Rufflets St Andrews

Beautiful house, stunning gardens, peaceful location. Staff and food were exceptional. They were always willing to go the extra mile; staff were obviously well-trained and so polite. Regarding our meals, breakfast and dinner were delicious and nicely presented during our long weekend stay.

Noise from the bar was a bit annoying on 2nd night, some people were clearly well-oiled and loud with it, and our room was just above it. For £300 a night I think every room should be king-size; we struggled a bit with the double bed as we've a king-size at home. Room and bathroom very nicely appointed, but again, small for the price.

as our stay was to celebrate our silver wedding we were expecting something a little bit more special than we actually experienced (eg a bottle of champagne was provided by our children but received nothing from the hotel to mark the occasion) Felt there could have been more choice in the dinner menu and felt that self service at breakfast could have been extended to the cooked breakfast as the "amount of food in the prepared full english breakfast appeared to be the minimum the hotel could deem to be acceptable.

We had a family suite in the cottage outside so more space than I would usually get for us (myself and my two daughters) as I booked it quite last minute and a three persons room was sold out. The suite felt a bit outdated but had everything in it that we needed so didn't bother us. Everything was clean and comfortable I LOVED the garden and had the most peaceful moment after breakfast with a book on a bench. The chickens fun for children to see and I love the commitment of the hotel to good soil, organic produce and sustainability.

Nothing really although the suit did feel a bit outdated. Maybe all the rooms in the hotel are the same and is it part of the charm.

The breakfast was absolutely incredible, every single member of the staff was kind and accommodating, the grounds were stunning as was the interior of the lobby, rooms, and dining locations. We needed to get a cab early on the day we left, and not only did the hotel arrange it all for us but they also left out croissants, coffee, tea, and orange juice because they knew we would not be there for the full breakfast that morning. I cannot recommend this property enough.

There are no sidewalks leading up to the property, so you had better get a cab in advance.

W were given a warm welcome on arrival and shown personally to our room. This was a lovely touch. Room whilst small was comfy, bathroom a bit dated and the decor a little tired, but the bedroom had a pleasant outlook to the garden which was stunning. it was only a double bed and when used to a Kingsize bed at home- it always feel snug. We enjoyed an evening drink in the garden which was lovely and the bar tender was very friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was excellent, a very tasty and well presented hot breakfast was a great start to the day.

Rooms were very nice. Bar was very good. Very nice gardens. Most of the staff were exceptional. The morning manager with the glasses and dark hair was a lovely friendly person who looked after you and made time to speak to you and very good to staff.

Evening manager didn't come across a friendly person. This person was miserable and didn't really speak to staff well. I personally think he's in the wrong job. He made you feel uncomfortable, and for that, I wouldn't like to book an evening meal while he's on duty.

Great location, literally a 5 minute drive into town. Staff were super friendly and welcoming to our dog, bowl of water set out at meal times without asking for one and all the staff knew her name. Really dog friendly approach. you can eat and drink with your pet in the bar area but not the restaurant which isn’t an issue as the bar area is very cosy with a fireplace, nice area to relax for food or a drink from the bar. We stayed in room 1 (the lodge) which is perfect for a couple or family with a dog. loads of room and having a living area was perfect to relax after long walks on the beach. We will definitely book Rufflets again for our next stay in St Andrews.

Great hotel just ten minutes from St Andrews. Beautiful grounds and super quiet. The staff are really friendly and approachable and happy to help in anyway. Breakfast was superb. The communal areas are beautifully appointed, and very comfortable.

We didnt realise that a standard double meant a standard double bed, which in this day and age is fairly rare for a 4 star hotel. The room was lovely and could have easily taken a Kingsize at least. The size of the bed made for a very uncomfortable sleep even though the mattress was good.

We visited with friends for my husband’s ‘big birthday’. He didn’t know others were joining us nor that there would be a birthday cake, etc. the staff went over and above the call of duty for us - we were given a room to ourselves with the cake on a side table. Menu and service both at Dinner and Breakfast were excellent. We were not charged anything additional, and really appreciated the friendliness and high standard of service we received. Can’t praise the experience highly enough. Thank you.

The breakfast was lovely, there was a small selection of cereals for you to help yourself to, looked as if it needed topping up when we arrived, but enough to satisfy.

There was a bit of noise when we were in our room. There seemed to be a fan going at some points during the evening, sometimes longer than others, then again at 4am, which woke me up and I struggled to get back to sleep. You could also hear the noise of the extractor fan from the room next door, but this was a much louder, continuous noise. We stayed in room 35 which was right at the top of the Hotel, so the pressure in the shower was quite poor.
