Rusacks St Andrews

The absolute best thing is the staff. They were wonderful. So friendly and helpful. Really made our stay. Hotel location is superb, over looking the golf course and the beach. Loved the decor of the hotel; very sumptuous. The room was beautifully furnished and the bed was super comfortable. The shower in the bathroom was amazing. I was also very pleased to find out there were lifts in the property. Lastly the breakfast was fabulous, really good selection on the menu and a lovely view to go with it.

I found the room a bit warm but my husband as fine. The windows could be opened which helped but we were out front so you could hear the traffic when the windows were open.

This hotel is amazing. I booked this for my husbands birthday and he was over the moon! The decor was stunning and great for golf lovers. We booked a deluxe double with a balcony overlooking the old course, and the view was incredible. The room was amazing, the bed was big and comfortable. The bathroom was massive with a shower and a bath. The staff were so lovely and so helpful. We ate in the Bridge Restaurant and the One Under Bar, both of which were superb. Breakfast in the morning was great with a wide selection and great views. Location is great as well, right in the thick of St Andrews with so much within walking distance.

The Rusacks is just fantastic. This was our second stay and as delightful and comfortable as last years. This time we had a smaller room in the older part which was just as nice as the larger one we had last time. But the best part is always the breakfast (the salmon and avocado on sourdough are awesome) and dinner at the rooftop restaurant which we always enjoy at least once during our stay. The staff is always friendly and so helpful and goes the extra mile to make our stay comfortable. Also, this year we used the valet parking and our electric car was charged automatically by hotel staff - this is excellent service. We'll be coming back later this year and next year.

There's nothing to not like.

We were welcomed warmly with smiles and gracious questions about our journey. Our room was everything I was hoping for and more. It felt like home during the 5 days we stayed. It was clean and extremely spacious. The bedding was incredibly comfortable and luxurious. Our teenage son joined us and the hotel staff accommodated our needs. The restaurants were all perfect. I highly recommend booking reservations at the 18t Hole ahead of time, you will not want to miss out it’s stunning. We will definitely be back again.

Everything was lovely.

Absolutely everything. Staff are first rate; led by Seamus the Hotel Director. Breakfast and the view of the sea and the lovely lady Joy who looked after us. The Concierge, couldn't do enough for us and so welcoming. The little extras like chocolate on our pillows and the luxuriant Floris bathroom products. Cleanliness. The bar downstairs and it's well priced menu. Decor is extremely tasteful. Atmosphere is relaxed and unstuffy. Every single member of staff were an absolute joy. Beautiful paintings everywhere; my absolute favourite is of the two dogs on the beach at St Andrew's. Location. Right in town.

Perhaps a few newspapers and magazines in foyer. A few games would be good. Pictionary is always good fun. Coming home!!

Hotel staff were lovely, location of the hotel was spot on, Breakfast delicious and the 18th great atmosphere

Our late booking meant we got the last room in the hotel. Bed was comfy and rm clean, aircon was noisy so switched it off only to over heat, opened window but above kitchen so noisy fans. Bathroom was disabled, no where to put my toiletries and floor soaked every time we showered but it was the last room and we did really enjoy our stay. Next time I’ll book earlier and get a grander room with a better bathroom and a view

The hotel is lovely and the bedroom spacious and well appointed. The rooftop restaurant, 18, was very nice and the food good, if not spectacular. I felt it was a bit overpriced for what it was. I was very disappointed to be charged £46.00 for two small brandies and two non alcoholic cocktails. When checking the bill I had been charged £14.00 for each brandy, When I checked with the barman he told me 'this is a doubles bar'. I don't even know what that is, and I certainly did not order doubles, doubles are not shown on the drinks menu, and the measures given were not doubles. The bill was revised to £30.00. Nonetheless, it did not create a good impression.

We returned to our room one day at 4pm to find it hadn't been cleaned, and had to arrange for it to be done through reception. On arrival there was one tissue left in the box in the bathroom. It was not replaced with a new box for two days.

We stayed at the Rusacks for three nights of our honeymoon. The staff were just incredible and couldn’t do enough for us to make our stay as memorable as possible. Our deluxe suite room was stunning and spacious with fabulous views of the golf course and beach. We ate in the 18 restaurant the first night and had a fabulous meal there, followed by a cosy drink in the hotel bar. Breakfast was a real highlight with such a wide selection and again the staff were so pleasant and accommodating. We can’t wait to return for an anniversary, such a wonderful experience for us, thank you!

The paid parking

Amazing location, amazing view from the room, beautiful interior design, very friendly, kind and warm staff, relaxed atmosphere. Even though there weren’t any other kids in the hotel while we were there, we felt welcome and very comfortable with our 4 year old son.

Not a great management of the staff, a bit inexperienced staff. The things brake in the rooms and hotel (doors, shower, water pouring from the ceiling). Long waiting times at breakfast. Overpriced.

The room I stayed in was beyond superb. The view was incredible, the bed was super comfortable. I was taken care of like a queen. The hotel is one I saw from afar in my childhood memories of annual holiday visits to St Andrews, and glad I got to stay. The grand stairs are a feature, and you should use them if stairs are not an issue. The price tag for the view rooms is high, but worth it for that special occasion. Ask about free internet access if it is not offered - it is very good. Very nicely situated for golfing, the West Sands, the town and the University of St Andrews. The three sitting areas are an experience not to miss, especially the billiards room. Any issues are fixed immediately - but the staff do not expect any issues! The rooftop restaurant is a must. Superb view, and excellent food to match.

The hotel seems to have a low water pressure issue, but it may not be general. If booking a single room, make sure it has lift access and while furnished very nicely, they are compact (and the hotel says so). Not all rooms on the fourth floor have lift access. The lift is a bit compact but adequate. If you arrive late and need food, go to the lower ground bar.
