The staff and the locals were extremely nice, could not have been nicer. It is lovely to see a pub so busy these days. The food was very well cooked and enjoyable.. it's really hard to give an accurate score because if younger I suspect we would give a 10. It is very noisy with a thumping beat all night (if does say it's busy which is a good indicator but it is loud in the rooms). The room was brilliant, there were minor issues which I forgot to mention and certainly would not mark down for. Kettle too big to fill (not unusual there lol), no plug in the sink and a few items needed screws tightening. Minor stuff. All in all, really nice, great value just be prepared for the noise if you go at a busy time. It's well run and we'll worth a visit.

Location great, easy to find. Staff very friendly and helpful. Was originally going to be put on second floor of accommodation but they kindly changed us to 1st floor as I have problem with stairs. Food selection very good and reasonable price for the quality

I booked this as a B&B but was disappointed to find we had to pay for breakfast which we found very pricey and not that good value for the price....2x breakfasts plus tea and coffee for £24.50 is very expensive. Making the total cost of just under £80 for one night stay. The booking info is misleading.

The staff were friendly and accommodating, all members of staff greeted us with a smile and a friendly hello. The room was modern and newly refurbished, equipped with the essentials, such as towels, coffee/ tea, shower gel, and shampoo. There was a nice added touch of complimentary biscuits, too. The room was clean and quiet as we were on the top floor, so slept well. Breakfast was nice and great value. There was a car park, which was handy. Overall, for the price we paid, it was great value for money!

We were not aware the bathroom was not attached to the room, which was inconvenient, especially during the night when needing the toilet. We didn't mind so much, but thought it should be mentioned a bit clearer on booking.com as it just stated "private bathroom.""

The venue itself is a lovely pub and the hotel above it is very good as well. Great and friendly staff, too.

I understand it is winter and maybe can get a bit draughty, but in our room, room 3, the radiator was on, set to its highest setting, tried to slowly bleed in some heat but to no avail. We turned the thermostat outside of our room to its highest setting, and still, it didn't warm up our room. The radiator kept on trying and at times kept me awake and even woke me up at 3am. That is a very disappointing way to spend my two nights there.

The setting was lovely, beautiful building and lovely period features. The room looked lovely, simple, but highlighting the lovely big window. The room is above a pub, but I was impressed by how little sound travelled up through - and we stayed on a Saturday night with a live music act playing! Obviously it wasn't completely silent, but considering the circumstances I was impressed. The bed was very comfy and the shower was lovely. The tv was a smart tv so I was able to catch up with some programmes I'd missed. The food was fantastic! I thought it was great value and delicious! And they delivered our dinner to our room which I really appreciated. The staff were lovely and helpful too.

The room was a bit smaller than we were expecting - which was fine, but luckily we didn't have big dogs or large dog beds as they wouldn't have fitted. The room had space just to walk around the bed and that was about it. Cleanliness could have been a bit better - there were a couple of hairs. Dogs were welcome at the bar, which was great as we had breakfast with our dogs, but most of the seats were too high up to be able to sit with them.

Easy check in, polite and friendly staff member showed us to our room. The family room was spacious, bright, clean and well decorated. There were only 2 of us but we booked this room as it had an en suite (and didn't fancy wandering across the corridor for our bathroom as you would have to with the double rooms). We were out until late so the fact it's above a pub didn't bother us; slept well in peace and quiet. Overall good value for the size of room. We stayed and paid for a cooked breakfast the next morning, which was really nice. Would stay here again.

The shower got you wet but didn't have much oomph! The double bed in the family room could do with a new mattress; can feel the springs a bit. The single bed was really comfy. We waited 45 minutes for our breakfast to arrive and the pub wasn't particularly busy.

The room was very clean and comfortable and the staff were friendly and helpful. I had a great breakfast in the restaurant and the choice was good.

Unfortunately the pub was closed when I arrived and I had to phone to ask someone to come and let me in, and I had about a 20 minute wait. It was also a celebration time in the town and the car park, and most of the town had become a funfair. I was shown to an additional secure car parking space, but as I had left home at 5am to travel up for a conference I was longing for an early night, but had a noisy fair ride outside my window! It would have been nice to have been forewarned of these things.

Our room (No. 1) was basic, however, the beds (single and double) were very comfortable with clean sheets, etc. There was a kettle, a very large TV and a clothes rack with suitcase storage below. The bathroom was situated across the hall, for which we had a key and was for our use only. This was also very clean. Our room was above the high street so there was some traffic noise (to be expected). No noise from the pub. We had an excellent breakfast the next morning. All the Staff were very friendly. Would stay again. Good value.

There was a noise, on and off, during the night. Not sure where it emanated from, but it didn't disturb our sleep.

There was free parking at the side of the pub and the staff were very welcoming. My room was on the first floor and had a separate bathroom down the corridor for my exclusive use. Bit unusual not to have an en-suite but was very clean, warm and private. There was a band on in the evening but they just finished their last song as I was arriving back to my room so not too noisy. Breakfast was extra but it was well worth it. A good atmosphere, very clean and comfortable. I would stay here again.

An option to pay for breakfast in advance was not there, but the breakfast menu was extensive - didn't realise until I got there so I see why.

Place was clean

Four out of five guest smoked tried to leave building for a cigarette adhering to the rules of smoking on the premises which is understandable, not able to open front door spent a few hrs calming one guest down due to a panic attack thinking she was locked in …..in the morning a manager who had found to get in he had to force the door open with his shoulder due to it being painted very recently and it was stuck firmly …..so although everything else was fine it created a big issue for one night stay .
