The Premier Lodge

The Premier Lodge stands where dark lane and Damside meet on the fiercely popular A197 connecting the historic town of Morpeth and Newbiggin by the Sea. It's a one-minute walk to several excellent tourist sights, such as Morrisons, Next, and Lidl. The area immediately surrounding the hotel doesn't have much in the way of interesting restaurants or shops. But there are dining options and luxury stores, including Greggs, Wetherspoons and Costa only a few blocks away. At first appearance Premier Lodge rooms are elegant and airy. Bright walls, plenty of light streams through windows, and attractive period furniture, and textiles in soft shades add to the appeal. The well appointed rooms lack the welcoming champagne on ice and sweets at turndown that you’d expect from a hotel like Premier Lodge, but you can bring your own. The well appointed bathroom includes a shower, basin with taps, and a toilet. Included is a mirror (at no extra charge) that could very well remind a guest of a trip to the Palace of Versailles. I didn’t try any of the hotel amenities but I’d guess they lack the over-the-top decadence and pizazz for a property of this caliber. Who needs a business centre when the room has wifi with no dress code! On Friday and Saturday evenings, you can watch the local residents provide free live entertainment from the comfort of your room, and if you don’t feel like watching, you can listen to the performance as you relax in bed. I didn’t use the 24-hour room service, the concierge, valet parking, or chauffeur services but I’m certain that if the hotel offers this, it would be as world class as the rest of my experience. After saving for that once in a lifetime dream holiday to Morpeth, I was not disappointed.

Perfect location with easy check in, free car park was ideal, clean and comfortable with a well stocked drinks tray, bath and shower with plenty of hot water. Corridors and cark park covered by CCTV so very secure. Would recommend and will use again when in the area. Also of note Morrisons store directly opposite does an excellent breakfast!

Not a criticism but on a personal note would have preferred another pillow, and do be patient with the hot water as it takes a while to come through, but fine when it does!

The room door wasn't very secure. If entry was needed by burglars. It was easy for them to enter the room as the door looked as if it had already been broken in too with a screw driver. The mattress was very thin and could feel the springs in it. Hence why I ended up sleeping on top of the quilt fully clothed. I had room 1 with a double bed. The room was clean with wood chip walls, there was tea, and coffee in there and kettle. Also a 24inch tv.

We were greeted by the owner who was lovely , very helpful and told us everything we needed to know about our stay, he offered us a change of room if we wanted as their was a nicer room free the next day but as we were only staying 2 nights we said we were happy just to stay in the room that was available, although it was a little dated it had everything we needed,I would definitely stay there again as we had a lovely weekend, in Morpeth and couldn’t really fault the Premier Lodge at all.

Room a little dated but well happy with everything

I came with my brother but we had our own rooms because of my loud snoring, I paid £50 and got a family room, it was massive, 2 singles and a double bed, it had a great ensuite bathroom nicely done, fridge, tea/coffee facilities, lovely views, vacuum cleaner, ironing board and iron in room, the two lovely cleaning women helped me carry my mobility scooter down some steps to get out of the building which I thought was very nice. It was great value for money and it was my third stay here.

Unfortunately they don't do breakfast.

The location and the room was nice and clean Good size room would of preferred an en suite but the external bathroom worked just as good Bus stops outside and there's also parking on site I would stay here again if breakfast is included

No breakfast !! I think for the money paid per night there should be a breakfast included either cooked , cereal or both Hotels in the area charging the same or slightly less with breakfast included Otherwise really good place to stay

I booked this accommodation for a friend and he said "Fantastic proximity to the town centre and amenities and the staff were very friendly and helpful "

My friend said "Had to change rooms due to a broken toilet and the new room then had a broken shower. That being said the staff allowed me to access the bath from the previous room whenever I wanted so all good."

Very nice room, an upgrade from the room we booked. Comfortable beds, lovely spacious room and good shower in the bathroom.

Misunderstanding about the room we booked. We had booked a family room with two beds but were given a double room with one bed. However, Kumar the receptionist soon sorted things out and gave us a better room. Shukriya, Kumar!

Was an amazing stay for the asking price couldn't be happier. The young girl at the reception desk went over and above to help with any questions etc. Room was tidy and had all necessary items for a lovely stay. I would suggest this place to friends and definitely would book again.

Only issue I had and saying that its a minor inconvenience is that there isnt a lot to see around the local area. It isn't too far from Newcastle town centre on the bus though.

Despite being on a busy road junction the room #6 that I had was very quiet. It was also clean, warm and comfortable and had everything I needed for a 3 day Christmas 🎄 visit to see my family and friends. It has a car park and the hotel is just 2 minutes walk from Morpeth town centre.

The bed was a little springy for my liking but that isn't a complaint, it just wasn't what I am used too.
