1 Elliot Terrace

It was a lovely apartment and the kitchenette was well equipped and was well camouflaged! It looks like cupboards but when one tries to open a cupboard, it magically opens to a whole kitchen! Really enjoyed staying there.

There was a mix up with apartments initially but was soon sorted out. We paid more than we would usually pay but we usually only book a room not a whole apartment. The price was the only negative thing that I would say but it is right on the Hoe, used to be Lady Astor’s house and had parking which is at a premium in that area. All in all we had a great stay.

the first apartment I booked advised it was a 1 bed plus sofa bed, I also call the office to check it was a 1 bedroom and sofa in lounge and advised yes it was, as the apartment was for my son (36 yrs) and me. When we went into the apartment I had booked it was a studio, therefore no separate bedroom. Andy the manager advised there was a 2 bed apartment available, we took a look and Andy called for the increase in price, we paid the uplift. The 2 bed Sir Francis Drake apartment was stunning so all good in the end.

Elliot Terrace is an historic building in a fantastic location overlooking Plymouth Hoe. Free parking and easy access to the City Centre, Hoe, and a short walk down into the Barbican made it a great choice for us. The information sent in advance was clear and fairly comprehensive. The apartment (1a) had all that we needed, although we only really used it for somewhere to sleep - it was basically a base to explore the coastal part of Plymouth.

Footsteps from the apartment above were easily heard in our apartment, as was the toilet every time it was flushed.

Clean accommodation, luxury fluffy towels, comfy beds. Amazing location.

Need to be more descriptive on toilet situation, only one toilet in the entire 2 x bed apartment, which sleeps up to 6 people. No bin in the second bedroom (double room). Sash windows need fixing as counterweight's are not working. No fire escape instructions for the building, thought this was a minimum on a rental property. The only window that didn't have restrictors was screwed shut with a screw.

shaky start as we did not stay in the one we booked . however finally upgraded to apartment 1 ( dog friendly ) This is mayflower duplex suite . it was 4 bedroom which we did not need but it was the lounge / sitting area that made it . beautiful large windows overlooking the hoe and the sea . Location is everything and wow !! The housekeeper was excellent and answered immediately even when we had a panic at 23.30 when we encountered a stiff door! teabags and coffee , coffee maker . lovely big fresh towels . Bathroom essentials Thank you so much ..

the bedrooms were downstairs and the kitchen . Actually this was fine as we spent most of our time in the living room ( upstairs with the view ) but I am just explaining about the stairs downstairs to the kitchen .

The location is amazing. We spent our wedding night at The Grand 22 years ago and it’s location and aspect is identical.

The period features, light and views from the floor to ceiling windows that look out over Plymouth Sound are exceptional! You can sit and watch the bustle of people enjoying the promenade of Plymouth Hoe, or the comings and goings of ships and boats in the Sound from the comfort of this period, luxury property. A very special place!

Absolutely stunning period property with all the Victorian features you would expect. A beautiful spot to relax and enjoy the sea views from the Hoe either from the balcony or inside. The property is beautifully decorated and furnished and very comfortable. The Sir Francis Drake apartment was great with the small terrace that you could enjoy the views whilst sitting outside and having a drink. I extended my stay an additional night as it was a fantastic apartment.

fab location. walkable within 5-10!minutes of excellent sea front restaurants. In fact we didn’t even hire a car in the end as could walk everywhere or get a cheap cab £6 to the station when needed

all bedrooms down fairly steep stairs in the basement and the bedrooms were quite narrow apart from one. This may be difficult for people with mild mobility issues but was just about ok for us

Very spacious throughout. wonderful en suite bathroom with amazing shower. large open plan living room/dining room. good size kitchen with quality appliances all in excellent order. great location with amazing views across the Hoe and out to sea. Books and games to entertain kids. Good Wi-Fi. Good, helpful communication with housekeeping. Parking space-essential for us.

Steep stairs upto second bedroom may be an issue to some. As it’s a penthouse, there were lots of stairs up, however there is a lift to the floor below. Kitchen could do with a few more condiments such as oil for cooking and salt and pepper - very minor point! Plenty of DVD’s but no way to play them.

We stayed in the Sir Francis Drake apartment. It was well equipped and with fantastic views. It was ideal for my mother with mobility issues to be able to sit and watch the activity on the Hoe and at sea. The housekeeper was very helpful.

I hadn’t realised that the half landing from the lift involved as many as 12 steps due to the height of the rooms. My mother did manage them slowly and with help. Otherwise it was lovely and this was simply a feature of the architecture I hadn’t considered.
