Apex City Quay Hotel & Spa

Receptionists were really friendly and helpful when we dropped our bags off. Lovely spacious room. Great to have a bath as well as shower. No air conditioning but I much preferred being able to open the window. Loads of really nice toiletries and very helpful to have bottles of water as well as teas and coffees. Swimming pool, sauna and gym were a good size and well equipped. Nice to have towels provided. Great views on our side of the hotel towards the station and V&A. Very convenient location for arriving by train and trips out by bus from the bus station. Nice walk along the sea front to the city centre cafes and restaurants.

The hotel looks cheap from the outside like an office block. The immediate area is scruffy and not a nice approach. But the seafront renovations are getting ever closer so hopefully it’ll improve soon. Shame the hotel doesn’t provide bathrobes as standard which would have been lovely for trips to the gym and pool.

Staff really friendly and pleasant, very helpful too. Room very clean. Everything in the room that you need, TV, kettle, hairdryer, toiletries and fluffy fresh towels. Would not consider staying anywhere else next year, within walking distance for anywhere we wanted to go.

This is the second year our company had a seminar here, when we booked the room the prices had shot up 50% from the day before, obviously due to demand, we called and asked for an upgrade from single beds to doubles, which we could have at a price, so no free upgrade. I had been spoiled the year before, being on my own and given a room with two double beds. Could have some more tea and coffee in the room, luckily we had taken some with us, thankfully as we did not like the brand supplied. The above would not put me off staying at the hotel again, just having a moan.

The hotel was bright, very clean and had wonderful staff, all were very welcoming, helpful and friendly. The room was very generously sized, with a fantastic sized bathroom too. The bed was a great size and had a wonderful mattress and crisp beautiful linen. There were extra little touches such as the welcome note on our bed with the rubber ducky and we were given a token to have a drink in the hotel for our birthday. We had breakfast in the morning which was made with quality produce and was cooked perfectly. The staff again were fabulous and very attentive, there was also a wide wonderful choice for the continental . We were made to feel very special. We will definitely be staying again.

Parking was an extra £5 ( that’s the only negative I can think of)

Great facilities, staff helpful (especially at reception). Lovely rooms with comfy beds. Pool was great too. Shame the hot tub was out of action, would have been handy to have known this at time of booking on Booking.com as the hotel state this on their website directly. Perfectly located for the city centre and transport

Breakfast was a big disappointment. Quite tasteless and items missing, even when asked for them, they never arrived despite being ask for several times. Not worth the money we paid, however when we complained, they were very understanding and fed the issues back as well as offering us a refund.

Our room was modern, clean and very little noise from the corridor/other rooms. Great view and great location, always able to get a space in the car park. Staff were friendly and helpful although we didn’t need much, check in was efficient.

Slight smell of sewage from the toilet or shower - it did come and go but was a bit off putting. No air con and although we didn’t need it in December we did sleep with the window open so I don’t know if I could stay in the summer which is a shame because we really enjoyed our stay. Breakfast was a fair bit extra to add on although standard hotel prices but I didn’t think it was worth the extra money and not sure I would bother next time when you are in such a good location for cafes etc.

Stayed in a family room - it was very clean, spacious, very comfortable bed, beautiful view on a quay. Having had breakfast lunch and dinner in the hotel can safely recommend the restaurant in the hotel. Hotel staff were another highlight to my stay - free room upgrade from reception team, wonderful massage/facial at spa and thoughtful waitressing staff in a restaurant, who kindly offered to adjust our dinner package to lactose free and non-alcoholic options.

We came to the hotel for the Spa and pool facilities, thus it was disappointing that jacuzzi was out of order and overall pool and sauna facilities were quite outdated and small - there were no more than 15 people using the facilities at the same time as me and it was enough to make it crowded. I wish a visitor number would be controlled a bit better to ensure all guests have a chance to use the facilities and have a relaxing experience that they come for.

Staff were fantastic and helpfull so polite at reception and nite staff but wasnt very happy about restraunt staff seems bit off and the food was expensive fpr what it was and quality but hotel was fab and bed was amazing amd luxary of swimming as much as u want will be back again loved my stay

Didnt enjoy the food in hotel burger was nice but far to expensive for what it was and felt sick after greezy over cooked onion rings apart from that hotel stay was amazin staff at reception were amazin and helpfull was gutted couldnt stay for another nite was dissapointed thatnthere was no rooms left xx

Room view was entertaining! Upgraded to family room. Cleanliness was good. Extra pillows provided as requested. Location is excellent within easy walking distance of many tourist sights.

Breakfast. Limited fresh fruit available. Fruit salad was mostly melon - not easy to digest. Evening meal - Macaroni was disgusting. No taste of cheese whatsoever. Unable to sit in the restaurant when it clearly had spaces. Sat in the bar and chose from the bar menu. Fish and chips - excellent but chairs were waaay too low for the table!!!

It was nice having a hotel with a pool and gym although I did not use the gym I did use the pool. The room was very clean and spacious with a nice view over the Quay. It was nice having a a bath and a shower in the en suite.

The receptionist did not seem to have a good knowledge of the city as I asked about going somewhere and she called a Taxi for me but told him the wrong location completely which meant he was very annoyed and rude to me. She also told me Taxis took either cash or card so it would be easy to pay which was not true, meaning once again the Taxi driver was incredibly rude to me as I only had large denomination cash notes to pay with.

The location of this hotel is perfect, right in the center of Dundee making everything within walking distance. The staff were more than helpful & welcoming. Room was a great size! Restaurant & bar was lovely! Everything was very clean!

The toilet pan was very high off the ground, making using the toilet uncomfortable. The pillows were not to our liking, far too soft and fluffy with no option of a firmer one. The jacuzzi was out of order and we werent informed of this until arrival - it was one of the reasons we booked this hotel so would have been nice to know before arrival.
