Great location. Exceptionally clean bedroom and bathroom. Helpful checking-in staff. Friendly , excellent cleaner. Nice hot shower. Lovely old pub, we enjoyed our stay. A warning .. open top bus stops outside bedroom window so make sure you're wearing some clothes when you raise the blinds lol!! We had a great time, thank you .

The toilet flush system was a bit tricky, but we managed to treat it gently, and it worked OK. It's very, very noisey through the night, people shouting outside , and excelerating loudly up the hill , but it's busy, lively place with students and tourists alike enjoying themselves, so it was fine.

A basic hotel in an absolutely fabulous location on the wharf at the Barbican. Our room had a view over the harbour and though we could hear and see the noisy happy revelers on a Saturday evening, the noise didn't continue for long and we had a really good nights sleep in a comfy bed. An easy walk to restaurants and food outlets and the C-Op in Hoegate St. A great loaction for walkers on the SWCP, as it was right opposite the terminal for the Cawsand and Mount Batten ferry.

The shower was a little difficult to control, but not a big deal since the location of the hotel made it worthwhile to endure.

We could not have asked for a better location, very easy to get to any of the good sights in Plymouth. Right by the waterfront. Secondly the room was very clean. Good room facilities. I lay on the bed and could see right across the water to see the boats.

If your intention is only for sleeping bed was perfect. But any activity on it resulted in a squeaky bed. But wouldn’t change our stay for anything. Also bar closed earlier in the week day, I imagine it had a late finish on The weekend. But to be honest , your around so many places to eat / drink etc your not really missing out on anything.

Some of the rooms had a great view over the harbour and sea. A nice area for walks and sitting and enjoying the scenery. Lots of pubs, restaurants and some shops nearby. Bus stop outside the pub and the slipway for catching ferry and tour boats is just opposite. Museums and aquarium nearby. Not far to walk to the seafront and Hoe.

It would have been useful to have hooks on the back of the doors to hang wet coats, towels etc, Although the poor view out of the back rooms couldn't be avoided due to the location of the surrounding buildings, there was a lot of old garden furniture abandoned on the lower roofs behind which could be cleared away.

It is very easy to get to from the train station. Staff were really friendly and helped us with our luggage, they kept it safe behind before we could check in as we arrived early. Fantastic seating area outside with table service and brilliant view of the sea, as was our room too ! Drinks had loads of range and brilliant prices as well.

The only thing we could say was that we had to keep reconnecting to the Wi-Fi almost every half an hour to be using it. But everything else was perfect

I’ve stayed at the samurai Mcbride several times. I always pay for a room with a sea view and believe me it’s spectacular. Iwouldnt want to stay anywhere else. Two minutes and I’m jumping in boats which are brilliant. There is nothing like being out at sea. After the trip I get off and in three minutes I am back in my room Incredible location. I will be back again next year! Thank you for yet another amazing stay.

What was not to like The view is just awesome to wake up to every morning the staff were friendly and polite and very welcoming and helpful too, the room was exceptional, very clean, and the bed was comfortable, and the en suite was just great, well presented, and cleanliness was exemplary and fresh bed sheets every day well worth the stay would stay again enjoyed it so much even the entertainment in the bar below thank you to all the staff for their hard work

Was nothing not to like

The location is just excellent, right in front of Mayflower Steps. All the ferries to various locations literally depart from the front of this hotel. There are many food options nearby including a host of seafood restaurants. Upon request the guy in the pub allowed me to take the drinks to the room.

The window in my room was shaking and making a bit of noise when windy outside, I had to put a small block of paper to stop the window from shaking.

The room was large and not cluttered, had everything you need for your stay. It was cleaned every day by a very nice gentleman. Shower was good. We had a double room at the front so we could look out over the marina, and watch the boats coming and going. A very comfy room.

The option of having a breakfast would have been nice, but we knew when we booked the room that they didn't offer meals. Found a lovely place down the road for a full breakfast or went to Captain Jaspers for bacon roll. The only negative thing about the room was there was no comfy chair, so we had to sit on the bed to look out the window, there was a small wooden fold up chair but this would have been very uncomfortable to sit on for long periods, good job the weather was kind to us, otherwise it would have been rather uncomfortable staying in the room if really wet outside.

Comfortable room with a bit of character. We liked it very much. Fantastic view over the harbour and a thoughtfully placed table and two chairs by the window meant we could make the most of it. .. Separate entrance from the pub so that once you had collected the keys you could come and go as you pleased. Finally, the location is amazing with boat trips ,restaurants and great walks literally on your doorstep.

The building is old so understandably the bathroom is small and the stairs to the room are narrow and steep. Only meant that older people like ourselves need to take s bit of care..
