it is a large bathroom there is not much surface area to spread out one’s toiletries and make up etc. Husband would have to use the floor space 🫤.

Beautifully appointed hotel, conveniently located in central London. Steps away from Farringdon Station. 12 minute walk to St. Paul's. We arrived early from Heathrow jetlagged and tired to drop our bags, but the staff made an extra effort to prepare our room quickly while we were given tea in the conservatory, so we were able to revive ourselves before a busy day of sightseeing. There are several beautiful common rooms available 24 hours with honor bars. Our room was exactly as pictured, very clean, very comfortable. We only stayed 2 nights but felt it was an excellent start to our holiday.

The service from reception is really fantastic! I got a few gifts delivered to the hotel prior to our stay as we travelled from South Africa on Christmas Day and asked them to put it all in the gift bag in our room, and this was done perfectly! they went to a lot of trouble to search for restaurants in the area that would be open and also alerted me to the fact that the Heathrow Express (that I had bought tickets for, in advance) will not be running. Breakfast is such a treat, delivered to your room (or you can sit at a table downstairs) and we tried all the options. On day 1 I said I had died and gone to gluten heaven. I purposely booked a hotel a bit out of the way in the hope that it would be quiet, which worked.

On the nights that someone stayed on the floor above me, it was very noisy. you can hear their footsteps, voices and when they open their taps. I am a light sleeper so I could not sleep while they were awake, which was until 1 am every morning. I do however understand that the hotel does not have control over this, but this is the only reason why I would possibly not return. The bed was beautiful, but very hard. The rest was perfect.

This is different from any hotel I have stayed in before. You don’t really need to leave the hotel to have a lovely time. We particularly loved the three large guest areas which are full of books, comfy antique style sofas and fireplaces -all served with honesty bars so you can just pour your own drink and relax as if you were at home (but a very luxurious home). We also loved the location, a stones throw from medieval sites, the river Thames, Tower of London and St Paul’s Cathedral. Easily the best situated hotel we have stayed at in London. lots of really lovely pubs and eateries nearby. Can’t fault it and the staff are wonderful, kind and efficient.

I can’t think of anything I didn’t like.

The room are very cute and old fasshioned along with the bathrooms. Excatly your image of an English Inn with plenty of history. The little bar and sitting room is quite cozy. Would be nice if there was not a gas fired but instead a real wood burning fireplace for environmental and cost reasons.

The bathroom has the old big standing bathtubs with no proper shower or curtain. Some bathrooms only have a curtain separating Bathroom/toilet from the bed So you have to climb in the tub and sit to take a shower The hot water mixer when you switch from the bathtub faucet to handheld showerhead cannot hold the temperature and can be quite scalding so be careful. Some of the rooms are at the top of lots of stairs. No lift available.

Location near the Farringdon tube was great. The neighborhood is not very residential, however. It is a business center, known for jewelry and furniture design, tile, etc. Lots of nice restaurants, and a young crowd gathers in the pubs at night. I needed to be in north east London for several events, so it was perfect for me. Breakfast was great, and the hotel had 24 hour room service if one needed a small meal. Service was excellent. The staff is friendly and efficient. The public rooms were lovely to sit in, two with honor bars, although the room also had a well stocked mobile bar. Very atmospheric 18th century building with a warm Edwardian feel to the furnishings. Great bathtub. Just loved staying there.

It would be nice if eggs were offered at breakfast. For some reason, they were not. Lots of other choices and wonderful breakfast pastries, cured meats, cheese, granola, etc. But no eggs.

The staff were very helpful, and the vibes were spot on based on what you would expect from the pictures. Public transport is super good as Farringdon station is nearby. 24 hour room service + self service g&t bar is great. It felt like a very authenthic experience from the past, and if this is what you're after, I think you'll love this place

For the price you would expect more extras included. The room/hotel doesn't just look old, it is old with all that entails. Our room had very bad ventilation, and the windows were very difficult to open. (1 layer modern and 1 layer old sliding window). The wardrobes were small and difficult to open. The bathtub, while beautiful, was also impractical to use as water was splashing everywhere.

Fabulous hotel in a fabulous location. The rooms are beautifully furnished and extremely comfortable. We loved the sitting room and library and overall relaxed feel. Friendly and helpful staff who took the time to converse. It was a treat having breakfast in our room and we were happy with the selection, although we found the continental breakfast was far too big for one person! A well stocked bar made for a convival end to the evening on Saturday night. Would be very happy to make this our home from home in the city and look forward to our next stay.

As others have mentioned, a shower would have been a bonus but we managed perfectly well without one, and there was plentiful hot water. We would also have liked tea/coffee making facilities in the room. These are both very minor points and would certainly not affect our decision to stay again.
