Alma Lodge Guest House

This property was very homely. The room was exceptional and just what we needed after a long drive and day at work. They were able to provide us with the keys earlier due to work commitments which made our day easier. We were a family of 3, (2 adults and 1 child). Beds were super comfortable, shower facilities were great and had a good variety of coffee/tea. Filled in a breakfast form when we first arrived to pre order and it did not let us down. Breakfast was delicious. Will definitely keep this place in mind. The owners (terrible with names) were delightful, very friendly. Happy to have a chat and cater for all our needs. Really happy we chose to stay at alma lodge.

We booked a family room. It had a double bed and 3 full sized single beds (often a family room has sub-standard additional beds but these were perfect for our 3 university aged 'children'!). There was also a good sized en-suite bathroom and tea/coffee making facilities in the room. A substantial cooked breakfast the next morning was included in the price which made it a very good value stay. There was no parking available on their front drive by the time we arrived but plenty of parking in a nearby street

Although we arrived very early, the owners very kindly allowed us to park up and go to our room. They also told us of a very good place nearby where we could have our evening meal and gave us directions on how to get there. The room itself was of a reasonable size, very clean as was the Bathroom. We considered the Breakfast excellent and we had a nice long chat with both the owner and her Daughter, who apparently runs the B&B. They were very informative, regarding places in Plymouth we could visit, as we had plenty of time to spend while waiting for our Ferry.

The ordering method was very efficient and they checked details each day. I added a couple of notes eg different methods of preparing eggs I liked and thought might be available. They actually aimed to offer me each in turn over my three breakfasts which was very sweet.

My room was very warm each night due to the weather (no one’s fault) and keeping the curtains closed and as many windows open as possible helped.

A very warm welcome and the proprietor was very attentive. Nothing was too much trouble. Our room (no.3) was very clean, had tea & coffee making facilities and was at the rear of the building away from traffic noise. The en-suite was nicely decorated with bath and shower. Breakfast options and a choice of serving time were a nice touch. 24hr free WiFi as well. Off street parking was available and the railway station & city centre just a short walk away. We are due to return to Plymouth in the Spring and will definitely get back in touch.

Alma Lodge was exceptional from the decour , the cleanliness , the attentive and lovely people running the Lodge and the key system was easy , and booking on line was so easy . I cannot speak highly enough of our whole experience oh and I’m a vegetarian and the ladies made me a delicious breakfast at very short notice . We loved it and will definitely be back thank you so much x

Arrived early afternoon as taking daughter back ready to move into new home for Marjon university so went straight to room was absolutely lovely couldn’t fault it this morning breakfast was amazing the owner was lovely we had good chat made us feel really welcome and we definitely be going back now and using Alma lodge as daughter in Plymouth university for another 2 years so grandparents will also be booking myself and abi thankyou very much and we will definitely see you in November sometime thanks Jane and abi xx

- Friendly and uncomplicated staff - served breakfast (met our expectations) - good value for money - it was very quiet during the night - easy checkin / checkout

- room was very small (in case you have big baggage) - it was difficult to shower (shower ether in bathtub without shower-curtain or in the shower located directly in the bathroom without curtain - so it gets very wet).

Breakfast was excellent for the full 5 days we stayed. Excellent atmosphere very famliy friendly staff absolutely nothing was too much trouble for kerry, she even left a light Breakfast on our last day, as we had a 5.30am start,well you don't get better than that for customer care. The location was ideal for bus and train links. All in all,a fantastic find.we will most certainly be going back.thanks to you all at alma Lodge.

Nothing not to like.

We made an excellent choice staying at the alma guest house. The hosts were lovely, so friendly and we felt very much at ease from the moment we arrived. Breakfast was great, and nothing was too much trouble, We were at central park for weekend tribute festival so location was just across the road, so ideal for us. We walked into town and back, 20 min stroll. Would definitely recommend and stay here again without hesitation when we next come to central park. Thankyou. Rose and Tony
