Staybridge Suites - Dundee, an IHG Hotel

My wife and i travel a lot for weekend and mid week breaks and hear a lot of hotels claiming to be dog friendly hotels. The staybridge exceeded all of our expectations. We were greeted by Greta and Dion both of whom were warm and friendly and made more of a fuss over our dog than us, which we love. We were afforded a free upgrade, without us requesting, and the rooms were exceptional. Spotless, well stocked, all entities in working order and very modern in appearance. What impressed me the most, apart from the fantastic staff, was how they cater for dogs. There is a room set aside where you can eat breakfast with your dog rather than having to put them in the car. On the Wednesday evening there was a free happy hour where the venue provides free food and drink for an hour for a meet and greet. Great touch and every staff member was chatty and friendly. Food was plentiful and staff made sure glasses were always full. Parking was not an issue. £10 per day at a well lit car park 100 metres from the hotel and you can use an app to pay so no need to rush every morning to put more money on the meter. A huge thanks to all of the staff who made our 2 days away very enjoyable and we will definitely be back

Nothing. Every aspect exceeded expectations

Beautiful hotel very close to the city center and on 15 min walking distance of a big parc (where dogs are very welcome). The hotel has a nice restaurant with delicious food and also the breakfast was excellent. The staff was very sweet and helpfull. Our dogs were treated nicely. A must go visit nearby is the Balnuith Alpacas farm! The owner is such a sweet lady with all kind of animals and she takes a lot of time to show you her farm, alpacas, lamas, donkeys, dogs and price winning sheeps. We loved it there.

Property was very nice and clean but Dundee itself has a lot of carbage on the streets. The community should better clean their city to improve the city experience.

An excellent refurbishment of a Jute Mill. High brick ceilings and large windows provided a light and airy room. Room was well equipped, clean and extremely comfortable. A good night’s sleep was had due to excellent sound proofing and through having air conditioning. Staff were friendly and attentive. They addressed every query and issue. Outstanding value for money. Even better if I had been staying longer; I would have used the kitchenette.

To be honest nothing of any consequence. Some previous guests had managed to leave small stains on the carpet. No fault of the hotel and will no doubt be addressed in due course.

Excellent place if you prefer self catering but also like the advantages of being in a hotel. Will definitely stay there again. The original features were kept sympathetically eg high bricked ceilings in places. These blended well with modern touches. There were additional rooms you could use and board games available. The staff were super and would get you eg vegan sausages from another establishment if you asked.

Nothing was an issue. Probably the best place I have worked in. Great also to be across the road from Mark's and Spencer's.

Everything about the room was perfect! The kitchenette had everything you could need to make and store food/drinks. The bed was super comfy and the blackout curtains really worked - this is the most relaxed we have been in a long time! The property was quiet, considering it is a hotel and has many rooms. The bathroom was a good size with a super large shower. There was plenty of storage options for clothes and every corner had been utilised and thought out thoroughly, including the subtle backlights in the bathroom and behind the massive TV unit. The hotel/apartments are a short walk to the quayside and centre of Dundee (approximately 10 minutes).

From first arrival to departure we really enjoyed our stay. We had a lovely meal in Daisy Taskers and also enjoyed our breakfast each morning. We loved the fragrance in the hotel reception and wonder where this can be purchased from please?

We were charged £10 per night for our dog and felt this was a little excessive as he's not a dog generally who sheds his fur and is not a messy or smelly dog. I felt we had been penalised for other animals who make more of a mess such as the next room where we saw a cat in the window and our dog could definitely smell pets in there as he stopped at this bedroom door everytime he passed.

Handy location, bed was comfortable, it was very clean and while I didn’t have time to make full use of the kitchenette it was great to have the nespresso machine and fridge. The breakfast was also good with plenty of variety available.

The switches controlling the lights in the room did not have a good system, for example I had to have a switch turned on at the door to be able to switch on the bathroom light and that same switch at the door would also turn on a lamp in the bedroom. The bedside lamps also seemed to be connected mainly to a switch at the door rather than just being able to turn them on and off as needed. It was just quite an awkward system.

The rooms are absolutely huge, very spacious. Large windows for lots of natural light. Kitchenette with appliances so you don’t need to eat out every day, large bathtub, great for soaking. Comfy bed, AC.

When checking in, it should be noted that the desk within hotel indigo must be used, not the vacant desk in the actual staybridge suits building. I was waiting for a very long time, until a member of staff advised me to which desk to go. Housekeeping staff also passed through but never thought to ask, which was a shame. Breakfast could have had a few more options, but it was good.

Lovely suite. The complementary breakfast was excellent. The bathroom, bed and kitchen facilities were very good. the hotel staff were excellent - very friendly, helpful and informative. Close to a supermarket if you want to self cater.

Parking on site is limited, however parking at a low cost in a public car park is in less than 5 mins walk and easy to get to. Washing machines were great, but no washing powder provided and only one of three dryers working so there was a bit of a queue to use them. Lighting in the apartment was not great, however good natural light and lamps.

Fantastic location with shops nearby. Car park just down the road free from 6pm to 8am. Nearby street parking with less restrictions if you are lucky. Rooms are amazing. I've never stayed in a self accommodation hotel before and I now won't be booking anything different for work. I like being able to cook my own food rather than eating out each night. The little gym is a lovely addition too.

The only improvement I would have liked would have been some sort of oil, salt and pepper for cooking with in the rooms. When I went to the M&S opposite, I didn't give this a thought until I had started cooking my tea. Other than that, PERFECT.
